  • We're better than Fulham
  • We've just put our poor run behind us
  • BMW firing on all cylinders again
  • Fulham do not know their best eleven or style of play
  • We're overdue to win one of these things

I could go on...

We haven't won one of these with fans in attendance, so sods law tells us that we will when there aren't any there.

  • We're better than Fulham - How so? We both start at 0-0 and it comes down to one game, not previous results.
  • We've just put our poor run behind us - By winning 1 game?
  • BMW firing on all cylinders again - Could argue Benrahma needs to find his goalscoring touch, but this definitely your strongest point.
  • Fulham do not know their best eleven or style of play - Not sure about that; I think they very much know both of these based on selections over the season and the amount of possession they have each game.
  • We're overdue to win one of these things - Means sod all, you've got to turn up.

I could go on...
I hate to burst the bubble, but your comments come across as very arrogant. If someone gets hounded for asking which Fulham players would make our starting XI, then I suspect this thread will go the same way. Lets not count our Wembley chicken just yet. Form doesn't count for much in these situations. Lets remember, Fulham went 8(?) unbeaten before the 2nd leg against Cardiff and finished level on points with us.

I trust the fitness coaches to do their stuff, as the EXTRA DAY can be vital to sharpness, with even a bit of time to squeeze in some carbo-loading for stamina?

In addition:-
Bees have scored more goals
Conceded less
Have beaten Fool'em twice
Have MORE quality scorers

Finally, show the boys the 2nd leg Swansea, and the Sunday home match (FIRST HALF 4-0) of a few years ago.....and there's only going to be one winner.

So, back now to the fitness coaches to do their stuff, and we'll press 'em high, outrun 'em and have more stamina as the game progresses .....simples really!!!

The title of this thread has a distinct 'Leeds' feel to it. Quite rightly, other clubs are berated on here when posters on their own forum are quoted with a bloated sense of self-entitlement.

I'm quietly confident we have our best chance ever in the play offs if we play to our potential, but I wouldn't like to be the thread starter if this all goes wrong on Tuesday.

Someone starts a thread to be positive and it gets all the way as far as post 3 for the first downer. Have faith, fellow Bees, believe, this is our time!

Another crazy thread! Add in the fact that the bookies side heavily with the views of the O.P. 6/4 for Fulham to get promoted and 3/1 to win in 90 minutes! We sure do have some over confident fans who choose to ignore the ‘it’s Brentford innit’ past and all those play off failures. Nothing wrong being quietly confident.

I am quietly confident, key word, quietly. Unfortunately threads like this come back to bite you in the arse. But sure, call me negative.

A GPG thread isn't going to influence the result, be it positive or negative words. FFS lads, chill out :D

Threads like this make me shudder. Anything can happen in a one-off game. All we can do is approach the game with a positive attitude and maintain that attitude whatever happens.

Can you stop jumping on threads saying nobody should say anything.

People can say what they wish

For the record we are going to win 34-0

I agree, we are favourites for this one, we must make sure we start strong and I suspect if we score first than that's that.

Will be interesting what they do about Mitrovic too...

If we turn up with our A game, positive, brave and playing with freedom, I would say we are 75/25 to win. However, even then it will be tough, and just a little off our game and we could very easily lose. The chickens around here are most definitely uncounted!

The irony of saying that people can say what they wish, but I shouldn't comment on threads, is not lost on me 😂

I was very confident on Wednesday and posted as such - we won so it clearly had no detrimental effect on the team ;) It will be a tight game probably one goal either way or penalties - no good for the old ticker :(

What good does starting a thread like this do lol Leave it out for goodness sake, we arguably edge Fulham slightly but that is at a maximum to what it is, an edge. We finished above them on goal difference and there is no reason why Mitro can't connect well with a header like he nearly did in the Cottage game or Knockaert curl one in and that's it...

We're playing the team who finished two points off automatic promotion. If we win, then by all means. But 'Reasons to be optimistic that we'll win' would be a better title.

Stay humble, as Thomas says....

Because I’ve been wearing my “Farewell GP” T shirt for a couple of days and will continue to do so until the final whistle and promotion on Tuesday. Don’t care if it does smell.

