if ( and it is an if) three or more first team regulars leave it will, again, take time to bed-in their replacements - like last season.

but it goes with the club's model.

and it goes with the territory that the cyber knives will be out if we have another slow start.

i hope we keep all our key players including rico- but of course we wont be able to do so.

Agree with you 100% on the slow start. Which is exactly why I can’t see MB dismantling this squad and starting again, when they’ve been so close to gaining promotion to the Premiership. Replace who’s going with the same, if not better is the model. If these Toney rumours are correct, hopefully he’ll fill the Ollie void and also Ghoddos for Benrahma. Then we’ll have another real chance this time of automatic promotion IMHO.

The Sun are reporting

Brighton in Rico Henry transfer battle with Aston Villa and Leeds as Brentford ace catches eye

BRIGHTON are considering a move for Brentford star Rico Henry.

But they face competition from Leeds and Aston Villa.

Brighton are after a new left-back who can also play at left wing-back and Henry would fit the bill.

While Villa boss Dean Smith managed Henry during his time at Griffin Park.

That's the full extent of their report.

Dont they? Have you seen their transfer dealings over the last few seasons. They are very clued up with their player recruitment and sales.

Maguire signed for 17mill sold for 80mill
Drinkwater signed for 850K sold for 35mill
Kante signed for 5mill sold for 32mill
Mahrez signed for 450K sold for 60mill
Chillwell (youth team) sold for 50-60mill
Looks very familiar.

In that they won't be signing Rico.

If they were looking to the Championship, I would have thought Joe Bryan would have been higher up their list than Rico.

Rico Henry is still a wanted man. The Brentford left-back has been linked with no fewer than three Premier League teams - Brighton, Leeds and Aston Villa - after an impressive 2019/20 campaign in the Championship.

The Seagulls also want a player comfortable at left wing-back in a back five, and Henry ticks that box.

Brighton are not alone in their interest. Leeds and Villa have also identified Henry as a prime target, the former looking to bolster their squad ahead of their long, awaited return to the Premier League.

I hope he's in the same category as Raya.

Sky transfer center saying that we value Rico at 7m, which seems lower to me than what I would think....

Matty Cash is supposed to be going for £14m. £7m a couple of years ago would fit, but not really anymore.

Given that Watkins/Benrahma will both likely be off, we don't need to sell anyone...high price or nothing.

I think Rico is really god but his numbers don't stack up compared to Matty Cash. £7m is a joke though.

7 Million sounds low, this is being quoted as his valuation (not by us I would have thought)

Last year he was exceptional both in defense and as part of our attack but didn't contribute that much in goals/assists. I suspect that's a statistical anomaly and his numbers will be up this year. Hold on and his value will be through the roof next year if we don't go up.

Other clubs can go and do one and Henry needs to be thankful of the patience BFC have shown him when he has been injured so often.

He was given a new contract last summer and 2019/20 is the only year we've had a good season from him. BFC need to hang a 'not for sale' sign around his neck. He owes us a bit more yet.

Is he cool with that?
As Marcondes said, we're no longer simply a stepping stone club. We're a genuine PL contender and it seems from various posts on the forum that Brentford decide who goes and when, it would appear only the B & W are going this year.

Great times ahead.

I still think clubs are not strong enough to push us. We're still standing firm and those two lads are the last to kick up a stink. What a wonderfully run club we are.

We'll that's Bernadette on the New Road tuck shop, found stealing some strawberry laces and they had to sack her.
Martin, lovely old boy but just had a knee replacement and won't deal with the stairs at the new ground.
Warren was the fat steward on New Road who loved a burger. He's been on furlough and now has been binned.
The other one I'm not sure

Villa signed Matth Cash for £16m. Rico is better than him so £20m must be about right.

The club have made is clear that they will only sell OW and SB. It's been a consistent mantra from them. It's not in The Guardian, so it MUST be true!

I don't think Rico and David will be sold this season, but on the other hand every player have there price what the clubs value them at, so if this price is met, they will go.

Of course each player has their price but thankfully this isn't static and what it would take for us to sell this summer compared to say next summer would be drastically different i feel

I think if the club say a player is "not for sale" then that is basically the situation. Of course everyone has their price in theory but if the club don't want to negotiate it means realistically that they know that no club will offer a price that makes it worthwhile. The only thing that could change things then would be if the player in question kicked up a real stink but we seem to have a good group who believe in what we're doing so I would hope even if they wanted to leave they would be professional.

Lifted from the Daily Mirror this morning...:
Everton are the latest club to show interest in Brentford left-back Rico Henry.

Brighton, Aston Villa and Leicester are all considering moves for the 23-year-old this summer, but the Merseysiders are now circling as well and the chance to link up with new boys James Rodriguez and Allan at Everton will appeal massively to the player.

Brentford are not keen to lose Henry and see him as vital to their hopes of winning promotion this season after narrowly missing out last time.

That has not put off his suitors, though, and as the transfer window edges closer to closing the pressure on them to do business will intensify.
Doesn't seem to have much substance to it, though.

Is the Skoda Octavia an estate? If so, looking for an auto one. Preferably diesel, but not essential.

Not only is Rico playing well, but he looks very happy. I can’t believe he’s only 23. Still growing!
