so what happens when pratley's fit?

i think jay tabb has been outstanding in the centre in the last two games so what do we do when pratley comes back from injury?
could pratley and tabb play in the middle together? or should pratley play on the right or left?
all i know is tabb should stay where he is.
a nice problem for ma to have i suppose.

I'm pretty sure MA will go back to Pratley and Newman in the middle and push Tabby back out wide. I'm not a fan of Newman at the moment but right or wrong, Martin likes to play 1 attacking midfielder and 1 defensive midfielder together - Tabby and Pratley might leave us a bit light defensively, though going forward we would be sh*t hot...

This is a no brainer. It must be Tabb and Pratley.

Although both are more attack minded, I'm sure they could develop as a pairing where one holds whilst the other is attacking.

As well as ability, youth and pace they also play a 90 minute game without having unnecessary arguments with their team mates or the opposition.

I would like to see Terry Hurlock and Tabb given a go in centre midfield.

Tabb has been class these past two games but i feel we are not strong enough on the left not to play him there. Gayle is too old to play there regularly and Tillen looks a far better left back. Newman has his critics but i think we need his experience and know-how at the moment, Pratley is a great player and will get more goal than Tabb from centre mid.

Expand on what? There's no E in Rankin's surname and I heard a rumour that Pratley will be fit to play against Walsall. Nothing more to say than that.

I'd really like to see Pratley and Tabb play together in the centre - I think between them they'd have the discipline to go forward/protect the defense, and we'd be a lot more positive.

Like everyone else though, I don't think it'll happen. One thing I do know is though - the more minutes Eddie H spends on the pitch this season the lower our league position will be.

While I think Tabb's been great the last two home games, in both matches there's been more room in midfield than usual, and he's benefited from that. So I find it hard to judge whether central is perfect for him or not.

Think we are being a bit harsh on Newman and Brooker. Brooker was playing in the Premiership a few years ago and is always available to get the ball, his passing is underated by many of us and just because he doesnt go crashing into people and fouling them we all slate him???

Newman has done alright for us and this Newman bahing is a bit of a kneejerk reaction to the weekend. You couldnt play Tabb and Pratley in the middle as they dont have the experience to sit and hold, both of their first thoughts is always to go forward, Newman is a calming influence on the team when on the ball and is 1000 times better than talbot!!!!!

Yes but he obviously had shown that he had some sort of quality about him in the lower leagues to get into a premiership squad. Has also been promoted out of this league before so he knows what it takes. While he is by no means our main man (yet) he is a great person to have as a squad player. i just feel he does a lot of good stuff that goes un-noticed but when he loses a tackle he is berated for the next 5 mins.

When Pratley's fit, Hutch will be a thing of the past and that can only be good for our prospects for this season..

Tabby's been superb in centre mid and shown what a difference it makes having someone who's comfortable in posession, would be nice to keep him there but Newman and Pratley are first choice, so unless MA goes for a 4-3-3 system or somesuch then he'll go back out wide..

I don't think it will happen but...
I'd quite like to see Pratley wide right. I think one of our problems recently has been that Kev has been increasingly exposed because whoever has been infront of him - (Brooker or Tabb generally) has drifted inside or has been caught upfield. I think Pratley has the pace, "engine", and discipline to be really useful there, allowing Tabb to continue in the middle.

Having said that - I think Rankin has been excellent there in the last two games, with his pace going forward and (perhaps surprisingly?) his willingness tracking back he's given us a better balance.
