Gave Fernandinho the freedom to do as he pleased, all game. Gave a couple fouls against Toney, when even without my Brentford glasses, it was Toney in possession and being fouled. Some free kicks easily bought, that's understandable, but there was a good amount of ridiculous swan dives that got given also. And the linos forgot they had a flag to use.

Good performance from then other than that

Known to us as SPA.
Stopping a Promising Attack.
No one mentions dangerous.

Norgaard got cautioned against Brighton for exactly this.
I was expecting a card to come out early when Toney was about to set Wissa through but nothing. It was ridiculous. That set the tone for what they'd do and several fouls later, especially on our left side, still no cards. May not have been the same player every time but it was clever vindictive play by them and Coote let them get away with it.
Spot on 👍

Just for a bit of balance, the referee, Jarred Gillett, is the very same ref who was unanimously praised on here for his reffing of our p/o semi final second leg v. Bournemouth. He was particularly praised for not falling for Bournemouth's falling over and time wasting.

I didn't think he was as biased on here as some are making out. A couple of soft free kicks given against perhaps, but that's it. Another poster mentioned that Man C are experts are drawing free kicks and that's how I saw much of it.

He could easily have been harsher on Toney (who was less subtle in his retaliation) and Fernandinho (who was more subtle).
Gillett was on VAR duty on Wed... Coote was the man in the middle

FFS

He was the ref for Spurs (and Burnley?) away and was absolutely dire.

He’ll be an absolute homer, big club bias will be rampant, we’ll get sweet FA out of him.

One of the worst appointments possible for this game.

FFS. Overweight and unfit and by far the biggest ‘friend of the stars’.

The worst of the worst, fat, unfit, unfair and produced arguably I concede the worst ever display of refereeing over 90 minutes in the home play off semi vs Boro.
He allowed them to cynically foul our players at will without producing a card. Second half a second yellow should have been given to George Friend and he booked Ayala instead by mistake and then he failed to send off Forshaw for a straight leg challenge on Toumani.
Disgraceful, weak refereeing, the man is f****g useless

Agree 100%....I was steaming at that Boro play off...I wouldn't want him reffing a Sunday League game.

He should stick to selling records in his shop in Leeds

You're spot on here.
The refereeing display in that Boro semi still gets me fuming all these years later, and I'll never forgive that **** Forshaw for his assault on Toumani. Right in front of us in New Road. 🤬😡

I was thinking 6 or 7 as well. That aside, had a really good game
Not sure I agree. There were a number of minor fouls which if happened to Man U players were rewarded with free kicks and if happened to Brentford players he just waved play on.

It’s not been the failure to get the big decisions right (VAR also helps with this to an extend) it’s the inconsistency over the little things. Was obvious against Liverpool and Spurs recently too.

Missed a number of Yellows that lots of other refs would have given IMHO.
Norgaard foul on ?? as he broke towards our area towards end of 2nd half for a threatening attack being a case in point.

It's all just so inconsistent........

Extra time didn’t lose us the game but after the 4th goal I loudly said 6 subs, 4 goals, that’s 5 mins plus the lengthy time it took Utd to get back for each goal, the bloke doing his lace up, never seen that before then McTominay, great player, going down later, 4 mins ffs.

Stopping the game to do laces up, new one on me.
There was a time in the first half when a Utd player wanting to come back on after treatment walk 10 yards down towards the goal line . He the stood right in front of where Soresson was taking a throw in , it allowed Utd more time to set up their defense

Like all the big clubs their players do play the dying duck when injured

Ref was OK but seemingly forgot that he was in charge of timekeeping not the Man U team.
Thought he was going to whip out his Panini 2021/22 album at times and ask CR7 to autograph it and undoubtedly enjoyed the Man Ure prolonged goal celebrations but other than that quite unobtrusive so guess that means he wasn't the worst we've had....

With all the increased technology it’s about time the refs stopwatch was shown to the crowd. Last night in the first half the United players were doing whatever they could to break up our momentum in particular DeGae. Four minutes of extra time in the second half was a joke but I accept in this instance it would not if made a significant difference but in other matches it would. Other sports seem to be able cope with displaying times.
Before we came into the Premiership I used to laugh that largest clubs got more decisions but now I am not so sure.

He basically came out with his slippers and a pipe and waddled around. unobtrusive but never gave the underdog a 50/50 all night. In thrall to the big boys.

What an absolute waste of space Bankes was.

I don’t even know where to begin with how sh*t that performance was.

Why didn't he play the advantage, when Bryan was clean through, rather than bring the play back, show a red card, which was wrong.

I know we scored from the resulting free kick, but in the first half he didn't give a single free kick.

Please start, because I didn't see any major decision he got wrong.

Oh, 1 mistake, The red card, but VAR corrected him, which is what VAR is for.

That was two mistakes, should have played advantage and erroneously gave a red card.

Did it again about 10 minutes later when he should have played advantage but pulled it back and stopped an attack of ours.

Coming out 5 minutes after the second half should have started and after a 71 minute long first half wasn’t a great look……

He was particularly weak with time wasting. (He’s not the only one to be fair.) Stopped two promising attacks to bring ball back for a foul. Gave a red card on one which astonished me and was immediately flagged as a clear and obvious error by the remote match official. I thought his performance was well short of what I would expect to see from a high calibre official such as Oliver.

There was one corner that Wolves had towards the end that was appalling for time wasting.

Referees should be allowed to turn corners into goal kicks in those circumstances. Would soon stop the time wasting.

Also - haven’t forgotten our DM exchange. Will be sending something over shortly!
