"Probably in his best interests if Brentford don't go up this year, though"
Personal development for the player I assume. If we don't go up he's maybe more likely to get given a chance in the championship as going up would probably mean we sign more players and his chance become limited at a higher level.

Yeah, I guess, I hadn't thought about it that way.

This could be quite a coup if what I've heard of him is true
Based on those write ups amazing spurs could not tie him down. But then if no obvious path way to first team ...as there clearly is at Brentford .... then in players best interest to move on regardless how big their previous team was.

In all fairness, it will probably be detrimental to all of the B-Team if we do go up, the standard we'll need there and how good they'll need to be to get first team chances will shoot up.

From what I can find this seems another very shrewd move though, tipped by a couple of articles/people to go very far. I searched his name in 'News' on my browser and the only link was someone simming the January transfer window on Football Manager, where he moved to Everton for £375,000.

Looks a real steal from Spurs, could be like DaSilva who i always thought was signed primarily for early first team action even if he started out in the B team.

He’s 19 in May, yet been playing for Spuds U23’s. I wonder if a ‘fast track’ carrot is being dangled for the spring?
Think you misread the article above - that paragraph is about one of his brothers re playing U23

"If Tottenham are not careful, they may lose a prized possession unless Maghoma is offered a clear pathway at the club."

This quote says it all.

Another embryonic star who will soon surely be in the first team squad.

Sounds like just the kind of player the B team is set up for! Whilst we’ve got some very good players in the B team there isn’t a huge amount of flair there so will be interesting to see him join the group...

Some highlights from a match I've been sent (I suspect by his agent!)

Wherever the clip is from, anyone with such easy ball skills as that must be a candidate for the First Team squad very soon, if not at once. He looks too good for our 'B' Team, and his write ups only confirm this. Whatever his immediate future he is an excellent signing, Spurs must be sick.

It will be an interesting dilemma for the B team if the first team do get promoted as they will have to up their recruitment to get potential signings who can ideally progress to the PL which may be difficult for many of the current crop. This new lad sounds just the right signing in that respect.

Looks great. Why would they let him go?

As the quality of our first team squad improves, the quality in the B Team has also got better. Promotion will, almost certainly, increase the gap but our B Team players can be quite confident that not making it with Brentford in the Premier League will still allow a good standard of contract elsewhere. I'd predict that the percentage of B Team players who have a 10-year plus career in professional football will be much, much higher than is at even the better PL Academies.

Guess this homegrown signing helps in ensuring that the club can continue to recruit 1st team players from overseas.

Looks a very good prospect in the not too distant future btw.

Hope he does far better and I expect he will.
Oh yeah, just drawing the "there is a clear pathway at Brentford" comparison. "Released when our academy shut down" players such as Eddie Carrington-Alberdi, Timothee Lo-Tutala and Nile John are also part of the Spurs youth setup and are a year or two behind him.

A Spurs supporting work colleague says: "I’ve seen him quite a bit for our Under-18s and Under-23s and never been hugely impressed, but he has been involved with England for much of his youth career so there’s definitely some talent there. His main skillset is ability to run with the ball; I would consider him a number 8. He is the younger brother of Jacques (of Birmingham) and they also have another brother called Christian who was at Spurs but now plays in Poland"

Don't we have to re open the academy if we're in the premier league to comply with their rules ?

Yes, but only to the minimum requirement, like Huddersfield did.

Remember his brother falling over in the Birmingham match and then smiling at the Braemar Road, knowing that he had conned the ref and that we knew it too.

Looks very useful. Could see him appearing on the bench soon enough.

DaSilva was a first team signing.

Wonder if there has been any reaction amongst the Spurs cognoscenti? Anyone seen anything on fans' forums?

Does anyone know if signing for the B team impacts FFP? Just curious
