Regardless of what it is called, the B's are still a development squad. I sort-of guess that, unlike the 23-24 players that form the base of a first team squad, B Team recruitment is also about opportunity – that is the opportunity to sign a player that we believe has real potential regardless of the number of players already in that role. Young players quite often have not settled to a future senior position and they'll be much easier to keep happy with our regime for them. Similarly, if we see gaps in the squad, we can loan someone from FCM.
I don't see much benefit to loaning a B Team player out, they won't get the coaching we want to allow transition to the first team. There'll always be specific cases who might benefit but I think mostly going out on loan is the first step to going out altogether.
