Said will be an eleventh hour purchase by some pointless team like Fulham/West Brom.

Can always hope though - bizarre to think there is some chance of him staying another year.
Or until the next window in 4 months?

Do you guys think benrahma will have a clause like Watkins where the club have to tell him any bids over 18m (for example, Watkins)??

There wasn’t any clause for OW.

The athletic stated he had a weird one where we had to tell him any bids over 18 million and that's what caused the confusion?

Literally just curious if anyone had a clue... And yeah, the athletic could be wrong but seems bizarre to make up

No I get that but I think if clubs have bid then missed out, it could impact him playing for us. Really hope we get to see him play for us again.

Cannot see for the life of me what the point of such a clause would be for either party.

It was cleared up on here. There wasn’t any clause. It was the journos making up sh*t stories.

Cannot see him playing for us again.
Expect him to leave very close to the end of the current transfer window.

I'm unsettled that the OUTGOING SPECULATION box colour has changed from red to brown. What does this mean????? That the red hot rumour has turned to Sh£T brown ?! Someone explain !

They're just trying to unsettle us. (Not a conspiracy theory, obviously.)

Because I didn't like the red, it didn't work well with the site overall. Too much red on a screen is horrible, it's bad enough that we have to use a lot of it anyway. :(

Sponsorship opportunity from the seat manufacturers? ;)

Just about to start decorating. Would you mind popping round to look at our colour scheme before we start? (Are you absolutely sure you're a Brentford fan, btw?)

Also seeing this thread highlighted in red always made me think something bad like selling him to Fulham for £10m had just happened.

Is there any way the red could be randomly speckled with white, black, green and yellow?

If it creates doubt about team selection and tactics for ‘Wall, then it’s served its purpose.
Is it possible that he doesn’t want to go to Fulham or Palace or a bottom of premier league team? And at moment they are the only bites? With Fulham odds are better on us getting promoted than them NOT getting relegated, ditto west brom.

Not if they buy our best player.

Well they don’t pay massive wages, the players will take a significant cut if relegated, and at his age it’s at best a dodgy sideways move.
How do you think they held on to Cairney and Mitrovic last year, their owners are richer than some countries. He will be on significantly more than he is here whether or not they are relegated, and he will have had the chance to prove himself in the EPL. Don't get me wrong I really don't want it to happen, but let's not kid ourselves.

Totally agree (sadly!!). Anyone saying Said wouldn't move to Fulham is living in cloud cuckoo land.

I don't mind where he goes, if he goes to Fulham it's fine by me. Once a player has left us, it's irrelevant.

Fulham may need to act to stay up though, two losses already and I can't see three worse teams than them in the division.

Mitro is Prem quality though, he just didn't fit the style at Newcastle... 16 goals in an awful Fulham team who got relegated backs that up IMO. I agree Cairney is good Champ level rather than Prem.

Fulham and West Brom are as good as down, and with salary adjustments in place in the likelihood of relegation why would Said go there.
I think you are letting your emotions get in the way of reason if you don’t mind me saying.
I think we are all miffed at them going up and leaving us behind but to say “they are as good as gone” already is very premature. Both will need a bit of time to acclimatise to the demands of the Premier League ( as we would have to if we had gone up) and yes they will need to buy in a bit more quality (again as we would).
There are other teams up there who could be in trouble this year judging by what we have seen so far - Southampton, West Ham, Burnley , Crystal Palace and even Sheffield United. For what it’s worth I think West Brom are the most vulnerable...but only time will tell. Said could do a very good job for all those.

Certainly no emotions from me,managed a very nice wager on Fulham and WBA to come down at even money(two separate bets).Agree that Albion are the most vulnerable, and I think their owners have already decided on the Norwich route.

I think we've moved on and have already signed his replacement. However, I'm not sure he has. A month ago it was Chelsea or Leeds or maybe Arsenal, now its Fulham or Palace? I get Palace, that would be worth his while, but he may figure that a club thats likely to get relegated in which the players will be defending like mad all year is a bit of a career graveyard. Its not always all about the money.

I suspect if there definitely was interested in Said, and if the club were determined that he would move on whatever, then he wouldn't be in the squad tomorrow...
Major bonus for us though if he stays.. Imagine choosing between Ghoddos, Benhrama, Mbuemo, Toney and Forss.... 😮

Indeed. I don't like to look for meaning where there is nothing to read, but this strikes me as something besides a purely footballing decision - especially given how Frank has talked about him and Watkins by name separately form all the other players up to now.

Palace started to be linked again on this thread around 6th September so that is over a fortnight of negotiating time. Maybe he is not considered to be moving imminently at this exact moment so it's a case of get back to the day job.

Doesn't mean much long term though - Gray and Hogan both got game time shortly before their moves (Hogan got that odd cameo at Chelsea when we were 2-0 down after missing the previous couple....thankfully he didn't get injured).

that's a championship winning forward line. with our defence already being the best in the championship. and our middle being amongst the best. my god.

I look at it 2 ways. There has surprising been a lack of interest in Said or clubs are simply not prepared to pay what we want so playing him may give him the opportunity to show what he can do. Ideally, after signing Ghoddos we should be looking to sell him quickly. Alternatively, both the club and Said may believe let's wait and see what offers may come in January which is only a few months away. I don't think we will keep longer unless he signs a extension to his contract as next summer he only has a year left.

I will shocked if he is still a Brentford player come 16 October but then again I was shocked we kept him last summer.

I'd say that is better than a 1/3rd of the forward line in the Premiership

why do we want to sell him quickly because Ghoddos has signed? We know what Said can do Ghoddos might take 6 months, even if he does hit the ground running, we have options. Mbeumo can be rested also. Its a long season and last season although the front 3 were class, we didn’t really have a like for like replacement that was good enough to step in and continue the run. Bryan looked tired towards the end but we couldn’t rest him because we didn’t have the options.

Said has his price obviously, but if it’s not met i think as we are now, we’re stronger than last season. Also think the club has been brilliant in how they have dealt with Raya, Rico interest. If the 10m offer for Raya is true, that may not come again, so it’s a big statement from the club.

I am guessing all to do with our financial situation. We just brought Ghoddos, he will probably be on decent wages. We rejected £10m for Raya maybe on the basis we do sell Said. We will not have crowds this year at least. Yes some have froze their ST this year but many may not plus we lose the income from other aspects of holding a game. We are actively looking to buy one player. He may not come cheap. We got a great deal with Watkins but size of our club with no crowds and a new ground we need to think of the finances of the club. Plus his value is high now and will only go lower ...

It’s great news. Gives him another chance to excel again for us and put himself in the front of the shop window. And keep others fresh. He owes Millwall too.
