I knew football was really back when Stroud put in his usual performance and the happy clappers were back helping create that very "special" atmosphere you only get at Putney FC (that and the Al Fayed song coming out from the Hammersmith End like Clive Dunn and St. Winifred's school choir).

The best thing about the Al Fayed song is the last line.

Personally I thought Stroud reffed that game very well.
Still a bell end though.

Quick word on the ref and his team last night. Thought they were excellent. Massive gulf in class compared to the Keith Strouds of this world. No yellow cards (Frank the Tank could have had one) and no VAR hold ups. Loved Neville having no sympathy for Leno when Pontus held on to him.

If we lose any games this season, Mhead bee is gonna need a different scapegoat!

.............the bloke behind me noticed him an awful lot................

I can't really think of too many decisions where anyone could possibly be complaining...... but clearly the bloke behind you found something to moan about.

Michael Oliver has developed into an excellent referee.

I thought there were a very small number of soft free kicks given to Arsenal mid way through the second half. But that doesn’t detract from what was a very good performance.

That’s 3 good referees in a row now: Gillett (POSF); Kavanagh (Play Off Final) and now Michael Oliver.

Doesn’t KS sneak into the PL every now and again? If not, we could organise an outing on a spare Saturday, just to keep our hand in. Maybe at QPHa?

I know it's only three weeks into the season but the games I have seen live Arsenal and Villa and the ones on TV I have been mighty impressed with the officiating of the games in the Premier League so far. I thought I would in part hate the Premier League with VAR etc but it's been excellent and long many it continue.

Excellent referee and his promotion is no surprise.

He did the play off second leg last season and did a good job vs Bournemouth and their antics.

?? Where was that from. Confused ! Even the OS says it's Gillett. Must be last minute change.
I think there are some crossed wires... Jarred Gillett is refereeing our game today. From the above link:

Referee: Jarred Gillett. Assistants: Ian Hussin, Wade Smith. Fourth official: Martin Atkinson. VAR: Lee Mason. Assistant VAR: Matthew Wilkes.

Not impressed with Charles Breakspear on the Solihull Wigan FA Cup match.

Some odd decisions throughtout and after the punch up didn't give the straight red to the Wigan player he should have

And had a good pub in Ruislip ( boooo - Northwood boys we are ere ) back in the day
That's about 400 yards from where I live. It's still a pub but is owned by an Indian chap and they do a carvery or various North Indian non halal dishes. Tandoori lamb chops are brilliant. Does a great trade doing funeral parties from The Crem.

18 yellows in his last 4. Hackett did a Telegraph piece end of last year questioning if he's fit to referee top level football. Should be fun
