Doesn't matter if they are a big club as they get big crowds as so do the likes of galatassary.... rangers are miles behind all PL teams and prob champ aswell
Except that they can persuade themselves that players only go for the money (and many do, tbf).Or Ajer leaves for Brentford![]()
No doubt.A lot of frustration from Old firm fans comes from the fact they're held back by geography. Sky TV make English clubs richer which in turn attracts a lot of investment, resulting in a better league.
I was watching it with the sound low, while I watched Soccer Saturday, so can't comment, but you aren't the only one to mention that. The w***ers on AstroSport for the Bees game.
They may as well have been fully paid up members of the ‘nothing wrong with Saudi blood money’ fan club.I was watching it with the sound low, while I watched Soccer Saturday, so can't comment, but you aren't the only one to mention that.

Oh dearCarlton Cole wins the award for the w***iest comment ever form a pundit.
Talking of the build up, there was pretty much none on our game.Good old Don Goodman called Andros Townsend - Troy Townsend in the pre match build up.
Actually on several occasions he seemed to echo my frustration at the team giving the ball away.... AGAIN....Has Brentford split Don Goodman’s pint at some point? What a miserable piece of work. Never gives us any credit.
I couldn't agree more. For me, Don Goodman called it out correctly every time. I find him one of the best commentators going. He called Ivan Toney as the MOM, and his explanation was absolutely spot on. He said Toney may not be getting a hatful of goals, but his all round play means that he is absolutely invaluable to us. He also called Canos's pass out to Toney as being poor, which is exactly what it was when we were on the break and although it found Toney it both went behind Toney as well as slowing the break. Also, towards the end he called out Mbuemo for trying a trick near the by line and in so doing he gave the ball back to Everton, when we just needed to gain control of the ball. These are just some examples of where he call it out correctly, even if it may upset some of us fans who are inclined to have blinkers on.Actually on several occasions he seemed to echo my frustration at the team giving the ball away.... Didn’t Joey Barton say something similar recently?Carlton Cole wins the award for the w***iest comment ever form a pundit.
He did. And I believe he tried to double down on it before finally apologising.Didn’t Joey Barton say something similar recently?
With Rebus here. Can't stand the bloke as a player or a pundit. Not sure I'll be handing him a Pulitzer prize for making a couple of pertinent observations, he has very seldom had anything positive to say about our team or club in general.I couldn't agree more. Troy is Andros' Dad and is a similar age to Goodman, so possibly mates through their no to racism/kick it out work, which is probably why his name popped into his head.Good old Don Goodman called Andros Townsend - Troy Townsend in the pre match build up.
I think some people need to get out more, making a complaint.I have just put this complaint in to the BBC after today's Match of the day.
YOUR COMPLAINT:
Total disrespect of the UK football pyramid
When Brentford v Everton was announced on Match of day we both was introduced as 'it might be tricky to our next game as the big sale' . Both teams haven't done well recently, however, if this was a male announcing a WSL game this would be outrageous. I am not quite sure how far this has disrespected the clubs involved, the Premier league, the efl, or anyone else involved. Total lack of respect deserves an apology.
Must be one of those new sayings as until Barton said it id never heard of having a bad day/game/work etc described as thisDidn’t Joey Barton say something similar recently?

Does anybody really care what any of those jokers say? They know and care nothing about us. We’re always better when we are underestimated and under the radar. Bring on the Spuds..It was incredibly patronising from Alex Scott, not really sure it was called for whatsoever. Little laughs from Wright and Shearer too, crap production.

The same stuff gets said week in week out for the last game of the day, especially two teams around the bottom of the form table. It was incredibly patronising from Alex Scott, not really sure it was called for whatsoever. Little laughs from Wright and Shearer too, crap production.

I reckon that those who went came away happy with the win but recognising that it was not a good game. As I walked away from the match with my son, I commented that "that wasn't exactly the kind of match that will get stray punters flocking to us."I have just put this complaint in to the BBC after today's Match of the day.

