Oh that is so sad, an amazing player. My fondest memory is at Valley Parade in 1985 and his hat-trick against a good Bradford City team, where we scored 4 yet lost 5-4. A defender’s nightmare when he received a ball to his feet he could take it and run with it but often would dummy it, turn and run onto the ball

Truely terrible news. Brilliant goal at Wembley the only highlight of that day. RIP Robbie. Thanks for the memories. 64 - he was younger than me. Gulp!

Oh, that’s really sh*t news.
Far too young.
A terrific goalscorer for us in a period when there wasn’t much else to cheer about.
Wembley summed it up, a top top goal from Robbie amid a fairly dismal team performance.
RIP Robbie

Fantastic player in what was a pretty average 3rd tier team. RIP Robbie

RIP Robbie, scorer of the first Bees goal at Wembley in 84 and the first of many Bees fans first trip to Wembley to see the Bees.

Shocking, only 64

First Bees game I witnessed at old Wembley and Robbie gave us the only thing to cheer that day. Both sadly gone.

RIP Robbie

I remember that Robbie galvanised a struggling side. He seemed to have an unbreakable spirit.
He terrorised defences and suddenly the team believed.

Always felt he could have played at a higher level.

RIP Robbie.

Shocking news. I’ll never forget the two he scored at Bournemouth in the FRT game that we won 3-2. He squeezed the second one right in the bottom left corner as we were behind the goal and then just raised his arms aloft as the away support went crazy. Knew him as I worked at the club at the time. Lovely fella. Gutted at the news.

A fantastic forward in a pretty dire side towards the end of his time with us, one of my fav Bees ever, really shocking news.
Nearly got Kettering promoted to the FL but missed out to Maidstone from memory, a certain Steve Butler scoring loads for them. No comparison between those two ex Bees.
Really sad news.

I remember that goal at Wembley as though it was yesterday.
Although the yellowing cutting of me as a FKW from the Middx Chronicle with the day’s referee, reminds me it definitely wasn’t yesterday.
Unless I’m still 10.

Very sad news

Cooke left Brentford a couple of months after my first game, and I didn’t much of him, but everyone I know, who has been around a bit longer, speaks very highly of him.

RIP

Such sad news and still too young. Decent forward in an average team, always remember on the way back from a boxing day postponed game at Gillingham, when a couple of us stopped of at a little chef only to see Robbie tucking in to one of there griddle specials. Allowed us some time for a chat and was a true Gent..RIP Robbie

I shall raise a glass to the memory of a very talented and hard working striker who stood out in my formative years supporting the bees. Defined in many peoples minds by that wonderful strike in the Freight Rover Final at Wembley but scored many fantastic goals for us at a time when we were a very average team. RIP Sir Robbie.
