Really? As good as the recruitment has been, signing Ghoddos who isn’t a winger isn’t a great replacement.

For goodness sake. They, like all DoFs or managers or whatever, dont have a 100% success rate of obtaining their transfer targets.

It doesnt mean they spent January on holiday.

I’m not saying they have an 100% success rate and in my previous post I emphasised the fact that they get most right. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get some criticism when they get it badly wrong though.

7 goals this season isn't a bad return tbh a lot better than a lot of others in midfield
He’s not really a midfielder though is he. I get your point though but he hasn’t got the ability to be a top championship player and I don’t think he ever will have

Good for a lower mid table Championship team

not good enough for a team trying to achieve the premier league

He has his moments for sure. But he is severely inconsistent. Literally sometimes within minutes of each other.

My first post! 4 points:
1. I thought Ghoddos was a replacement for Said. Today he again showed how sharp he can be. In past few games his shooting has been excellent, quickly taken but unluckily. He seems to have a better footballing brain than Sergi, and is less selfish.
2.As others have said above, the key issue is that we are not being careful enough with the ball. But today that was because we moved the ball really quickly in transition, which is clearly more risky.
3. Pinnock, Dalsgaard and MBS know how to advance into space. Am not sure I see that enough from Jansson or Reid. It makes us so static.
4. Bryan‘s problems this year seem to stem from when he dwells on the ball. Don’t remember him ever doing this last year. His first touch seemed to explode him into space. But he seems to be improving each game.

(Final thought, has Thomas given the team the video of 1sthalf-Watford to put under their pillows each night? The probing and thrusting they did that day was perfect, but we don’t seem to have scaled those heights since.)

For me he is lacking the stamina for 90 minutes sometimes less at this level.

This has been another thing I used to worry about with him also he does seem to tire quickly which causes him to play in bursts and that's probably why he seems inconsistent even within a game.

Shouldn't shoot. lacking football intelligence, poor stamina....
Thought he had a decent game tbh. Yes, he made some bad decisions but first half, he, Mbeumo, Jensen and Toney were playing some really nice stuff. The reason we didn't win today lies much further back..

Yes exactly this. Not saying he was a world beater or that some of his shooting today was 'over optimistic' but his movement along with Mbeumo and IT was excellent in the first half. Same against Derby- decent in the first half but as with all our attacking options fades badly in the second. I do think our issues like further back. Despite the harsh criticism of both he and Mbeumo this season - and yes they have both been maddingly inconsistent at times- we are the divisions leading scorers by almost ten goals! Defensively we've by far the poorest record in the top four.

Put Canos at LB instead of that static lump Sorensen with Fosu or Ghoddos in front of him. They can overlap and Fosu can defend if Canos goes on a run.

@Stormbee, why do you think MBS is static? As a CD he was always pushing forward, and some of his long balls were very accurate and dangerous (some not!). in his interview he admitted that he held back at first as LB, but that’s surely natural ? He says he will be more adventurous. But i do see what you mean about Sergi, as he can defend well when minded to. In fact, his Hollywood ball to Bryan in the Preston game, was made out of deep defence !

Yep , thats the level of comment I expect on here. What a shame that people are not allowed to float an opinion without morons calling them w....s , scum or telling them to shut up.

I don't think it's the worst idea. Canos would probably be more suited to Left Wing Back which I recall he excelled in against Sheff Wed at home a couple of seasons back, however I'm not sure he's strong enough defensively to play their in a flat back four and I think Frank will persist with that. I would give Roerslev a chance.

Nearly 200 appearances in this league his end product & majority of play is still poor. Not really good enough is it. I’m more surprised when he does something good now tbh. Not to say I don’t have love for sergi but he’s a passenger in a team where’s he’s one of the more experienced in our set up....
I would dread to think how the players and staff view the contribution of some of our 'supporters' in achieving our goals. Anything from voting to undermine our project to slagging them off in public. Whilst they pop their heads above the parapet twice a week in an attempt to entertain us some repay them by running them down knowing that they will never have to justify their opinions to those that they attack. Ignorance or cowardice? Take your pick.

Sounds horrendous! both Sergi and Fosu switch off defensively and forget to track back. Lets not add to our problems. Sorenson is doing fine..

Don't know how old Sergi is, but he is making the right decisions on occasions. They reckon up to 25 for the male brain to mature and that decision making is one of the last things to mature. When on his game I think he is brilliant. After a horrendous injury and being shifted into different positions, he is improving. But it's not something you can switch on and leave on. It's that devilment that is one of the things that makes him a problem for the opposition.

I think he's a classic 'confidence player' – when he's got that, he will play instinctively and can do some brilliant things; give him time to think about anything and he'll often make the wrong decision; then, when he's trying too hard and with all his emotions raw, he'll make the wrong decision more often.

