It always irks me when people lay into Sergi when he’s off form, he feels like family and loves this club as much as we all do.

Great to see him unleashed on Sunday and I wonder how the stint in a more defensive role will have actually helped him develop a better positional understanding in forward positions.

I’ve got lots of time for Sergi. What irked me was the criticism he was getting at the start of last season when he was still finding his way back from a potentially career threatening injury.

As he’s now clocked up more than 200 games for us, was integral to our promotion and scored our first PL goal, he must be BFC Hall of Fame bound.

I couldn't disagree more. You are implying that it's acceptable for things to be thrown onto the pitch because a player annoys you. Also, yes he went down but there were no further theatrics, he then got up and walked away. Still he got what he deserved eh!
Who said it's acceptable, relax. Don't twist my words, my mrs already does that for me.

What I'm saying is by goading the fans i'm not going to feel sorry for him if something happens because of a consequence of those actions. Is it right, nope. Was he asking for attention and a negative reaction from the Leeds fans, absolutely.

Not a great game from Sergi today but sure he will come back. Do we have a set piece coach anymore? Hope the response is no, because the answer would then be we need one desperately.
I believe our set piece coach left and joined arsenal in the summer and that kev O'Connor has taken over this responsibility I must admit set pieces have been disappointing this season as with our height and strength we should be doing better.

Sergi didn't look at all happy when he came off.
Could be another hamstring/long term one.....😕

Hopefully not too serious as he went down in front of the bench and was rubbing that area, he got up and playecd on for a bit before ultimately going down in our area.

Looked a bit distraught when he went off. Hope it’s not too bad.

Not been great in duels compared to other players in a similar role in the PL... I suppose nothing we didn’t already know.

The Big Dipper is also the key to spotting the Little Dipper and its constellation Ursa Minor. Begin by looking at the two stars that form the right side of the 'cup' and follow a straight sight line due north and you will see Polaris, the North Star, shining brightly. Polaris is the end star of the Little Dipper's 'handle.' The handle is actually the 'Little Bear's' tail, and the cup forms part of the bear's side. When we locate the Little Dipper, we've also located Ursa Minor.

It does miss quite a lot of information. Sergi is also one of players making the highest number of tackles so while he’s letting players past more than many WBs he’s also stopping a lot more because we face more attacks. He doesn’t make a lot of aerial duels because we play our CBs, CDMs and Toney to do that work (cf Trent near Sergi in the plot- he also doesn’t do a lot of aerials because why would he with VVD and Matip by him, hence also the structural weakness TF spotted in overloading his side- TAA is of course a superb WB/FB anyway).

So, both these indicators – dribbled past and number of tackles – show that other teams target our RHS. This is probably due to a number of factors, including: attacking wide is the way around our system generally; Henry is a relatively strong defender; Canós plays high and is often out of position. Roerslev hasn't done 900 minutes to appear on this chart but it would be interesting to compare.

It’s an almost completely meaningless plot- it has Cancelo, an absolutely superb FB, pretty much in the same place as Burnley’s Lowton, who had a great game against us but that’s about it.

This graph only plots ariel duels, not tackles. Wouldnt expect Sergi to do well on that basis, indeed, how many ariel 'duels' does he actually compete in. He has headed the ball clear from the penalty area plenty of times, but not sure these would count as ariel duels

Yes a good analysis AB, Frank has gone on record stating we are effectively playing a Winger in the role so it's not a like for like comparison. Canos is actually 16th in the PL tackle stats which is quite impressive for a player who you wouldn't have said excelled in the defensive arts. He on occasion plays very high but that's what he's asked to do. Obviously the best teams in the league will try to exploit this but we accept this risk. Other than a handful of games Canos has done well this season. Roerslev who is a more conventional out and out Wing back and has shown good creativity - especially against Villa. It's good to have options.
Regarding the overall stats look how poorly Dallas comes out but again he doesn't play a conventional full back role for Leeds either and spends more of his time in a midfield or attacking Wing back role.

Really struggled last night. Was evident he was out of position. Time to stop doing it & use Steven’s if Henry’s injured or get that Braga LB in that were linked with. Canos would be better suited coming on as a sub if being used at LWB

Think he could be out for a couple of weeks now if he has aggravated his hamstring injury. No denying he did struggle this evening, although none of the goals came down his flank he didn't get into any meaningful attacking situations.

Totally agree. Time for him to influence games from the bench. We know he’s got a lot to offer but he doesn’t deserve a place in the starting 11 atm. Need Rico back ASAP

I’d much rather see Sergi as part of the 3 upfront
We knew Dalsgaard was at the end of his contract. Poor planning, or maybe a gamble on Roeslev/Canos that hasn’t worked. Will Stevens be Rico’s understudy? Canos isn’t turning out to be the answer, not that it’s Sergi’s fault. He’s better up front.

He looked distraught when it happened, could tell he instantly knew this would rule him out of the Liverpool game. Poor guy, going back to Anfield clearly means so much to him.
