Won't happen if you read anything Frank has said ever this season he'll stick with a back 5. But would move to a 3-4-3. And Goode at right back?!? Next joke?
Whoops, you’re right big mixup there from me you’re right, out with Goode into a 343 and Jensen in the middle

Well done to the travelling fans, you made almost all the noise from start to finish. No disaster this result, we are always gonna lose one or two games. Just like Toppingham, Scouce and all the other dinosaurs! Onwards and upwards! Leeds next, looking forward to a good result for the Bees.

Lots of posters out of the woodwork for this one !!!

perspective needed. We have a good first team but have nowhere near the depth of squad of most teams in the division, including Spurs! We are therefore effected more when our first choice players are missing.

We played Sunday and although Spurs travelled to Burnley they didn’t play so had a far longer recovery time than we did. I have no doubt Thomas would love to play fast attacking football but quite frankly, unless everyone is fit, we just can’t do it.

We are putting out a team that is physically tired after Sunday and no doubt are also mentally tired plus I reckon some of them are “ walking wounded” ( Ivan, Sergi, Rico and Christian)

I am astounded by some of the negativity on here, I think for most of us this season was seen as a battle for survival, currently we are sitting mid table with the big names like Leeds, Everton and Newcastle below us. Have no desire to swap places!!!!

players are returning to fitness giving Thomas more options. A defeat is disappointing and yes we were looking jaded however hopefully they can recover before travelling to Leeds where we are perfectly capable of getting a result

A tough game against a Conte side.. sadly we were too cautious in the first half and got done by a quick Spurs counter.. definite improvement in 2nd half but sadly too late. Goode, Fernandez , Norgaard all had good games.. Sadly FTT and Bryan had a stinker.. I can see TF making 2/3 changes to keep the team fresh..

the belief has gone

let's hope we can muddle through to January and the possibility of reinforcements
Perhaps Thomas can get you in the dressing room on Sunday.
Just how do you think we’re going to reinforce in January ?
Do you think our likely budget of £10-£15m per player is going to be a significant upgrade on what we have or what we have coming back from injury ?

The BBC described it as a Limp Display by Brentford. Just about sums it up.
Whether it was Limp or not, it was Insipid. The passing was lethargic most of the time, everything was too pondersome. Too many hospital passes from a player not under pressure to a player who was closely marked. Complete change when Shandon came on and for a very short while there was quick ball. Far too many balls were under hit, as if the grass was sticky (maybe not watered?).

Why when the defence get the ball do they not progress with it? Ethan used to do this but seems to have stopped. Bring back Henrik and Kris who knew/know how to advance and carry the ball into space. Also there were barely any long diagonal balls until the final 10 minutes.

The difference between now and the start of the season is that the team is not playing with momentum. So we are not putting the opposition on the back foot.

Our first game away against one of the top 6 sides and this is the reaction. I always hoped we'd be a bit more measured and circumspect, clearly a false hope
Er, West Ham? Or do you mean the old "big" 6?

Didn't think we'd get much from the game but thought we'd at least give it a go. First half was a waste of time all round really, when we started to play late on we caused them a few issues. That's my major disappointment. Currently we feel overly reliant on the long throw...

It’s funny, 13 games it has taken for the usual sad faces to appear on the match day thread to call us out as being fodder or no good,

They must have been abroad tha last 2 months
Can’t be bothered to dredge up old posts but I think there’s likely to be a big overlap between those saying we’re rubbish relegation fodder now and ones calling for Frank’s head saying he’d taken us as far as he could after we lost 3 in a row last season. Not sure why people insist on moaning harder during our best two seasons in living memory than they did when we truly were gash not much more than 10 or so years ago.

The bedwetters on here actually tend to be the ones who want to scream about ‘huge difference in budget’ and ‘remember where we came from’… you realise the team can lack energy and fans can point it out without thinking we are doomed and should be battering Tottenham… It comes from having belief in your team and what we’ve seen so far in the prem and for the last few years. It’s a positive on our teams ability that we think they have more about them and shouldn’t just bend over for the big six because they are the big six.

I don’t know how some posters make it through the day. The negativity is embarrassing.

We’ve already surpassed all marks that would make us the worst PL team ever and we’re miles ahead of where the relegated teams were last season.

I’m taking my leave from this thread for now. But I’ll be back with some FACTS later.

Where is this happening ?
And, if so, why would it be the worst thing ?
Why would you give a sh*t ?
Firstly it’s people that I know. Secondly I give a sh*t because we have been poor for a few games. Thirdly being sad and upset by a defeat is not disloyal, not unreasonable and not over the top. It’s simply human and using the GPG to cathartically purge these feelings is a nutural thing to do. My posting history shows me as an optimistic fan but the current form depresses me. I know we have injuries, less money etc and this time10 years ago we were playing the 10th Willesden scouts in Ravenor Park but tonight I feel disappointed and disheartened and no amount of bigger picture , get a grip instructions and ‘you are over reacting’ criticism will alleviate these feelings. There, I feel a bit better already. See you in Leeds.

Disaster, losing 2-0 away to Spurs isn’t it?
It’s an unacceptable result for a massive established Premier League giant like us & heads must roll.

