Journey planner is showing trains from Lewes to Brighton and Brighton to Falmer.

It might not have been updated yet for Southern but it does show that SWR are not running any services from Waterloo

Sorry should've quoted @horshambees
Trainline showing a timetable too, but I do a lot of work for Thames link, Southern and Great Northern and I have not got any work with them for Boxing day.(none last year either.)
Horsham Station will definitely be closed.
I understand there are trains from Three Bridges to Brighton, but I don't know if they will run trains from Brighton to Falmer /Lewes.

Okay I have just had a chat with a train driver who used to work out of Brighton, but now works from Horsham.
Southern run a skeleton service from Victoria to Brighton on Boxing day.
Calling at Clapham, East Croydon, Gatwick, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath and Brighton.
He is sure that there are no trains from Brighton to Falmer/Lewes or to Worthing, but if trainline and other companies are showing trains then they may well be running especially as football is on at the Amex.
The advice given was to check Southerns Website to see.
Which I will do in a minute.

This doesn't answer your question for sure for but for comparison
The national rail journey planner currently says there are half hourly TFL Rail train service between Reading and Paddington on Boxing Day
but
Another page on the same website says there is no service at all that day National Rail Enquiries - TfL Rail services during Christmas and New Year 2021/2022

So, I wouldn't treat the journey planner as 100% accurate at this stage.

Yes but the same page for Southern says details available when published. So it's likely there is something just not sure what.

Confusing isn't it.
Definitely Victoria to Brighton on Boxing day.
Once in Brighton I guess buses to Falmer.
Getting back will be an effort.
Park and ride from near the Dyke Road.
(cannot remember the name of the road at the moment, Mill Road I think.)

Maybe not even Victoria

According to this page it is closed for 9 days from Christmas Day until the 3rd January

They could run from London Bridge though

Yes it is Mill Road - but you can't access it from the Dyke Rd end. You have to access from the A23. It hold 450 cars and fills up very quickly - it is usually full by an hour and half before kick off ( according to Brighton supporters I know). I will be using Mill Road but it will be walk and ride as it is about a 10 minute walk from where I live. This could be an option - find some nearby street parking and walk to Mill Rd.

Thanks and I will bear that in mind.
Are buses running in Brighton that day?
Another option.

Not sure, I think they usually run a restrictive service on Boxing Day. A work colleague's husband works for Brighton and hove buses - I will ask her for more definitive information.

Hopefully today
From Spurs Fan Group yesterday

Now looking like Friday for the December picks. Reported issues with accommodating sufficient rest days across the busy Xmas period. Once again, we’ve made the point that fans need to make arrangements and it’s simply not good enough to repeatedly miss deadlines.

When the media starting tallying the number of hours of rest between games amongst rival clubs though it gets political, maybe needlessly so.

The Daily Telegraph have given us an Update

We have to wait until Monday next week

There are eight rounds of fixtures from 30 November to New Year’s Day before the league halts temporarily for the FA Cup third round on the weekend of January 8-9 next year. The January fixtures will follow after Monday's announcement. In a statement the Premier League said: “The announcement of broadcast selections for the month of December has been delayed. Discussions surrounding the festive match schedule have continued this week, and we hope to be in a position on Monday to confirm all fixture amendments for the month.”

So it’s a week late and it’s now only the December fixtures, with January following some time after that (no timescale given)

You get the feeling they always wanted to wait until after this weekends fixtures to release them... and have just strung out the excuses this week.

I read the fixtures for December 2019; last time we had a normal season were announced on the 17th October that year. If we get the announcment on Monday then that would be in keeping with that, the question rightly being asked by fans though is why the PL thought the 11th October was possible.

Update on the Brighton buses on Boxing Day - B &H buses will be running but a limited service. My work colleague's husband is a driver for B & H buses and they have just been asked if they want to work on Boxing Day.

Unsubstantiated rumour
My friend heard from someone yesterday

Brighton away 8pm ko on boxing day!
Leeds away also moving for TV

Don't know any more than that but something to ponder before we, er, definitely get the announcement tomorrow.

I also heard yesterday that Leeds is moving to the Sunday. Also Man City moving to 29th Dec and Villa to 2nd Jan. Could be a load of rubbish but was mentioned to me by a couple of people.

Probably been asked before. I normally drive to Lewes Station and train to Falmer for Seagulls matches at the Amex. Anybody know whether those trains are running on Boxing Day? Otherwise hope the match is postponed a day for TV!

How do these other people know?

If the annoucement is tomorrow I'd say everything is agreed. People who work in media, football clubs, even Police etc would know the details and it only takes a few people to let this info out I guess, if the details are true.

It's not confirmed yet but the answer is yes, we think it's likely there will be something. See approx. posts 151-155 on this thread which may be the top of this page.
