Mods feel free to nip this thread in the bud. But seriously this season a tough one to call.

The BMW are obvious candidates

Norgaard for being a midfield beast

Pinnock or Jansen. The perfect pairing both boasting fantastic seasons in their own ways

Rico. Injury free but showing us what a player he is. Best tackle of the season too (feck off Cooper)

Lastly Raya. Perhaps the best keeper we've had in recent times

My vote is Norgaard

Almost impossible to single one out. We are where we are because so many have consistently turned in great performances. However, l lost count of the number of times after a game that l felt Pinnock had been standout. Not spectacular but dominant. So Pinnock for me.

Pinnock, Ollie, Rico and Norgaard have had 9.5/10 season. The stand outs for me and impossible to choose. All deserve it in different ways.

Da Silva, Said, Dalsgaard, Raya, Bryan, Jensen and Jansson have has a 8-8.5/10 season.

So tough. For me I think Norgaard has been the catalyst for our change in fortunes. Not the best in the first 10 games but been phenomenal since then.

The argument for Jansson is that we looked so much worse when he was injured - if he hadn’t missed those 13 games we might have gone up automatically.

Watkins brilliant in so many ways, probably 1b to Norgaard’s 1a for me.

Said phenomenal the last 15 games or so, but wasn’t at his best for the first half of the season.

We definitely felt the benefit of a full season from Rico this year, can’t believe he’d never made 20 league games before.

Let's be scientific for a moment. League table reveals that we had the second best defence (goals conceded), but joint best attack. Narrowed down to attackers so far then (flimsy forensics, I know). Of the attackers, I'm going to apply the metric, goals + assists, except I don't know where to find this information. Can anyone help?

Then I'll probably go with my gut, like I usually do.

Difficult selection criteria: is it the player who's been the best individual performer or is it the player who's made the biggest contribution to the team's performance? I'd go Watkins for the first and Nørgaard for the second.

Was undecided between Ollie and Christian before last night, but OW's performance swung it for me......
Unless CN scores the winner next Tuesday..... lol

I'm going Rico best player in his position in the Championship limitless energy and cleverly got himself wrongly sent off to boost the adrenaline levels of everyone at the club for a glorious finale at our beloved Griffin Park.

I was going for Ethan. Think he has become better with each game he plays. Not a lot goes through him and is good in the air good with his feet. However now arguing with myself as Norgard, Watkins and Rico have all been superb. What a team we have and I can only see us getting better.

Norgaard, the heartbeat of the side and absolutely pivotal to the way we play. Ollie and Ethan have been outstanding but Norgaard is a 9.5 every game!

He is always there, feet away from the fancy stuff, the rough stuff, the opposition stuff, just waiting to do his job. No bells or whistles, just efficient and effective!

I’m slowly falling in love with the guy!

It seems invidious to choose as the team and squad as a whole have been the best that pretty much any living Bees fan will have seen. The step up in overall quality and squad depth from the next best post-war team from 14-15 is almost unbelievable.

But, I agree, if we have to choose one, it should be Norgaard for being the CDM we've never in my time had and one whose position and play don't lend themselves to obvious highlights like saves, goal-line blocks, last ditch tackles, goals and assists, but relieve the pressure on the defence and produce the platform for attack. Being player of the season would be a good recognition of the value of these essential virtues and their contribution to the superlatives achieved by the team and individual teammates.

Probably Watkins for me, but so many to choose from. One thing is for sure, you cannot under estimated the importance of Jannson, a true leader, great captain and look at Pinnock now through playing beside him.

Comes down for me to who we would we most miss if he didn’t play, and for me that’s Nørgaard. Everyone around him plays better knowing that CN is there.

I could honestly pick 7-8 players. Never been more proud to support this football club.

1. Norgaard
2 .Watkins
3. Benrahma
4. Henry ( what a season)

How can i not fit Janson, Raya, Pinnock, Mbeumo. Its bloody ridiculous

Pretty much agree with Indian here but I've got to go for Norgaard. He breaks up so many opposition attacks (particularly with those incredible getting a toe-ins when you don't think he can/will) and gives the defence a good shield, he supports the attack and ALWAYS finds a fellow Bee with his passes. Overall a cool, calm, classy operator.

Watkins for me, apart from his goals, his tireless running and backtracking each match, Norgard & Pinnock a close 2nd & 3rd, but the real winner has been the great team effort.

For the way he stepped up into Neal’s shoes, it’s a pundit level obvious choice of Watkins for me.

