Haven't read through but I think the general consensus is that it was the worst 95 minutes so far in the PL. We couldn't deal with Soton's high press and the defending just fell apart, continually gifting the ball straight back. None of the players come out with any credit and it says something when Jensen comes on and actually presses their players in possession and plays the ball forward – quite a novelty given what went on beforehand.
Their early goal was a simple header, all too easy, and it set the tone, while out first (only?) attack with a decent cross tapped in by Janelt, who otherwise seemed a bit out of sorts. Their second was a case study of how not to defend – a ball is cleared from out penalty area; two players go out to the receiving player but neither closes when one should go tight and the other cover, so their player says 'thank you' and takes a shot that hits the post, then the 'keeper for an OG. The second half, we conspired to gift them two goals as they sat deeper and waited for our mistakes – which came aplenty.
There were players who had an off-day; players who just made a lot of errors (I think allowing Jansson to move on at the end of the season must be in plan); players who forgot the basics and, Canós, who is just not got the mind-set to be a defender... not his fault but he's being asked to do something he's not wired to do.
We can't be as bad as this again but it's clear fresh energy is needed, both from returning players and new recruits.
