Hoped he'd be the 'oven ready' replacement for CN but I'm slightly concerned about his fragility. Any thoughts anyone?
I'd say you can just write it off as bad luck so far. It's just simply been a couple of ill-timed "knocks".

Or put another way, there'd have been concerns about Rico's fragility before last season... It can be worth hanging on for the season where it all comes together :)

As well as.
He played CN's role when he replaced him in the 5-nil vs Sheff Wed.
But he isn't a holding midfielder. Obviously he can play across the midfield three but he isn't a like for like with CN.

Yes, he covers a lot of ground and yes, can be effective in both boxes. But, he's not a natural defensive midfielder.

And anyway, to play him in the CN role would, IMO, neuter his more creative and attacking potential. He's mostly appeared in cameos for us but countless times I've seen that trademark skill of drawing an opponent in and turning them, leaving them for dead in one swift movement. Couple of assists already this season too. To me, you want him further up the pitch than CN typically operates.

Having seen only minimal minutes, he looks like Dasilva’s rotation to me.

Like the cut of your Jib sir.
We're lucky to have so many gifted MF players at our disposal.
Would like to see SB, CN, JD + one in a 4-4-2 to see how we go.
Multi-faceted and super-flexible.

exactly... looks like an attacking midfielder capable of getting past players and picking out passes. Does not look to me like a DM by any stretch... Looks to me like he'd be challenging for one of the no.8 slots with DaSilva, Jensen, Marcondes and Zamburek.. If we can get another DM in as cover for CN then we've got very good options in midfield..

guessing so, or we're planning on starting him on Sunday? Marcondes has played a few games on the trot so is prob due a rest. Alternatively he's getting some match fitness with the B team at Bromley on Sat along with Zamburek..

Yes a pity he wasn't around tonight, hopefully not another setback... Let's hope he's properly up and running when we come back from the international break...

no rush, were fine as we are. If this rumoured DM joins then we’ll be well covered. Best he gets whatever it is sorted or if it’s just fitness gets a few games with the B team.

Maybe, still a pity though, as it seemed he was getting somewhere. Hopefully just a minor setback...

😰

If we can get this guy 'up and running' and totally match fit we have a great talent on our hands.

My nature is glass half empty. I worry!

Would be good to get some info on his injury? Would have thought he'd have been involved in the B team game today if he was anywhere near fit..

Fully agree......

The club keep their injury cards very close to their chest.

So disappointed for us fans and Shandon. We need to have alternatives to keep the midfielders focus on consistently performing

Anyone know what’s really happening with Baptiste? He can’t seem to make a match day squad but every time he has played he’s hardly let himself down. I think a player like him needs games and for me Jensen is making us a bit pedestrian. Would love to SB come into the side and get a run of games.

He seems to be injured again, struggled in the last game he played and hasn't been seen since, not even for B team. Hopefully he's on his way back as we need more options to rotate with so many games in the next 3 weeks. To be honest I haven't really seen enough from him yet, he's shown a few good touches but like Fosu appears to be becoming our saviour by not being in the team. He's only 22 and making a big step up so hope people don't build him up too much, he's still adapting, lots of promise though..

Everytime Ive seen him Im impressed, but seems to be injured all the time. I never understand how some players get injured all the time and people like Ollie seam to just carry on playing.

The medical team will get him right. Rico had a stop-start first few years before playing every game last season

Ollie had time out with a bad toe season before last. When he tried to come back too soon he was pretty ineffective for a couple of games.

He had a bad run of injuries at Oxford - three shoulder dislocations and an ACL - but had returned to play regularly in the first half of last season before his transfer. It's a worry that he has struggled since.

Didn't Rico have a recurring problem with that too? OK now though.

Rico had an operation to fix his shoulder shortly after joining and was out for most of the season. If I recall correctly the options were bite the bullet and have the op or carry on with a known weakness that would keep on recurring

Rico played more games last season than his total across five of the six previous seasons he’s been a pro. Most people looking at his record last summer would conclude that for some reason he was too fragile to be a regular player. Now, not so much. Some stay breakable, some just have bad luck and they recover from injury with the right treatment and are robust.

I really want to see what this guy brings. I have watched him play a couple of games and off the bench. He had some lovely touches, but also a few clangers which have cost us. I don't know what his role is or whether he covers all, but I haven't seen the future CN yet. Maybe JDS. Injuries have been a shame. Hope he gets the chance to stake a claim. Still young and plenty of developing to do.

I haven't seen anything that would suggest a holding player. I'd guess he's more a Dasilva interchange, maybe with Marcondes' central bustle and harrying, but only 9 minutes in the Championship this season is not a lot to go on!

Could he play as a Marcondes/Jensen interchange as well?

We've seen so little of him you could almost ask if he could stand in for Raya! Maybe Marcondes but I've not seen any of the vision or delivery that Jensen has.

Despite professing to contain "all the info ahead of the clash between Owls and Bees", it's funny how Bees' preview contains more detailed info about Sheff Wed's treatment table than it does ours!

"Christian Norgaard and Mads Roerslev are both out but Thomas Frank is hoping to have Ivan Toney and Emiliano Marcondes available despite the pair picking up knocks during Saturday's win over Coventry City. Shandon Baptiste is also nearing a return.

For The Owls, Dominic Iorfa (hamstring), Tom Lees (groin), and Liam Shaw (ankle) will all definitely miss out while Izzy Brown (dead leg) and Liam Palmer (back) have a chance of being involved tonight"
