MoM by miles tonight. Ran his socks off and the only one willing to try and make something happen. I’ve been on his back at times this season but tonight he’s one of very few who can hold their heads high.

Yes he missed a chance but at least it was nice to see someone get forward. I think everyone else was on the edge of our own box at the time.

If you watch it back it wasn't so easy. He was running at speed under pressure and the ball very central. It was the right idea to chip, but the ball just in the middle of his stride, instead of on his right foot. Shouldn't have been slated for it.

Bet he gets mullered by the Twitter mob.

Creating chances was not our problem today and Canos was involved in creating many.

Finishing our chances was a big problem and Canos missed our biggest one.

It’s a conundrum.

Canos was excellent today, he was everywhere, drove the team forward and was really good on the ball. Gutted for him the chance didn't go in. Thought he made the right decision to chip it over the keeper but just got a bit too much spin on it.

Got to say after he missed I was straight on WhatsApp with the fear that his head would be gone now but he proved me wrong and hopefully it's a sign that his mental strength is back. It does make it even more annoying that he couldn't find the finish though.

He did everything right with that chance except hit the bloody target, when he dinked it over Etheridge I thought that's a quality finish then somehow someone moved the goal posts. It was a shame as his performance deserved a goal, he linked play well and battled hard.

when we are struggling to score and really need some points on the board you dont need to be trying fancy little dinks, the golden chance tonight

It was the right attempt to beat the on rushing keeper he just missed the target.

seeing the angle from behind the goal , there was a glaring space where he should have slid it the other side of the keeper but he tried a little dink. Even putting his foot through it would have been better imo

Yeah, the keeper committed himself and left that inviting space. Shame. For the want of a nail......and all that.

Considering he normally completely fluffs his lines when 1 on 1 it was a very composed finish (except he missed)

You've got to feel for Sergi. Best player by a fair bit in midweek, then gets dropped and we pull out a performance like that. Fair play to him for coming on and making a big contribution.

For my sins I looked at twitter earlier and some are still criticising Sergi (after a 5-0 AWAY win) and how they hope we never play Sergi again. The abuse he has had to endured the whole year is in par with the racist abuse some other players have received. Totally unacceptable and I for one would wish BFC twitter admin just blocks these ****s.

Couldn't agree more. Probably our best player in the Brum bore draw, somewhat unlucky to benched with the formation change but didn't feel sorry for himself and a goal and an assist in his 15 minute cameo. Said he might never be but a important part of this squad and deserves more recognition for that rather than this vindictive abuse from a small minority of complete morons.

Great to see him score so soon after coming on. Another confidence booster, I hope.

The change in formation dictated it . Absolutely nothing against Sergi and he could also be a revelation in the Toney support role coming off bench for Forss.

Even if you don’t rate him I think you can’t really be a Bee if you don’t love Sergi.
This, one hundred times, this.

A player intrinsically linked with our Championship era, who loves playing for the club, his teammates and the fans. Passion personified.

Great to see Sergei in the BBC's top scorers list with 8 goals and 5 assists. What an impact he made to bolster our G.D. yesterday.

He’s quite likely to end up with double figures in goals and decent no of assists. Can’t ask too much more than that from a wide player. For me he seems to be maturing a little in recent weeks. Doesn’t seem to be getting as frustrated and has been motivating other players and even pulling Ivan away from aggro.. was so happy for the team yesterday even though he’s got to be disappointed in being dropped to the bench. Fantastic attitude ...

If we stick to yesterday's formation he has performed well at wingback before if memory serves well - if we need an even more attacking option on the right. Fantastic cameo from him yesterday.

Agreed. Could see him one game coming on as sub to replace Forss and another game coming on for Roerslev. This formation does provide us with many more options and as a result strengthens our squad and hence bench

With 9 goals, he’s equalled his best scoring season for us. Enough games left to get a couple more....
His first 9 championship starts & 6 substitute .....0 goals 0 assists
Putting this down to returning after a long injury layoff and getting his sharpness back

Since then 20 starts & 5 subs,,,,,8 goals 5 assists
Excellent stats for a wide player

He is a great player, but has allowed mentality to get in his way. He must be fearful of injury, which wouldn't be surprising. Two good performances on the trot, again. I think he could mature to do it in the top flight. Very likely, I submit.

Then when he leaves, they'll say he's disloyal.

unsurprisingly very little comment on these stats, however they’re worth a look, particularly for those who’ve wondered why Sergi’s been getting regular starts ahead of other players. These are the sort of stats the club do pay attention to and for Sergi to be up there with the likes of Buendia is a great achievement even if he has missed the odd chance here and there..

200 games for Sergi today.

Has received some very strong criticism lately but no doubt he is a good player with a top attitude and work ethic. Pleased he is one of ours.

Lovely tweet from Sergi here. Thought he made such a difference when he came on. Without JDS we don't have another player with the directness that he has to just run at defenders and into the box. Has to start from now on somehow..

This for me is so important. I never mind a player losing the ball if they are trying something positive. What really rankles with me is players losing the ball trying to pass the f***ing thing back to Raya!