They’re as held back by geography as they are reliant on it for being as big as they are. Had the Scots and English leagues been combined from the start they’d have been just the two biggest clubs in a city of 600k. They might have been Sheff U and Sheff W or the might have been Man C and Man U or Liverpool and Everton. Or they might have been Stoke and Port Vale.To be fair I think Hartson is spot on. A lot of frustration from Old firm fans comes from the fact they're held back by geography. Sky TV make English clubs richer which in turn attracts a lot of investment, resulting in a better league.
Villa and Leicester playing in a richer league doesn't make them bigger clubs than the Old firm, it's just they can offer a better product to managers and players due to Sky TV and other media deals. Take away the money and it'd be interesting to see if some English clubs could attract players, managers or even the fans to games. To be fair despite the quality of football Old firm attract 50 to 60k every week which takes some effort but they're both huge football institutions.

cos it’s more about religion than footballMaybe..we'd never know but in Celtic's case anyway I'm sure they'd have been ok. In fact I'd argue they'd have been much bigger, despite the standard of football the worldwide support stays in tact but imagine they were in a league worth billions playing a lot more big games than they are now.
As things stand they play in a poor league yet still sell out 60,000 every week, how Celtic was formed and the heritage attached to it would probably have attracted a larger active support amongst younger people over the years despite a high number anyhow if they were in a better league. If we're fair it's hard to follow a team not in one of the world's best leagues but Celtic and Rangers keep their numbers up and are impressive.
Oh dear
He has never come across as an intelligent chap
Rodney Marsh made a not too dissimilar quote and got quickly binned. Will Sky now bin Cole?Carlton Cole wins the award for the w***iest comment ever form a pundit.
Of course we’ll never know but my point was about the scenario in which there never was a separate professional league system in Scotland at least in the modern era. In that scenario the Old Firm might have been slumbering giants below the PL for many years. Obviously if you put them in the PL now they’d have a chance to be top clubs in the same way Newcastle have. But 60k attendances don’t equate to challenging in the CL and EL for PL clubs and their current squads would need big investment to do that. Bring them all into the English system in 1947 and they might be battling Sunderland in L1 while Aberdeen is an established PL club.Maybe..we'd never know but in Celtic's case anyway I'm sure they'd have been ok. In fact I'd argue they'd have been much bigger, despite the standard of football the worldwide support stays in tact but imagine they were in a league worth billions playing a lot more big games than they are now.

I think you inferred the wrong things. He said that the other players should start taking advantage (ie scoring) of the work he does.I thought Wrights comment was a bit odd when he inferred that the team were not up to all that IT gives to the team.
Yabba dabba doo!Good old Don Goodman called Andros Townsend - Troy Townsend in the pre match build up.
Cole's comment was actually made on BBC 5 Live I believe. It'll be interesting to see if they drop him now.Rodney Marsh made a not too dissimilar quote and got quickly binned. Will Sky now bin Cole?
It was exactly the sort of quip that Lineker would have made had he been hosting. The highlighted comment pretty much undermines everything else you have said as it suggests that your issue is with Alex Scott's gender.
Indeed. When I saw the earlier comments. I thought Scott must have really laid into BFC.Disrespectful or humour/banter? Either way I can't imagine anyone other that a few Bees fans being a%sed to stay up and watch it. In truth is was always going to be a poor quality game where only the 3 points mattered and that's exactly what we got.
Re your bold, it's true that Glasgow might have had two leading clubs in a GB league had they been there from the start..They’re as held back by geography as they are reliant on it for being as big as they are. "The Story of the Queen's Park FC is so interwoven with the history of Scottish football that the two cannot be dissociated. In writing the story of the club, the more the subject is studied, the more the impression must prevail, that were it not for the fostering care given to Association football in Scotland by this club, the game would never have taken the place it has in the world of sport, nor would Scotland stand where it does, as the nursery and home of football as at present played in all parts of the world. Foresight and enthusiasm enabled the great amateur combination known as the Queen's Park Football Club, to spring into being with a fixed object in view." She’s no better or worse than most football presenters, but she probably edges it over Lineker or Chapman in the togged out in leather trousers stakes.Just finally had a chance to watch MOTD. WTAF!!she did absolutely nothing wrong at all. I hope they reply and call you a silly billy.

Me too! I know I’m getting old, but I don’t understand what she’s supposed to have said. Watched it again and thought it was just a wishy-washy introduction…Just finally had a chance to watch MOTD. WTAF!!she did absolutely nothing wrong at all. I hope they reply and call you a silly billy.
