Many are complaining about the poor turnout for last night's game at GP but look at Wigan - only 7,547 for the league leaders in the Championship. Both Swansea and Bristol Rovers had bigger crowds in League 2. It can't all be down to the weather and Champions League on the telly can it?

Didn't a rather public figure say that Wigan was the arse end of the world

It was the head of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, and that was after she had lived there for four years!!

My wife is a Wigan lass and as good as they come. You have no idea what you're talking about CBU. Wigan was a typical industrial town at the time of George Orwell but like many, including Brentford, it has had a facelift and is not such a bad place.

You should have gone to Brentford when we had the gasworks....made Wigan seem like a spa by comparison.

Thats a bit harsh. My best mate comes from Hindley which is just outside Wigan and many a happy night has been spent down the main boozing street in Wigan. Its not as if Brentford is the Mayfair of West London is it?

I was dumped once for a bloke from Wigan, I reserve the right to absolutely hate every bloke from Wigan without any sane reason. :)

Based on one visit and a fight I hereby condemn Wigan to a lifetime of my scorn.

Stand tall and stick to your principals. Don't not swayed by relations or friendships of other posters. :sorted:
You give good reason for your evil hatred, do not mellow. :nono:

It doesn't look special from the train, all I can say about Wigan.

Why are their crowds low, is it purely due to the egg-chasing being so prominent?

Nope but at least there's a reasonable standard of personal hygiene and not too many peoples nuckles are dragging on the floor.

Long held irrational belief, not going to be changed in a hurry by people with nice experiences of Wigan. :)

I'm surprised you don't like Wigan. The area around the Pier is a lot like Grand Cayman and lots of coins go through the Chinese laundry on Darlington Street in the pockets of trousers.

:suspect:

Surely not inferring that my beloved isle is involved in the laundering of money. ;)

No more John Grisham novels for that man :nono:

Don't be too upset Mr California, my wife is from Fulham and I'd have more posts than nocoat if I defended her birthplace on here.

I get a lot of brownie points for defending Wigan. Now that they're on the verge of the Premiership I'm going to need them!