Just turned 24. He’s said how much he benefits from having fans cheering on. When they’re in the ground there’ll be a lot more willing him forward and drowning out the moaners who are muttering “rubbish, will lose the ball, get him off” but now the latter group are louder and fed right into his mentions.

24 years old, missed a year out of football and played 200 games for us.

Deserves a bit more respect IMO.

Admittedly his decision making could be better and is very hot and cold. Competition and rotation would be better. As i said months ago, i doubt the club or Sergi for that matter would have saw him playing this many games this season after so long out. I think its testament to the hard work of the medical dept that SC has managed to play this many games in such a short period of time after that lay off.

is he a Prem starter? prob not but i would 100% rather him in my squad who has the commitment and love for our club then replace him with an unknown who couldnt care less. He has ability, its about consistency.

He was better than Mbuemo, regularly is

They've both been poor this season. The difference is that Mbeumo showed what he was consistently capable of last season and is still extremely young where as Canos has just declined since his first loan spell and has never showed any sustained periods of consistency.

Sergi's had his most productive season ever this year.. 🤷

He's also only 2 and a half years older than Bryan...

That is bull.

Canos has been great for us over the years and is still very young......as said before, he was carrying us before he got injured, he was even our best player for a month or so around the time of Cardiff away.
the fact he’s playing as much as he is this season is testament to him and the club.
Canos has had better spells and more involvement than Mbuemo this season.

Canos has too many using him as a scapegoat when we are where we are collectively, he’s no worse than others have been

And Mbuemo has been consistently poor since last season restarted

Needs offloading and replacing next season. Simply not good enough.

You're entitled to your opinion of course but an odd one to offer on the back of a half decent performance from the lad. Probably the best of our attacking options today.

With regards to your wider point Sergi has had an overall positive contribution for me. I don't buy into the Twitterati Canos haters mantra. Inconsistent at times - yes, wasteful with the ball on occasion - yes but also a player who possesses skill, two footed, has goals in him and at his best good vision and an excellent range of passing. On the back of a very serious injury he has come back had the almost impossible job of filling Said's boots. He's worked on his fitness and defensive game and if you watched the game closely yesterday you would have seen him calm down a very irate Toney after yet another poor reffing decision and then console Mbeumo after another air shot - small glimpses of a player who understands the team ethic and genuinely cares about the club and his team mates.

Maybe we will bring in other wide players next season but Canos is still a youngster and still improving and I personally think he's got a lot more to offer us.

Since JDS’s injury we have been lacking in attacks with the the mid field running with the ball.Give Sergi his due he was the only player yesterday to do so.
Slightly off subject Poland proved running with the ball certainly caused England a lot of problems.

Mbuemo hasn't been great this season, but we know how good he can be because of last season.

Also it's unfair to make allowances for one player because of his age, then not give the same leaway to Mbuemo who is 2 years younger.

We need to give them both a break. They'll both come good.

He was the first one to offer a chin up message to Bryan following the latter’s air shot. A thoughtful young man.

Sadly we don’t have enough options up front to challenge either Sergi or Bryan who haven’t been consistently good enough for us this season.
Last term both wide players, Benrahma and Bryan were often game chargers, bar a cracking month from Sergi after Xmas it’s been few and far between and they need to be better.

That’s my whole point, scapegoating one player isn’t fair, especially when the reasons given for one are the same as for another who isnt being scapegoated.

I’m not one for chasing our players on social media at every given chance to berate. I like to think I give a reasonable view on things.

With your quote that they’ll come good, it’s too little too late now. Our wide players generally have been too inconsistent. More off than on. On top of that too many mistakes at the back have cost us too.

I think he was unlucky to be called for that foul early on ,

It was never a foul and prevented a dangerous attack that was likely to favour a goal more than not.
The ref made a couple of decisions that were game changing yesterday especially the blatant handball for a pen, arguably 2 pens.

As sh*t as the ref may have been yesterday, it doesn’t excuse our performance in the game, and for how many games now leading up to this game

They’ve both been bang average most of the season, but I also put blame at the DOF’s for not providing them with better competition.

Blame the DOFs ?

Our accounts aren’t as Rosie as we may think.

do you disagree with the clubs pre forest match interview, on the how the recent change in politics has hindered our way of recruitment ?

Firstly I think it's doing Canos a disservice to say that he hasn't been good enough other than one 'Golden Month'. He has had dips in form no doubt but I think with the exception of a handful of undoubtedly below par performances he has done well. Mbeumo I think you have more of a point with as he has genuinely struggled to replicate anything like his form last term though several mitigating factors can be cited.

The second fact is that we are the leagues leading scorers by eight clear goals - 66 with Bournemouth next on 58- so whilst you can talk about the inconsistency of both the issue for me lies in the stupid goals we are conceding at the other end of the pitch with another outstanding example of this on Saturday denying us the three points.
