Wonder if he was nervous. Some match to make your debut. Well done - I bet he's walking on air right now
Interesting reaction at the full time whistle. He'd caught the ball and was looking to make a pass out when it went, he clutched the ball to his tummy and dropped to his knees with the seniors running over to congratulate him. His debut clearly meant the world to him and a clean sheet to boot!

Based on absolutely nothing more than seeing him preferred for big B team games and a conversation I had with him in the club shop i've a hunch that of the six keepers we have on our books he might be the best.

18! Fair play to him. Hopefully that little taste of 1st team football pushes him on. It made me think what I was up to when I was 18, probably best I don't put anything in writing........Hello ken

Liked the way that pretty much every player on the field that he passed offered him some encouragement as he made his way to the penalty area

That was probably one of the hardest points he could have chosen to come on for his league debut, away against a thugball team who will be lumping it into the box to try and break a rookie keeper as they push to equalise and he didn't really put a foot wrong. There's a risk of pushing him too far too fast so I hope, despite his numerous errors this season, that Bentley is fit to play on Tuesday, but I won't be entirely terrified walking to the ground to read that Gunnarsson is starting. Maybe he was helped out by the whole team working to protect him in a way that they might not do when a senior keeper and peer is playing.

It says so much about the ethic instilled in the club these days. The 'we are all in this together' attitude. Everybody stepping forward to support and going the extra mile to protect the rookie. There are many club with players who would just shrug and take the attitude of 'he will sink or swim: it's not my issue'

What a privilege it is to be a Bees fan these days

He certainly did very well and you’re right that it was the toughest start he could have ever imagined, but even on the brief cameo I think he is far from ready to be a no.2 or to start for us

Well, yes, he’s basically our fourth choice keeper and only just turned 18..

It’s good that if needed we can rely on our fourth choice keeper though, remember that Jack Bonham started his senior career in similar circumstances and it went so bad it almost ruined him.

I get the impression that the club really rate Patrick. Another mark up for the B team.

As Bonham is on loan for the season and out of contract in June, Patrik and Simon are joint 4th, imo.

Could we not have bought in an emergency loan keeper if Bentley is out for some time. Not sure on the rules for that.

Didn't Thomas say that Daniels was back in training on Friday? If so, he may well be available for this evening.

I thought you could only do that if you do not have a senior professional goalkeeper fit

Good for a loan this season I would have thought to lower league or non league. Moved on from B team but maybe not quite ready for first team yet maybe.

He's in the First Team Squad as well on the website. Several "B"s are.
They just put them on there once they've made an appearance for the first team and have a squad number. Doesn't mean they've been promoted as yet.. Although I think the whole thing is fairly fluid these days.

Maybe but I don't think Ellery or Canice have made a first team appearance yet and they're both in the squad. Could be that they've been on loan in "men's football" already.

Balcombe's been on the bench and therefore had a 1st team squad number. Think Canice may have made the bench at one point too?

The Official BFC tweet announcing his new deal refers to him as a Brentford B player.
Though I'd say he's probably training regularly with Inaki Cana, in rotation with Balcombe.

Balcombe is a first team player. He was explicitly promoted when he signed his contract last year. Perhaps he will be second choice this year and play in the cups. Unsure about Gunnarson's status but this is a huge contract for such a young keeper, clearly they see something.

Balcombe probably has a bit longer off because of his stint with the England u20s.
He has. They said so on the website. There are a few on the "late arrivals" list including Nørgaard. He's got more time because the Italian season ended in late May.

From what I've seen PG appears a very level headed 'keeper and quite advanced for an 18 yr old. I wouldn't use his current age as an indicator as to his immediate future with the club. I think he'll be knocking on that door very soon.

his distribution is also really good and he's very calm with the ball at his feet, something that we definitely like!

Already played nearly 20 minutes for the first team up at Middlesbrough in a 2-1 win, also played 16 games for Iceland, certainly does not need non league football, with a 4 year contract + 1 year option he musty be highly thought of, perhaps a short loan to a top half league one team, with a recall if needed, it will all depend what happens to our 1st & 2nd choice keepers in this window l!!!
