Now we know why the 'failed medical' rumour was put out. Just wanted to re-negotiate.
Why do all the at the last minute? Something more to this?
To try and back 'little' Brentford into a corner to save a few quid.

What does this mean for Said's salary as well? Surely he stays on current salary at Brentford, albeit paid by West Ham for the first 12 months. Maybe another reason West Ham want to do it this way? Would be funny if Said turned around and said actually you lot can do one

Might it not just be an accounting ruse for WHU? That is, a 1 year loan with an obligation could mean it doesn't appear on the books as a £25m(?) liability for another 12 months?

Any accountants out there?

I read an article about Barcelona's plight on the guardian who mentioned that the cost of a purchase can be spread over seasons whereas the sale of that asset can be declared in accounts in one go. Not being am accountant I am not sure how accurate that is. Maybe we don't need the money in our accounts for this season and can therefore accept the delay? Who knows but it is all very bizarre

Obligation would mean it is recorded now as a contingent liability - without knowing the exact terms it is difficult to say at what cost as there is the up front price to factor in

Amazing how we have so many armchair DOFs.
I have every confidence any agreement reached will be in the best interests of BFC.
I am not party to the facts, so not able to confirm the bad guys in all this.
One person I feel sorry for is MB, as ultimately he has to cover any losses not covered by player sales. Why he would want to still be involved in the business of football is beyond me.

I don't get this. If it is a loan with an option then why on earth would we agree to it? If it is loan with an obligation then what is the point?

This thread is painful.

Chaps, if this goes ahead just get your heads around the fact we will still get our 30M and Said will Join WHU today. Whether it is a loan to buy or straight sale it still means we get our 30M in the same timescales.

Please, just stop all this nonsense. We are not loaning him in the way of a traditional loan, we pay the salary and he plays for WHU for free.

FFS people, just stop this silliness.

Surely they have to pay regardless so it just means that we get it next season.

And we try to get big money for at least 1 player each summer so this might mean that no big money next year. :)

As mentioned above several times...they are OBLIGATED.

The same as Ghoddos with us, they are committed to buy and can't get out of it. Said is a Hammer and we get our money.

All transfers are paid in instalments, this way the first instalment is a loan fee.

Everyone chill out, nobody has got one over us, it is just the way the deal has been done.
Hope your correct

None of us know the important bits. The details. Loan plus unconditional obligation to buy might be a structure that benefits both parties if eg there’s a loan fee of £5m and a purchase fee of £25m and no add ons (other than a sell on perhaps). That might be helpful to them for accounting reasons and to us by removing conditions on getting the full £30m.

Exactly, although we do charge 5M for the 1 year loan and then 20M plus add ons in 4 instalments for the next 4 years.

If it's loan to buy then that is an EXACT replica of his replacement's (Ghoddos) deal. Don't recall seeing anyone on here cry about that at the time 🤔
Probably because we would pay what's due and not try to avoid paying.

Sources close to Ace Face are telling me that you love some unsourced speculation at this stage of the transfer window.

Jesus, it's like a tarts fest on here, so much handwringing without anyone knowing the facts. When have we 'ever' been proper shafted on a transfer deal? Seriously, get a ****ing grip some of you.
Michael Turner? John O'Mara? I could go on....

Why would any club loan out a top player. FFS Brentford get a grip. We are missing CN for up to 8 weeks.

For gods sake, that is not what we are doing.

Its a loan with an OBLIGATION to buy.

It is a 30M sale in all things but the name.
