£25m has to be a minimum on Ollie! His work rate, his positioning, his pace and his ability to Hold up the ball Make him virtually priceless

All I'm saying is I think it's a good time to sell....Ollie had a great season but 4 goals in last 15 games and in games against the top 5 of which we were 1 he only scored twice ....

It’s not just about goals. His effort, defensive work and overall contribution mark him as a fantastic player. If we could keep him it would put us in a great position for next season.

Not sure the quality of what he was receiving was questionable and SB was shooting when he should have passed. With a more considered approach he would have scored more.

Said previously that I'm sure one of the metrics the analysts uses is the number of goals scored whilst Player X is in the pitch?

Ollies stats in the Swansea game at GP were phenomenal. Its not all about goal scoring

If he has to go, then please to a lower/middling Prem team, so we can insert a healthy sell-on to get another hefty pay day when he makes Top 6

Maupay was offered more money to stay than Brighton were going to pay him, he did decide on Premier league football, but maybe Ollie would accept such an offer knowing that he'd be part of a potential Championship winning side.

I love Ollie and it would be great to have him here next year, but the reality is that his value may be as high, for him and us, as it will likely get in a Bees shirt and the sensible move for both parties is probably to realise that value.

I think as well he look to prem team like Palace or West Ham as a good step up the career ladder and test himself at the highest level. For us, its about reinvesting the money wisely. Our recruitment policy is probably the best in the country but I go with whatever the club decides best.

He must be at his peak selling value for us right now & we all know how it works.
He’s earned the right to a crack at the big time.

Sounds a likely destination.

Shame but this is how it works in this new world.

Newcastle now

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...-united-interested-brentford-forward-18748268

Newcastle United are understood to have an interest in Ollie Watkins, the highly-coveted Brentford forward.

The Magpies need a forward and despite the budget being crunched by the economic consequences of the pandemic, they are actively looking to do deals.

Loans and free agents may be part of their strategy but United have some money to spend and it's understood Watkins is one of the players identified as part of months of preparation for the close season.

Although the coronavirus pandemic has knocked plans - and the takeover has proved a huge distraction from work being done - the 24-year-old is highly-rated and would compliment Newcastle's style.

The more rumours I hear, the less I am convinced they are a good fit for Ollie. He has shown himself to be far more concerned about career pathway than money so he'll want to go to a well run, well coached club where he will play regularly. The only club that ticks those boxes is, unfortunately, Leeds.

He will stay with us rather than go to a basket case like Newcastle.

Because he is very happy where he lives, been spending a lot of money on it, and does not want to move.
Rent it out and his new club give him a flat to live in.

Every player I the world has a house they spend too much on, doesn’t mean they won’t be going to a prem club secure themselves for life.

We do this every year, start grasping at straws as to why a player will not leave. He will be gone, we want the 30m, he wants the premier and the dosh, I just hope it is soon and doesn’t destroy the first month of the season.

All these rumours kicking around. Seems more intense this time. I wonder what our chances are of keeping the BMW together for next season. Do we really need to sell? Maybe Matthew would like to gamble one last time. After all loosing Ollie and Said are bound to set us back for next season.

MB is only one party involved. If the others want out, there's not a lot he would do about it. It would also send the wrong impression - we bring in players on the basis that we will improve them and they can get a bigger move - we stop doing that, we become less attractive.

Chances I would say are slim to none and slim just left town.

We all know how the model works, everyone thought we would suffer losing Sawyers and Maupay?

How many young English goal-scorers are there to make rumours about? 3rd in The Championship, 2nd in the play-offs for a club that's known to sell for big money, and the top scorer. Watkins and all the Premier League teams who are looking for a striker – a clickbait marriage made in heaven.

With so many clubs suposedly interest Ollies value can only just go up.

It might be in his and our best interest to hold on until January. A few more goals would increase Ollie stock (fee and wages) and it would allow us to bed in a replacement from the bench

Come on, who are you kidding? It's not in a purchasing club's interest to wait till January, as his price will have gone up.
Not in ours either, really. If he had a great 3 months, then no replacement is going to get a look in during that time.

Accept it - he's going. We just need to make sure we have a good replacement in place before we sell him. And we will get a serious amount of money for him - not to be sneezed at when fan income had dried up.

That sounds very much like wishful thinking. Why would it be in Ollie's interests to delay until January? He would have nothing to gain and much to lose.

The best case scenario would be that he continues to score goals and performs to the same levels as in the last season but that would add nothing to his value because its only repeating what he has done before. In the worst case scenario he picks up a career ending or limiting injury which wrecks the chance of a Premier League move for ever. And in perhaps the most realistic scenario his performances dip slightly and the flow of goals slows, because its terribly hard to sustain such high levels year on year and depends on so many variables, including fitness, luck and the team's overall form (would, for instance, he score as many without Said's contribution?). In these circumstances he remains a PL target but perhaps wirth a lesser choice of clubs.

Ollie is at peak value. From his perspective this is the optimum time for him to move. And however difficult it is for us to accept as fans, it's also probably the best time for the club to cash in on one of its prize assets.

There's a lot of uncertainty about the market right now. It's possible that clubs won't be willing to pay what we want and that we won't be willing to accept less if we expect the market to rebound. So I suppose there is a slim chance he stays. He is on a long contract, good wages, and is a model pro, so it's a bit different to previous situations.

Having said that it only takes a few big deals to get done and the market could pick up again.

Apart from tv money the club's had virtually no income for 5 months, and might not have much coming in for a good while.
I'd assume at least one mega fee would be welcomed to help cashflow...

I assume that unless our valuation is met he will stay and I doubt he will kick off if that happens but I suspect that a deal will be done maybe late in the window.

LATEST TRANSFER NEWS
SC Napoli have categorically denied that they are considering an offer for Brentford's highly-rated ace, Ollie Watkins, who is linked to Arsenal, Aston Villa, Leeds, Leicester City, Newcastle United, AC Milan and the Dog and Duck All Stars.
That'll get them going!

I'd be up for this being done sooner rather than later if someone coughs up...dragging it on does no one any good and we know he'll be out. Hopefully Villa 'draw' first.

The club will think opposite. They've said before that they like the outgoings to go as late as possible.

.
You can also argue the opposite, would OW score more goals without SB around? Lesser lights might feed ‘the Striker’ more often. Let’s face it, Said is just as likely to take on a shot as to pass!

I wouldn’t worry about that. My brother went on Holiday to Portugal a few years ago and there were all kinds of football players and x players in the hotel. They spent the entire holiday on their phones next to the pool talking to their agents.

The moment a manager got the tin tack the activity was quite incredible with the phones going bezerk.

I very much doubt Ollie is out of touch, he knows he is leaving and his agent will be feeding him all the details and offers on an hourly basis.

But if someone plays by the book and makes an offer I doubt we will hang on until October and the first month of the season is buggered again. Also we need to get our man in, looked what happened last year with ghoddos and the panic getting the other chap in who broke.
