I missed his reference to the Nelson. My apologies

Apology Accepted.

I think moving up a level to the Championship will bring a few more problems and irritations for regular home fans

No more Ken

Nelson is a family friendly Brentford pub devoid of hooligans or away fans. This higher calibre fan was recognised by the squad as they choose to celebrate promotion there after Preston... King Kev also likes the toliets spent a lot of time in there on the night

Still vague as no specific pub has been mentioned. One of 4 pubs, does not really narrow it down.
I'll just put it down to "nothing really happenned".

Close thread. :puppy:

its the away fans favourite pub thesedays ;) and apparently the burgers there are rancid ;) that a clue??? lol

Pubs around the ground are pretty ***** anyway - Since The Bricklayers went the only decent pub around is the Nelson in any case...

With one exception they will be all closed down as soon as the club moves grounds in any case...

Didn't know it existed until Preston post match?

The Globe is a proper decent pub, the Kings Arms is a proper drinkers pub, easy to get a pre match beer, cheap food and full of characters.

Globe could be a target next season for some of our more unsavoury away fans so they better serve the youth plenty of soft drinks at reasonable prices

I use the Kings most games as convenient and full of friends but The Globe is a better, nicer pub. Fun isn't the first word that springs to mind, probably hairy. lol

The Griffin will soon turn into an away pub - all those Northern Danny Dyers trying to get a piece of Green Street...

It already has, let them have it.
My pub of choice other than The Globe will be The Royal Horseguardsman.

Could be a sticky situation for the pubs if they are caught serving them.

Extended to the Harvester on Boscombe beach. There was some ugly scenes until the police arrived on surfboards.

Never seen such an overeaction before.
The Police handled the loony landlady quite well IMO.

After Saturdays game, discussions have confirmed that the 4 pubs are officially for aways.
This will be confirmed when we play Birmingham and Fulham.

If this is confirmed then I can see a couple of the pubs going out of business within 6 months.

Is there anywhere around the ground it isn't too politically sensitive to actually have a pint?

Royal Horse & Guardsman is going to be the winner out of all this and as long as people I know are made welcome I will join the loyal band of outcasts.

Sounds like the new people at The Griffin are like the landlords at the pub in Boscombe sadly.

In what way ?
The Griffin is busier than ever on a match day and as I explained in an earlier post, being in the Championship will bring challenges for any home fan seeking a pint pre-game near the ground. Due to numbers of fans and police clamp downs.
The Griffin, like any pub, won't be serving anyone looking under 18 and won't appreciate fans drinking cans on it's door step.

Nothing unusual about that.......

Last Saturday - I'd rate the Charlton fans as "Well behaved". Well done to them.

Excuse my ignorance and this might be a stupid question, but do you mean that the 4 pubs around GP will be for away supporters?

I was going to ask the same and was waiting for a reply. It sounds like all 4 pubs will be likely filled with brummies on Saturday. If true it's pretty sickening when us lot who have to look for pubs miles from the ground when we travell Away as we can't get into pubs near the stadiums. The sooner we move to LR the better.

Nobody is and has ever complained about being refused service if under 18. I fully support it.

I am totally against blanket bans and stigmatising of football fans. How or do the Brentford pubs round the ground ban groups of away fans?

Would The Griffin ban black or irish?

I think I said looking under 18, not being under 18.
Did they have ID ?

The Griffin has no blanket bans and the Griffin does not ban Black people or Irish people.

HTH.
