I’ll start this one off:

Alan Ball: Blackpool 1980
Paul Merson: Walsall 2006

Keith Stevens and Alan McLeary. Both sacked after a 1-1 draw at Griffin Park. McGhee took over and got them promoted the same season - 2000/01. Was at their promotion decider with Rotherham late in the season at the New Den  Early in the season it looked like it would be a dead game and so was made schools/community game, so I bagged twenty tickets for my school. As MIllwall and Rotherham both went on great runs it became 1st v 2nd. Eye opener for some of those kids - albeit Bermondsey kids - never seen an away side so intimidated and fold. Players coach was almost rocked off its wheels on arrival. Seemed more like Galatasary. Millwall won 4-0.

Zola after we beat Brum
Not true. He resigned after the Burton game. JFH left after QPR v Forest home game, not ours.

Peter Shilton after we stuffed Plymouth 7-0 during the FT years
Nope. Left two months later.

Mark Stimson Gillingham?
Sacked in May 2010 but not after our game with them.

Ramsey after Marco's goal v QPR.
He left a game later, versus Derby County.

Alan Cork sacked from Cardiff after losing at GP. Lennie Lawrence was his assistant and was smirking away at the final whistle. He replaced Cork as manager a couple of days later. 2001-2 season.

Your right. It seems it was later in the month but it was Lennie Lawrence's attitude that struck me at the time. Never seen an opposing coach look so happy after a defeat. Traitor.
I've seen our Fulham goalkeeping Jim Stannard have a similar attitude when we lost in the dark dark days.

Shilton did well to hang on for 2 months. We slaughtered them and he was getting serious abuse from the away fans as he walked off. BTW was that our last 7 goal win ... can't recall any since.

Not the last time we scored seven but last time we won by 7.

While this is true, Les Ferdinand later said that it was our win over them a game before that sealed it.

Surprisingly hard to think of many examples though... Guy Luzon at Charlton came about an hour after the full time whistle.

Didnt an Orient manager sack a player at half time at Griffin Park?

Wasn't Gainsborough after that?? Yes it was, according to the coatless one.

Funnily enough, I thought we'd beaten Windsor and Eton after the Plymouth game. Hadn't realised that the W&E match was over 30 years ago. Doesn't time...

Was Redfearn sacked at Leeds after we beat them 2-0 at home in our first season in the championship?

Didn’t Carlisle dispense with the services of Greg Abbott within a week or so of the 0-0 draw at GP. Gave him grief the year before and he bit and so pushed it the following year shouting out potential jobs for a fat, useless, unemployed football coach and he completely lost it.

Thought I'd be onto a winner with the managers of already-relegated Luton and Stevenage when we beat them on the last day of the season, but no - Mick Harford and Graham Westley respectively started the next seasons in charge.

It was a game after ours. We seem to be a "tipping point" defeat.

I thought the list would be longer than this.

I'm sure there was a period in maybe the 80's where we managed to get three or four in quite quick succession sacked.

The list of those opposition managers that got sacked just before playing us seems to be a lot, lot longer.

Reading cannot afford to sack him.
£3million payoff would blow their FFP.
Not if it’s spread over 2 to 3 years. Most pay offs I bet are done this way and not in one lump sum. The same for transfer fees can be spread over the contract a player signs for.
