Said it before and I'll say it again. Ronnie is a genius, and in my opinion he's the best Snooker player that I've ever seen!

It’s not often snooker has you on the edge of your seat, I normally watch it as a way of switching off (in a good way) but both semi finals were absolute box office yesterday. Pure drama.

As for Ronnie S, there’s nothing left to say that hasn’t already been said but whether you like him or loathe him, there’s absolutely no doubt the game would be poorer without him.

It makes it a much more watchable final with him in it. He’s a bit of a plonker at times but the best ever to play the game without a doubt.

Cracking semi finals yesterday.

Selby words sounded like sour grapes and my god is painful to watch him play. Ronnie, like Higgins and White put bums on seats. All have/ had flaws but my god they are a joy to watch.

I don’t get what Shelby is on about , complaining that Ronnie was disrespectful for playing a snooker escape shot with power. I think his gripe happened because Ronnie escaped the snookering a way Shelby never thought was possible

Agree if the ball ended up over the pocket he would have kept quite. Rather watch pain dry than watch Selby play snooker.

I think Alex Higgins was a more naturally gifted player than Ronnie.

It's difficult to know what is natural anyway. I would have thought that they both spent most of their young lives at the snooker table practising. It's not like there's a gene for it!

I don’t agree. I think people are born with natural aptitude.
I played football from morning to evening whenever I wasn’t at school and played Sunday football for 25 years and I was still crap.

But how can you tell how much is natural and how much isn't? Why is Ronnie's talent always described as natural but say, Hendry's is always described as being based on hard work and mental strength. I think generally the less you appear to care the more you are seen as a genetic freak. It's the same in football.

Do you get significantly better at driving over the years despite thousands of hours behind the wheel? It’s about how you train, not the time you spend training.

Ronnie obviously talented but completely disrespectful to his opponents on the circuit.

Utter rubbish about him being disrespectful.

He said he would have to lose an arm and a leg to fall out of the top 50. Love to hear an interpretation of how that isn’t disrespectful lol

See the post above - if that’s not disrespectful I don’t know what is!

Perhaps he said what he said with his tongue firmly in his cheek, do you seriously think that he wants to lose an arm and a leg?!

Still, either way he's now won the World Crown 6 times, and none of the young guns are fit to lace his boots.

Maybe he was jolkng about the arm and leg but some of the other stuff was pretty disrespectful. Its not the first time either. I can remember times he played with his "wrong" hand just because he could.

Like in many other sports, sometimes the only to improve is to play against the best and providing people like Kyran Wilson take something away from the experience then all is good

Shame Wilson didn't turn up at the final. Many waxing lyrical this morning about ROS, but he won that final playing poorly in over two of the sessions. Even the 7-1 third session, Wilson should have won the first 3 frames. It kind of proves his point about other players not being good enough. Hendry, Davis and Reardon at their best would all have had a big lead after the first day against Ronnie..

When you're the best, within the context of playing the sport you play, you can pretty much say what you like within reason and get away with it. Anyone moaning about it like Selby did will just look very stupid as a result. The only way to shut Ronnie up is by beating him. He might say he doesn't care but that is absolute b***ocks.

Selby showed his class? in his post match semi final interview. O'Sullivan showed his in those last three frames. After that the tournament winner was inevitable.

You've just made the point he did, but less disrespectfully. ;)

It's one thing to play half-arsed but another to tell the world and their wife that's what you're doing. It's of course not his fault that his competition is not great but a bit of humility wouldn't have gone a miss.

Its definitely disrespectful what he had said over his time but he says it how it is. I think he likes to have a dig at hearn and the snooker circuit wherever possible. Imagine ronaldo or messi effectively saying everyone else is sh*t lol, there would be a huge thing made out of it. Ronnie says these things now and its just ronnie being ronnie. Wouldnt want him any other way ;)

The last 3 frames against Selby was snooker from a different planet.

I have no issue with what Ronnie said at all, and anyway how many boring bland interviews there are out there

He's not that subtle and he hasn't got the broadest command of English but I can't recall Cassius Clay, as was, being noted for his subtle appreciation of opponents, either.

I thought that was more a tactic to let his opponent tire by chasing him around before going for the knockdown. I guess that would be disrespectful in today's world.

Great match, filled a football-less evening perfectly
Can never warm to Higgins after the match fixing sting he was involved in.Should have been banned for life.
Sadly the tournament is not too watchable without Ronnie.I used to feel the same about Alex Higgins and Jimmy White.

I agree Higgins is a cheat and should have been banned from Snooker. It was a great match, shame about the result. Now Ronnie's out I'll be rooting for Dave Gilbert.