Overall thoughts:
1. Playing out from the back- tonight was a perfect example of how much we’re missing David and Kris, the only two players at the back who have the confidence and skill to do so
2. Defending- actually thought we defended quite well.
3. Midfield- strange one for me. At times, there are massive, massive gaps ( second goal for example). If Shandon can start, then hopefully that’ll mean both Vitaly and Chris can hold their positions rather than being dragged out.
4. ( lastly 😊). It’s not his fault, but the position Bryan is playing in is simply not working in mum opinion( ended up at RWB by the end). Leaving me, and by the looks of him, incredibly frustrated. Lots of people saying 3-4-3. I’d love to at least see it . Although I love TF, we all know he can be quite stubborn with changing his system ( at least he’s got one of course). Wissa has to start, doesn’t mean Bryan shouldn’t, but Wissa has to.

They weren't that good, some flashes of quality, and we spurned our little opportunities to flash our quality. But can't expect much from Spurs away.

I'd move Norgaard back to sweeper - fair play to Charlie for the last couple of games, but without Ajer, we need someone to bring the ball out from defence (which is why CN moved back there last year in the first place, i believe?)

Pity to lose him in the centre but more viable now that Janelt and Baptiste are back - we have four other decent centre mids (VJ, SB, FTT, and Jensen apparently) who can cover CN's move until Ajer gets back.

Worth a go i reckon. Call me, Thomas - I've got loads of other mad ideas........

Was absolutely convinced at 1-0 Brentford were going to equalise. Our second goal effectively put the game to bed.
You were a bit cautious in the first half but pressed well in the second half and gave us quite a few problems.
Good fans, had a few better at ours this season but lots worse for sure. Did your team proud.
Good luck for the rest of the season. Look forward to visiting your place soon. Hope the sun doesn't get in my eyes ;-)

Fair points, but is it really ‘the worst thing’ ?
I know you’ve been a true Bee for a long long time and like us all you only want the best for the club and the fans.
So, I would urge you to not get too despondent when results and performances like tonight happen. We’d all hope for better but probably can’t truly expect better.
Won’t be at Leeds ( family event and have done it 3 times) but wish you and all Bees well.

Is there a way we can transfer, sell or substitute the negative posters on here, who never seem to write anything when we win or draw!!!

Just back. Better than Sunday, didn't really deserve anything but got better through the match. Great support. Good to see Fernandez improving (bar one punch), CN immense, a few others not quite on it. Pretty clear that teams are attacking the area just inside the RWB, and getting some results, so perhaps a change needed to address that.

But the next three matches are more important than this one, and 5 or 6 points from them will leave us in a good place.

A little bit meh tonight, maybe not helped (personally) by being in with the Spurs fans for this one. But never felt like we were in danger of scoring.

Worth remembering, though, this is our first game away to any of the Big 6. Maybe they're not currently in the actual top 6 but in terms of budget they are. Losing is expected, anything else is a bonus.

Hopefully we'll see a few tweaks to the starting XI on Sunday and we'll come out firing again!

.....on train back to East Surrey....WHL is certainly different than it was in 1986....light show outdoes BCS....like a f***in Coldplay concert....the game itself....well....not a lot to say really....how many shots did we have on goal....hmmmm....anyway....Leeds and Watford next....2,3,4 points from these games will keep us on track to enable us to visit the Spurs Spaceship again next season....keep the faith chaps.

Facts are when we concede first we don’t recover and we’re shipping early goals for fun. Doesn’t matter how much of a fluke it was, we’re still finding ways to let them in.

They were happy for us to pass sideways across the back 5. And we had no creativity or anything to hurt them further forward.

Disappointed considering they’re not a great side. Felt we were happy with a respectable loss.

4pts out of Leeds and Watford please.

I don’t see any reason to slag this team off. They are exhausted, the squad is thin and they ran their hearts out the first few games. December brings a brutal schedule and it won’t get any easier, but this is a good squad in need of support and some rest. They won’t get the latter but we can provide the former.

Being honest, didn’t expect to get much from tonight. Not at our best, but we improved after the substitutions.
Positives? - Charlie Goode, much maligned but put in a really good shift. Fernandez improves with every game.
Jensen looked confident and slick. Worked hard too.
Baptiste must start at Leeds and maybe Wissa too.

Awaiting train at Northumberland Rd. Earwigged some of their fans chatter.
They thought we were well organised and none of their party see us getting involved with relegation. Nice to hear.
Thought they were spot on tbf.
Well organised but need to be braver going forward.
Hearing that an experienced GK will be joining in Jan.

Quick word on the festively plump Moss - I am not sure if Charlie shat in his pre-match coffee or made a cruel jibe about his portly stature but I’ve never seen a ref over-analyse a player taking a throw like today. Best part was second half, when he made sure Goode didn’t steal not even a millimetre but then immediately let Harry Kane take a quick throw, with absolutely crap technique, five yards from where the ball went out without so much as a squeak…

Bingo. We went for it earlier than expected and got done by one of the divisions best counter attacking sides. No shame in that

Spurs had definitely worked a way. Gave us plenty of ball but closed off any outlets. However if you took Son and Regulon out of their side tonight they were very average. We were never really in it, but I still felt that Sanchez would shin us a through ball as his first touch is horrendous
