Got to say, being a fairly positive person, GPG-ers do get on my nerves when they drag ex-bees through the mud, with a series of charachter assasanations.
Neilson had a poor run in the side.
A different time, set of circumstances, he might have been lauded and signed.
He had opportunity, failed to impress, fair enough - good bye and good luck Robbie :hat:

Very true. He wasn't half as bad as some people on here are making out. He had mostly good games at right-back (his proper position), was as bad as the rest at Wembley and then never got a chance to impress as he was played out of position until the end of the season. I agree that he didn't do enough in the end to earn a contract, but he was a decent right-back.

He played for that big side Notts County tonight in their 2 1 win at Mansfield, their fans like his long throw and think they have a Championship player,Bless em.Martins son was playing for Notts and was carried off with a suspected broken ankle poor sod.Hope its not as bad as expected.

I'd rather watch him throw it than play 'Guess in which direction it will bounce off his head'. Good luck Charlie :sorted:.

I thought he did a decent job in the side a right-back, however, our ambitions require better than Robbie. All the best in the future though.

He started off so brightly and I thought we had a real gem but for whatever reason his form just disappeared completely and some of his performances in the last month of the season were so poor it was untrue.

Was ok at RB, Injuries forced us to play him at CB. Even Spillane had to play CB if IRC, wouldn't say he was our worst player of all time but would agree we need better

Another player who played through injury towards the end of the season. Woodman, Osborne, Neilson, Legge, all had injuries and played on. When maybe once the play offs were not possible, the likes of Bush and Blake should've been used, along with a couple of other youth players.

Completely agree. He was quite decent by AS's standards last season. Good luck Roland :zzzzz:

I guess AS gave him a reference, although I like the comment about "He was absolutely fantastic for Brentford against us.."; didn't he wind Lee Hughes up?

To be fair they were poop against us and he had his easiest game at CB IMO, he should ask questions about some of his other CB performances, maybe even the one v Notts at GP......

A player who puts 100% in every game and will put his body on the line for the team, MA type of player methinks.

Remember he had played few games last season before he joined us so with a full pre season he could be a good signing.

He played for us when injured and out of position so wouldn't judge him badly for that to be honest.

Scotland in Sunday newspaper gave him man of the match yesterday v St Mirren. Qualified by the comment there wasn't a single talking point from an attacking point of view...

Am I right in thinking Andy Scott would have been paying this bloke more than Logan gets? And people think we haven't progressed ......

Hearts getting bigger crowds, bigger wages and chance to win trophies, I don't understand that move tbh..

....it says all you need to know about Scottish football.....England's where it's at for any aspiring coach to ply their trade....Robbie spent a lot of time playing down here....think he'll do well if he gets the brief......hearts don't seem to be worried.....they're beating my other lot 1-0 at the moment:cry:

I thought it v.strange that he would leave the club he'd just led to promotion to the Prem, for a club which had just got relegated out of it. Then I read this:

[Former Dundee Utd, player Steven] Pressley says United's financial situation would have been the "biggest concern" for Neilson in deciding to depart Tannadice after leading the club to promotion to end their four-year stay in the second tier.

"When you look at Dundee United's recent accounts, they've turned over £3m and made a £3.7m loss, which is quite worrying. It's unsustainable," said Pressley, who has ruled himself out of contention for the United managerial vacancy and Hearts' director of football role."

Maybe this should be in the "Is Scottish football now completely discredited?" thread?
