Excellent first half performance and response from Sunday follwoed by woeful second half. The old cliche, "its a game of two halves" could also be used for us, as too often we a team of one half. Lack of depth in the squad is starting to rear its ugly head again, as both goals were p*ss poor defending. Ried worked hard but looked shot on 70 minutes, Rico also. Tired bodies and minds on show tonight. We badly need Jansen and CN back as we've got no chance of stayng in top 2 defending as we did this evening.
Oh so frustrating. Played well first half and just shot ourselves in the foot again. Let alone not challenging for the ball on the halfway line but why is Rico Henry heading that back towards the penalty area. f***ing panic attack we are fragile at the back. We then took not clearing our lines prroperly to literally just clearing our lines at every given opportunity when some composure was needed. They need to regroup and focus on the next game but this one hurts a lot right now

Mmmm... they've won five out of six. They're a decent side, in form. We've lost two in two! BUT, we were miles ahead after 30-35 minutes, but then, hate to say it, out-thought. They applied the Barnsley learning much later into the game than I expected... higher press, condense the play, in-swinging set-pieces, make it aerial and scrappy... and we just joined in with the hoof-ball, rather than getting it down and trusting our quality.

Still 2nd but Swansea beat Forest (note, 1 r!) so gap only 1 point, with them having 2 games in hand. Coventry very important to stop the rot, but I refuse to say "must win"!

It’s frustrating but every team that gets promoted out of this league, to varying degrees, will have bad runs. Maybe we’ll lose/draw the next couple but we’ll still be in there. Let’s get it out the way now rather than in April/May.

I don't know what it is about Mbueno for the last year, but he seems to have a cloud hanging over him. Nothing seems to work on his side of the pitch lately. Should have got an extra winger in if we were going to go for it, as he's a squad memebr at best. JDS tired again and would prefer to see Pinnock on his favoured left side with Reid. Its looking a little predictable at the moment.

We might be second, but Swansea have 2 games in hand on us and they don't look like losing at the moment ( and that hurts to say that) whilst those below us are making ground on us at this rate we'll be lucky to be in the top 6

I don't think it's a catastrophe, but we do need to nip this in the bud. If we win the next two then it won't be too bad overall but this was certainly avoidable.
The idea that this 'is over' with 16 games left is silly, it clearly isn't. But we can't afford to keep doing that. I do think we got casual once we realised how good they weren't, we were very casual from around the 20 minute mark.

The gutting thing is that at the 70 minute mark we looked very comfortable, and Rangers hadn't had a shot on target. We just imploded. Sadly the signs were there earlier in the game - our defending was pretty shaky throughout, we just got away with it. As soon as that first goal went in our heads went down... Thomas Frank has a big job on his hands getting the players heads together. It's very hard not to feel a sense of deja vu when you look back to last season. The positive is that we have time to turn it around, and Swansea's luck must run out at some point.

I know, all I have to look forward to is a long day of video calls tomorrow, make sure I am around at 1 when Tesco arrive and then maybe walk round the same block for the 40th time since Xmas. Then on monday the deep joy of Boris telling us we are not releasing any restrictions yet because he wants his legacy to be the vaccines success and not the cock ups of the last year so we are all staying within our 4 walls until every one is vaccinated.

I think lockdown/Covid must be to blame for some people’s reactions here! We are second. With a third of the season to go. This season was never gonna be a walk in the park and nor were we going to go 35 games unbeaten.
We’ve lost 2 in 24. If they came in games 8 & 16 then nobody would mind.

Its a bit silly to keep saying top two, wheres the problem. The problem is Swansea are one point behind with two games in hand, Watford are only three points behind and winning and Norwich are now 4 points in front. It seemed like we were playing well and second half thought job done. I'm sure it wasn't like that, but it seemed like it. Again get ourselves into a great position in the league, top of the table and it seems like the wobbles come out. This team has talent, no doubt, but do they have the fight for whats ahead? Not over by any means, but as a previous gpg'r said, the promotion winning teams fight their way to win these games. Could just be a blip and all will come good, but we have a poor defence at the moment.