After Swansea first leg, there was (understandably) a great deal of despondency and negativity on here, so I started a similar thread to this one, encouraging positive energy amongst all of us. Wording and style very similar to this. I'm not a superstitious person in everyday life, but, bizarrely, when it comes to football, I am. So, to me, if the thread worked one time, it should work a second! ;)

Besides, nothing wrong with confidence or positivity. COYB!!

If we can't sing the praises of our team on our own board where can we?! We are a good team and have it in us to beat Fulham. I'm sure TF and the team won't underestimate Fulham, who have some very good players and have been good enough over the season to gain the same number of points as us.

I think the difference in our favour will be that they are not at all set up to do fast counter-attacking breaks whereas we are, so even if we both press hard and for large spells cancel each other out, we have that one extra trick in our locker.

Maybe I'm unusual, but if we lose, the fact of losing and losing to them will far outweigh any transient irritation with their fans making hay on social media by throwing our pre-match positivity back in our faces. Similarly, the euphoria when we win will mean I'll have absolutely no interest in trawling their messageboards and tweets to use to gloat. We'll be an EPL team and that'll be more than enough for me. Either way, the ones dredging this stuff up against the loser will be as tragic as the minority of Leeds fans who spent more time mocking our failure to win automatic promotion than celebrating their own.

Indeed. One of the great technical failings of the GPG is that when you choose to put ignore somebody on your ignore list for being a complete tit, you still can't avoid their inane drivel when somebody quotes them.

There are many reasons why we will win at Wembley the most obvious being we are way better than the tripe from down the river

I'm quietly confident for Tuesday, as I posted previously. However, in the interests of keeping all of our feet firmly on the floor, reasons we might not win at Wembley could be:

-We finished on the same points as them. They lost fewer games than us.
-A number of their players have PL experience. Some have experience of winning a play off at Wembley. No-one on our side does.
-We have never won the play-offs in eight attempts.
-We have never won at Wembley in modern times, nor played particularly well there.
-The pressure has got to us in the biggest games at the 'business end' of the season when we've been favourites. It appears we're favourites for this game too.
-Fulham are long overdue a win against us.

None of the above are my point of view, but I am just not used to this 'we're better than the rest' talk. Those fine margins so many talk about are what this game will almost certainly come down to. It would be nice to have some luck go our way in the play-offs, but we have to turn up for a final first. No-one would doubt that our team in full flow are the best footballing side in the division, but what we lack is experience in games like this. Thomas's challenge is to get his team prepared so they show their natural ability and play their normal game, full of confidence and belief, while under pressure. Easy to say, but not to do.

So Thomas Frank tells the whole world that we will beat Swansea in the second leg but if a GPG poster starts a thread about why we will win, it is regarded as arrogant.

I actually agree with all the comments he made, that is factually true but doesn't mean we will win but I am confident we will win if we play to our potential.

I totally agree! So many big games in the past where Brentford have failed to turn up. I too prefer my quietly confident stance.

I saw a single magpie when thinking about the game this AM, and spent the next minute wishing I wasn’t thinking about the match at that particular moment, so I’m definitely in the camp of fearing any sort of irrational jinx I’m afraid - whilst quietly hoping this will be our year.

Thomas talks about the team being brave, and we all know how important that is. You can't be brave unless you believe in yourself.

WE ARE GOING TO SMASH FULHAM. We are so good Fulham players shouldn't even be allowed on the same pitch. We are the best team in West London and the B team are the second best. Hope that doesn't come across as arrogant. :sueme:

"OK, maybe you were flukily vindicated in selecting Jansen, Marcondes and Mbeumo but lightning doesn't strike twice so drop that Leeds idiot Jansson and his weak attempts at scorpion kicks that nearly lost us the game, Dalsgaard is rubbish so get Josh Clarke back in and we don't need all that showboating and wasteful attempts at worldies so I'll be ripping up my ST if I see Benrahma start and you ignore Halil."

Appreciate the sentiment, but I just feel it has to come from the man himself. Please @Voice from the Braemar, if you are listening, see what you can do.

Easier to save you the time reading through the whole thread. Think the above summarises what I was on about. Superstition, basically. I started a similar thread to this, you started yours (offering selection advice to the main man) (vice-versa?). Net result... we beat Swansea. Just wondering if we could do our bit, by replicating something similar? ;) lol

Yours,

Did we specify when we’d win at Wembley?

It’s a bit like, my regular lottery numbers will come up.

I might be 150,000 years old, but one day my lottery numbers will come up.
