Played well and showed passion; injected at least some dynamism into the attack and worried the opposition.
Fantastic swerve and vault to avoid HD's vicious challenge.
I noticed he was shaking his head in disappointment, when he was substituted and watched the subsequent quality of play onfield.
Only downside, was his fake reaction and throwdown, to a slight touch of a hand by the opposition; catching " an EM" trend.
Not sure where I sit on this one - we have some poster bemoaning our naivety in coming up against the dark arts and wishing we could employ our own and then other posters not happy with Sergi and Marcondes employing said dark arts.

Thought he looked one of our better players yesterday. Could use his energy and agression in midfield, especially if Jensen is out for a while

Cynical play and fakery only works, if it looks convincing; fake falling, only distracts the officials from awarding free kicks and penalties, from "real" events, as per PJ pulldown and CN bodyslam follow through, yesterday.

Penetrating in attack and successfully tackled in defence. This was, for me, his best performance, strange as it may seem. I have been less impressed in games when people seem to have been singing his praises, but generally, I try not to be negative . It seemed that he flattered to deceive in the past.
He definitely deserved a wonderful assist and looked energetic when he was hooked. Could that be Thomas looking at last seasons script?
He was the first Bee to engage with a feisty Brum and kept at it.
This is how I see it. If he has been underperforming, he wasn’t yesterday. If I was to be at all negative it would be to ask if he’s putting himself in the shop window. Any neutral would have been impressed.

I’d be surprised and disappointed if he were to be angling for a move having just had the opportunity to cement a starting place after injury. More than anyone else in a long time he seems to love playing and to love playing for us. Sturdy professionalism has its place but that joy is an important thing, it’s the last vestige of what we used to see when teams were made up of local lads proud to be playing for their team.

No chance of angling for a move. Was given a new contract while he was crocked, wasn't he?

I've only watched the highlights but Sergi stood out. His run into the box was exceptional and surprised he hasn't been criticised for brilliantly straddling the flailing challenge in the box. 99% of players would have trailed a leg and gone down for a pen. That is how Sergi plays, honest and passionate and I love him for it. Tries too hard might be his epitaph but he could be one hell of a player.

I think Nørgaard has the calmness to point out continuing transgressions to the referee, without too many theatricals... he is, after all, the collector of yellows for us.

Did sergi go off injured ?bbc reported sub due to injury ...
Looked like sub was planned. Oherwise we got Baptiste stipped, booted up, trip to the loo, shinpads on, tactical briefing, all done in 0.1 seconds

Thought he had a good game especially when we got the ball out to him enabling him to have a run at his man.

Good whenever he got the ball but he seemed starved of it for large periods, most our play was going through mbeumo or direct through toney. Whenever he crossed the ball though it was dangerous. No worries about him atall imo

Can You See The Real Me?
First half I forgot that he was on the pitch, but to be fair he came to life in the second half, and helped in the build up for the first goal.

Probably answered within my own question, but what's the deal with the ****terati hate towards Sergi at the moment?
Is it because there's a need to have multiple hate figures within the squad now rather than just one??........🥺

Can't understand it myself.

He had a long period out with a very bad injury, so has done well to come back.

Usual sort of suspects on Twitter. Bunch of eejits. I currently question whether Sergi is consistently good enough to start, but I also take account that the lad had a long recovery from a nasty injury.

Regardless of whether Sergi ultimately proves he's good enough or not, there's no need to attack him in the malicious way some of those ****s on Twitter have.

One of our brighter players today, superb crossfield ball to start move for our 2nd goal. As usual subbed when BM was having an absolute shocker.

The Twitter Twits who are on his back really need to take a long look at themselves and go and support someone else.

Sorry, but he was pants.

His decision making is so poor. Plus his defensive duties are not up to it. At this level, we need better. IMO.

Agree. For an attacking player, much more is needed from his end product. Today is not a day for making a judgement on him, but it's become a common trait since he rejoined. Best use of him is coming on to run at a tiring defence with 20 to go imo.

Invisible bar 1 pass. When he hasn't got the ball he doesn't fit in to how we want to play. And when he does have the ball his decision making is as poor as when he joined us on loan as a 18yr old.

As others have said, today’s not a day for digging out individuals, but this point is the one that’s saddest about Sergi. It’s not a one game thing. With age and injury he’s losing pace, but he hasn’t made up for it in nous or guile. It’s “head down and charge” and not much else. And he just gives the ball away in ridiculous situations. As I say, it’s sad, because everyone loves his puppy dog enthusiasm, but he’s further away from the necessary level than he’s ever been. Don’t really see how he’s going to reinvent himself either?

Behind JDS and Toney in terms of performances today but definitely one of the better players out there.
Apart from tracking back, and he was dreadful at that. We need all our midfield players working, others have stated this before on here and I watched out for it. I love Serg but he needs to improve on this. The midfield was invisible today, it was drastic.

Not good enough to be a starter - lots of enthusiasm but Said must start assuming he is still with us for Coventry

I think I'm going to have to watch this one again, because I disagree with most of the last dozen posts or so. Thought he was our third best player today. Over-reaction from you lot or rose-tinted from me?

But it is not only Serg,90% of the team and the management need to hold their hands up. past performances of late are a bit of a worry.

Nope you're not the only one. He gave Thompson decent defensive cover for me today. I think Canos is the new whipping boy in some quarters. Not enough end product at times I would agree but for me he's been a regular 7/10 player this season. What did Mbeumo, Marcondes, Jensen offer today? Yeh Mbeumo made a goal but also cost us one. Canos was not the problem today.

Love Sergi’s attitude and his enthusiasm but feel we need better in the squad to make Top 2, also his match fitness has always been a problem, especially for a 23yr old, always seems to be knackered after 60mins

I think we all agree we love Canos. He is a top bloke, gives 100% and loves the club and we love him.

but....

he isn’t good enough for a promotion chasing Brentford side. He was good enough when we were mid table, enjoying every season. But if we are serious about promotion - he needs to be a squad player at best.

You can say he’s just come back from injury etc but the first 2/3 years it was the same. Hot and cold.

great cross field pass today

but for their 1st goal he played the ball away out of defence, shimmied past someone (the good) then instead of playing it wide, played a central pass to Toney who it never reached and 15 seconds later it was 2-1. (The bad)

like I say I love the guy and want him to succeed. But to me, he never will be the player we need now.

Canos was one of our better players first half and was by some distance not our worst in the second! He also always looks interested and works hard. Look elsewhere for those deserving criticism!

Not a “scapegoat”. Just saying how it is, imo.

We are a solid championship side. However, if people want to go up, we’ll need better than Canos.

all of that......i think that sums it up perfectly........great bloke but i think the boat has sailed and like jensen and marcondes.....and probably mbeumo too, we need better if we are to progress
