I thought he was one of the only vague positives from last night. The ball sticks to him and he can move past players.
But he did that, what, twice all game? The rest of it he wandered around lost, barely got close to their players and gave zero support to Roerslev. Came out positive second half like the rest of the team and then disappeared again. I think he's got great potential but we can't carry players for 35 minutes a half..

Wonder whether we'd get more out of him coming off the bench later in the game?

We are seeing short spells in matches where he looks absolutely mustard and then long spells where he goes missing.

It is frustrating but he will probably only impose himself more on games the more he builds fitness, stamina, confidence and experience at this level. Would stick with him for now; JDS and Onyeka are not available so he’s our only real ball carrier.

The impression you get from Shandon is that he is undoubtedly Premier League quality on the ball, but whether due to lacking match fitness or maybe even mentality, he doesn't seem ready to play a more defining and aggressive defensive game when we are out of possession, which of course is a big aspect of our play during this first season at Prem level. He is one who will benefit us if we are able to improve and develop our ability to retain possession, back in the direction as to how we played in the Championship.

In the interim, for a minimum 6 or maximum 18 months, what we really need to add is a world class attacking midfielder, who offers premium quality from dead ball situations, has clever feet to help us keep the ball better in tight spaces, threads passes into the front two and brings an additional goal threat.

But where the hell do you find one of those.......

Have you not seen how we looked more opened in the last two games when we have subbed him, I understand then we are chasing the game, nevertheless we look terrible each time. It is a substitution I can't get my head around.
I must've missed his defensive work before he was subbed... or perhaps it was the 8 minutes after he went off and we went a sort of 4-3-3 before Mbeumo got subbed.

Totally agree. The substitutions for Southampton and Liverpool, were baffling on so many counts

Baptiste is hardly a defensive powerhouse so can't see how him going off makes us more open. It was a time when we had nothing to lose going for it a little bit so the sub made sense to me, even if it didn't work this time and Wissa doesn't seem fully up to speed.

Shandon has a velcro touch but he is slow and needs to play with his head up and get involved more.

Really! Did or did you not see the last 2 games? Not only we looked more open we conceded goals in both games after Baptiste was subbed off. Not saying Baptists is a defensive powerhouse like you suggested, that is not his main duties we have CN and JV for that, but we definitely look open and weaker when he comes off. Now you could put this down to coincidence or something else that's up to you.

Am I the only one who thinks we can't get the ball to our forwards, especially Toney, so why are we putting on another forward player replacing Baptists, we also can't get the ball too. Wissa has replaced Baptists in the last 2 games and with no fault of Wissa, he has looked terrible due to him not getting the ball, running around like a headless chicken and not being in the game. Can someone please explain to this nuckle head, I just can't see the point.

I think we were more open because we were taking more risks generally rather than because Baptiste specifically went off. It is a longstanding strategy of ours to be more open and attacking once we go behind. Obviously that makes you more likely to concede again but in theory will get you more points in the long run. I agree about getting the ball to the forwards, but that is a bigger problem and I'm not sure what the solution is as I didn't think we are great at that with or without Baptiste.

A fantastic addition to the squad. Right now we need a more experienced player to provide the creativity in Josh DS absence. He's real player, make no mistake about it.

I've long thought we've looked worse without Shandon. Think back to West Ham, we became awful for the rest of the game after his injury, and we then went on a 4 game losing run after that.

I'm guessing the plan was to go longer to Wissa and Toney yesterday once he went off. Bypass his position basically, although I could be wrong there!

He was our best midfielder at Southamton I was baffled when he was taken off first

The player ratings were lead by Vitaly and Jensen got a higher rating than Shandon... he did just rate higher than Nørgaard, though.

Better teams are keeping the ball and closing down when we have it, it is hard for good players when you have no support and no one to give it to.

It's pretty obvious, we were chasing the game so abandoned a midfielder to have more up front. Didn't work either time because even when we went long we weren't keeping the ball so it just ended up putting Norgaard and Janelt under even more pressure.

I think he needs a run of games, he's hardly played in 3/4 years. Maybe a candidate for loan to Championship? We'd need to bring a couple in in midfield though which clearly isn't happening..

shame great ability but seems to have the wrong mindset for how we want to play, had enough chances need to bring in a creative attacking midfielder to link midfield and attack.

There is no doubting his ability,I just doubt his consistency & physicality & the PL is not the place to risk finding out .

Just didn't look at the races today and looked to have no pace.
It’s not his fault, he was simply upset ! He’d been told that I‘d invested £12 in that nice new club shop in having his name and number put on the back of my shirt. He’s not happy about it ….

PS, it IS like a reverse TARDIS, far smaller on the inside than it looks from outside ! But it had a nice vibe about it, and quite busy. Happy buyers.

W12...too close to Loftus Road!
Not really one to watch player interviews but I watched his 'My Journey' last week. Came across really well.

From being released for being 'too small' to his injuries before and with us it made me think the journey he's gone on is similar to the club as a whole...knockdowns, setbacks and the hard work paying off.

Been a mixed season for Shandon so far. Recovered from a big long term injury, made his PL debut, and Frank has trusted him as a starters times. Nice goal at Elland Road too.

But now he has Norgaard, Janelt, Eriksen as starters ahead of him, with Dasilva, Jensen, Onyeka and arguably Ghoddos ahead of him on the bench too.

How much will we see of him before the season’s end, and what are his prospects for game time here next season?

Talented player derailed by injury. A full pre season and I think we will see the player.

He's seemingly made of China so he'll never get a consistent first team starting place. There's a player there though.

Very hard to make an impression without a consistent run of games. Seeing as there are at least 4 players ahead in his position, it’s gonna be very hard to wrestle his way back in, despite some positive performances.

If CE does stay, which I desperately hope he does, it will have a big knock on affect as players will have to accept limited game time.

He is a good player, especially if he can steer clear of injuries. It actually shows how much stronger that we have become especially with CE in the ranks. 6 to 12 months ago probably a starter when fit, but the bar is going up all the time. With a fully fit squad will now only be on the bench imo, but I think he has more to offer with a full pre season as mentioned above.

I thought his best game was at Westham until he got injured that day.

More than happy for him to come on as a sub. Strong addition when fit

Changed the game when he came on. Earned a start over Janelt imo, only question is does JDS come straight back in instead. Eriksen obviously replaces Jensen.

Must be in contention for a start after that performance, but I suspect JDS will be preferred, which I would also understand. In winnable matches we shouldn’t be starting Norgaard and Janelt together — I’ve never felt they really complement each other.
I’m a huge Shandon fan, in fact I have his name and number on the back of my shirt. But I thought Leicester had done their homework on him today, and robbed him at least a couple of times as he tried to shimmie past them.

100% agree. Feel a bit for VJ because he’s a great player with tons of potential, but defensively he isn’t on the same level as CN ( who is) and attacking he isn’t as effective as the other options we have. Maybe a few games on bench is in order

No chance IMO, with Eriksen and Dasilva available.

I discovered this weekend I am related to Shandon.
Took me 45 minutes to work out the relation but basically I think he's the uncle of a 2nd cousin once or twice removed or something.

Amazing news 🙌

Get this guy back in the team now !
