Good theory. Or Daniels and Bonham are going and Balcombe will be on the bench.
A more likely theory is that Bentley and Bonham will be going permanently and pre-season will have

Patrik in the B Team

Balcombe, Daniels and x1 New GK fighting for the number 1 and sub spots. The third choice will probably go on loan.

Why more likely?

Personally think this means that:
Either Balcombe is getting promoted and Gunnarsson new 1st choice GK for B. With Balcombe playing 2nd to Bentley.
Or Bentley is off and they are hoping Balcombe is ready to be our 1st Choice GK with Daniels/Bonham remaining on the bench.

Sorry, that is just way off, IMO. Balcombe out on loan. Bonham off. Bentley and Daniels first team. Thompson (if he signs) and Gunnarrson for B Team.

This thread has made me smile.

In summary, GPG unsure of Brentford goalkeeping situation for start of 2018-19 season.

Welcome Patrik, any other talents like Brentford’s former Icelandic stopper Oli Gottskálksson’s basketball pedigree?

I AM a location
My summary is, even though it's done with good reasons, we've signed an Icelandic kid who won't get near the first team for at least two years so I really don't give a monkeys.

We will certainly have 2 experienced keepers in the first team squad, hopefully and most likely the 2 we already have. Bonham will be sold and Balcombe is only 18 and I think it is too soon to send him out on loan. Ramsdale went out to Chesterfield at 19 last season from Bournemouth and found it really tough going.

He is 17 years old, it still amazed me how a signing of a school boy can still set the conspiracy theorist off and running in regard to the comings and goings of the first team.

Slow news day/week as far as BFC incomings and outgoings are concerned. We need a good solid rumour at least about one or more of the first team squad going or someone coming into the first team squad, then we can let this 17 year old settle in the background.

Isn’t Mepham off to Arsenal for £260mil? I’m sure I read that on here somewhere.

Perhaps to a non league side? Chesney was 19 when he came on loan to us from Arsenal.

From that link, King Kev quoted as saying: “There is still room for improvement”

As a 17 year old from the Icelandic second tier, I should certainly hope so!

Anyway, good luck young man. We’ve had a good record with Icelandic players, let’s hope we continue

Guessing this backs up talk of balcombe stepping up to the first team squad. Good to see us getting younger players in who appear to be capable of slotting straight in..

Balls of steel to make his debut in that situation. Wasn’t really tested but looked composed enough.

Wonder if he might play the next game if Bentleys injury is serious.

You might find Bentley makes a miraculous recovery in time for Tuesday. ;)

18 years old. Debut away to Boro. All credit to him.
The second player born in the 21st C, after Zamburek, to play for the Bees. :)

Is he 4th choice? Looks like no keeper on bench on Tues!

Wonder if he was nervous. Some match to make your debut. Well done - I bet he's walking on air right now

Chris Wickham said during commentary that Daniels returned to training on Friday. Maybe he will be in the squad on Tuesday.

Hermann Hreiðarsson, Ívar Ingimarsson, Oli Skúlason... now Patrik. Nice one son.

What did he do?
flapped at the first ball in, then got clattered flapping at the second ball. i'm not expert but it can't have been anything as serious as dislocation or separation - surely that would have been noticeable immediately. so probably just a twist or strain caused by the unexpected impact.