But Benrahma, Pinnock and Raya are all contenders

I voted for Watkins in the club's overseas members ballot, which he won. But the following players deserve a special mention: Raya, Dalsgaard, Jansson, Pinnock, Henry, Norgaard, Jensen, Dasilva, Marcondes, Benrahma and Mbeumo. What a team, what a season!

Just think how good the players have been that so far haven't been mentioned on this thread. It's been an amazing season.

1. Watkins

2, Norgaard

3. Pinnock

Then you have; Saïd, Raya, Dasilva, Jansson, Henry and Mbeumo. They have all had brilliant seasons and would be a worthy Winner or in the top 3 for most seasons.

Eight players. Incredible.

Has to be Watkins for me, not only for his goals but for the way he adapted to a new role in which he didn't look altogether comfortable for a few games. Several other players would also be worthy winners though.

Having watched Ollie try to lead the line at times last season, I really didn't think he'd ever cut it in that position. Well, plaudits to him and the coaching staff who must have been doing some serious (unseen) work with him on the training ground over the past eighteen months. Watkins has been a beast of a player this season. Well done that man! Ollie for me.

Ollie followed closely by Raya for me

There have been many consistent displays by many of the players this season. Shame the MotM didn't continue following the break. May have helped with this or provided an alternative as the most MotM displays. Raya, Dalsgaard, Pontus, Pinnock, Henry, Norgaard, Bryan, Olli and Said. Since lockdown you would have to include Marcondes as well. But for me, after much deliberation, it came down to Olli or Norgaard. For me despite the euphoria of the goals from the front three and particularly OW, it has to be Norgaard. Our players display great selflessness and the opportunity for them to demonstrate their skills is due to Norgaard, so he has it all and has consistently shown just how good he is. He was my favourite after I saw him playing in pre-season.

Bin it.

There have been so many superb performances both by an individual and as a team this year it seems unfair to single out a certain player.

Yes BMW have been scoring almost for fun but how many clean sheets has Raya kept for example?

As others have said, so many of our players have been outstanding, this season but, for me, it's out of 2: Ollie or Christian.

Christian has been the biggest influence on our vastly improved defensive record, IMHO, but I'm saying Ollie for Player of the Season. He's scored goals for fun, given every defence a torrid time, run his nuts of every game and played his part by defending from the front (and midfield and central defence and right back and.....).

Pontus, for his presence and leadership

Benrahma, for his assists, goals, playmaking, creativity and flair

But all of them are gems

How do you pick?

I would be genuinely interested to know who the players Player of the Season is. Do they announce that or is that a thing I just made up?

Watkins for his goals sure, but also his attitide. From the last game alone:

1) When he scored no celebration (aside of a Shhhh to the Swansea bench) because rhe job wasnt done. He literally pushes their arms away
2) HT as they walk off he makes a point of talking to Bryan, cos he'd made a dogs ear of an opportunity a few minutes beforehand
3) 10 to go (i think) one of our players makes a brilliant tackle down by our right hand corner flag, earning us a GK. Turns out its Watkins

If we go up and he stays, future Brentford captain. In any case future Brentford coach

Agree with all this. I was getting carried away Wednesday night and saying future England captain. And now sober I still think it. Ollie Watkins will captain England. You heard it here first (unless you were with me on Wednesday and remember anything said after 3-0). Like a younger much cleverer version of Harry Kane with a better shot on him. What a player. Never thought we'd be over Neal Maupay so quickly.

Most improved player of season - Watkins

I wrote him off early part of season as not being able to play the CF role, my god he proved me wrong! He’s taken his game to another level.

Joint Players of Season - Norgaard & Pinnock
Both have been integral in our success this season, very difficult to choose between them. Both been very, consistently good!

I think it's got to be between Watkins, Norgaard, Said and Pinnock. There's another load of players just below these who've been superb too (ie, all the rest of the team). My pick is Norgaard though, he really is that final piece of the jigsaw. He's been the foundation upon which our fantastic football and defensive work has been built. Really, really want him to score the winner at Wembley!!

So tough - i think the difference this year has been the spine (Raya, Pontus, Christian, Ollie) but then you have Rico, Ethan, Henrik, Josh, Bryan and Said. Said may win Championship player of the season but not be our player od the season- crazy really. I'm going Pontus for his record when he plays but you could make an argument for another 7 or 8.

Nathan Pinnock for me the guy has been dominating home and away. He’s got better the more games he played either with Jansson or Jeanvier
