So so happy for him and they were all good goals
The second was a typical Ollie goal but against one of England's best central defenders. There has to be some context here though .....

I am REALLY glad that I don't go to the pub with you. We lost out by ONE POINT last season.

AND we've replaced Ollie with a better player.

This is the sort of narrative that I expect from those born this century.
Not sure I agree with that, Toney looks good but at the moment I don't think his hold up play is as good, time will tell.

In the shed.
Missed two sitters. Villa asking for a discount.

Big article in the Times today (behind paywall) about his rise through the leagues. Interesting read and shows the importance of surrounding yourselves with good people during those crucial early years. Unfortunately tends to gloss over his time at the Bees and doesn't mention Thomas Frank's work with him at all:

From emergency left back with Exeter to following in Harry Kane's footsteps

joins quite an illustrious list

but i would call a perfect hattrick 3 goal's one after the other without anyone else scoring in between

well done Ollie
I believe that back in the day the three goals had to be scored in succession for it to be considered a hat-trick at all, let alone a perfect one.

Cant believe he scored a penalty was not that great for us with them

Different pressure in that league. He needs to grab all the goals he can get.

I was listening to Villa game whilst driving with my wife in car. She doesn’t follow football at all and wondered why when they got the penalty I shouted not Watkins and then when he scored it I said well done Oli. I tried to explain and even got into well Brentford could get add on’s if he scored so many goals. She ask well how many has ho got to score and of course I said no idea but the more he get’s the better chance we have of getting it ! I tried to explain about undisclosed fees and add ons and got nowhere. As she has no idea about GPG I will admit it is frustrating not to know the requirements for the club to get add ons even without knowing the amounts

A double for Villa who are 3-0 up away at the Arsenal.

thought we would miss ollie more than benrahma tbf. luckily ivan has replaced ollies goals, we are missing benrahmas creativity and match winning capabilities more. I knew ollie would do well in the prem although didnt expect him to be as prolific so far. Keep it up ollie and earn us some more dosh!

If any of the strikers in the England squad get injured and pull out this week then I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a call up.

I try not to dwell on the play off loss but can you imagine us in the PL now with Ollie and Said?! Toney coming off the bench.

Just seen them on MOTD2. Both finishes typical of what we saw many times from Ollie. Mrs hb even impressed about 3 ex Bees, with DS, Ezra and Ollie on show for AV today!

As much as loved him I never thought he would take to the premier league as easy as he has...will be in England squad soon. Well done Ollie..
Tbf, Clinton Morrison, who played with him briefly at Exeter, said the season before last that Ollie would "go all the way", specifying that he meant England.

Meanwhile listening to one of the Very Angry Heads on Arsenal Fan TV just now, he said "Watkins or Lacazette - which one is the £50m forward? It's farkin' Watkins!"

Maybe Deano turned us over with "only" £28m+ :fishing:

And some on here said he was a bit of a flat track pony unable to score against the top teams

Rashford is injured. Maybe between Watkins and Bamford to replace him...

Do we get any money for England caps?

Well done Ollie, he has worked very hard to get where he is, and fully deserves his success, nice guy too.

It would be interesting to know if there's a goal target for one of our add-ons.

Of course there is an add on for an international cap.

Plus Villa staying up too, another standard add on.

As for goals and apps? Maybe...

I always temper thoughts like this with one that if either or both had turned up at the play-off final we wouldn't need to even have the discussion

Ollie Watkins has more goals against the top six this season than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have combined in their Arsenal careers.

Another fantastic performance. With Grealish and Barclay playing like that he's destined to get many more goals..

See post 574. Ollie (and Woody) get a positive write up in Hansard in a Parliamentary debate (admittedly from the Brentford MP).

Ollie for his work with Woody, in particular sustaining the visits and relationship after moving to Villa.

(I have to say that I felt for Woody's dad(?) when the transfer happened saying he didn't know how he would break the news to Woody)

That was Woodys mum iirc. I read it on twitter at the time.
Having witnessed the love from Woody to Ollie and back it is an extraordinary situation.
Proper lump in the throat stuff.
