Is there a stage after 'Strong Rumour'? What's the current GPG rating on this one?

Feels like we are playing a dangerous game if we are waiting for Benrahma to go before signing Ghoddos. If Benrahma isn't sold until the last days of the transfer window then we are faced with a scramble get the deal with Ghoddos done.

At the same time.. if we are to keep Benrahma (unlikely) then do we need this guy?

We bought Toney before we sold Watkins.

Club policy is buy early, sell late.

It is all going fantastically to plan, stop looking for problems that don't exist. We have banked 33M already so hardly desperate, how good does Ghoddos and Said in the same team sound if it (in the extremely unlikely event) where to happen.

Well, with Valencia being confirmed, it means we waited until we got someone else in.

So this is pretty much a done deal i'd imagine.

Yes thats

Thats when the DOFs earn their money. It happened last year when Neal left on deadline day. Looked as if he was staying when Brighton suddenly came up with the cash. My feeling is then that the switch of Ollie to main striker was made the unexpected strategy. I may be totally wrong here so I anticipate a telling off.
I think converting Ollie to a central striker was always in plan. I’m fairly sure it was something Smith experimented with and said was on his development route. Of course the club wanted another option in (hence trying to get Taylor and bidding for Toney even in January when Ollie had shown he could do the job very well) but I’m not sure Ghoddos was slated for that position and sending Forss out on loan also showed that the club had great faith in Ollie’s ability to do the job well from early on.

He had a ban, then covid stuff.
Think there was an appendicitis as well at some point. He was fit for preseason and started everygame until they had signed a replacement and were in a position to sell him.

dont get that

Get what?

The matches he has played in are at the bottom of the link. His injuries and suspension are shown just above. It also shows his career record too. What more could you want?

My schoolboy French re-checked by Google indicates that the end of the highlighted paragraph says "his transfer is being finalised"

I’d have said “est en phase de finalisation” is so close to English that most could guess at it. But then again I had to explain what Said’s t-shirt which read “Je taime papa” (sic) said to a few ST holding Bees sat by me at Hull so maybe I’m overestimating people’s confidence at guessing what foreign words mean.

Sounds like it could be happening tomorrow.

Amiens President Bernard Joannin: "I think Saman Ghoddos is going to leave tomorrow for Brentford." (BeIN)

Believe this account has been pretty reliable in the past, and a few other places reporting this quote is genuine. Still - we got this close last year too, so won’t believe it until he’s holding a chewed up signing pen!

Indeed. He 'left for Brentford' last year and even made it all the way to Brentford...only to jump on a plane with two shysters and go home again. Let's hope said shysters aren't accompanying him tomorrow!

"Saman Ghoddos to Brentford is a Done Deal. Will be official no later than this weekend."

It was just over a month ago that SportExpressens revealed that Saman Ghoddos was close to signing for Brentford in English The Championship.

Now, a month later, the transition is completely clear. The parties agree on the details of a transfer and nothing unforeseen happens in the days to come, the player will be officially presented as Brentford's latest signing shortly. Probably already this weekend.

Exactly what the details of the transfer will be official in connection with him being presented by Brentford, but both a loan with a call option and a permanent transfer have been discussed.

Ghoddos was bought by Amiens SC just over a year ago, but after the club fell out of Ligue 1, the player has been on his way away for a long time.

Now Ghoddos will be teammate with Pontus Jansson, who is team captain for Brentford, who started the season with a loss in the league game when they lost away against Birmingham with 1-0.

Heard the Paris Medical ‘rumour’ also. Hopefully it’s a done deal and we get him over the line this time.
