He was highly rated at Bristol Rovers and by Blackpool fans. Young, quick, good going forward. Can play centre-back if necessary. Used to have Josh DaSilva round his place for dinner regularly when he was at Arsenal. Sounds like a great back-up to Rico and with room to develop as Rico is unlikely to be with us for more than another season.

Would suggest Rico is off (if true) .
Last season showed us we need to rotate more, especially playing 3 at the back with the demands on the wing backs and midfield 2.. we need quality back up at LB and RB which we don’t have at the moment

Can’t believe we will pay up to £1m for a backup player unless we are planning for someone to leave in this transfer window or the next one.

£1M is low ball for us now. It's also long term planning for when Rico eventually moves on.

Depends on whether the DOF's consider him a good investment for the future .Even if he doesnt make the first team now they will fatten him up for Christmas

If someone posts on here today that Rico Henry is in talks with Manchester City, it'll be tweeted as a scoop by Alan Nixon tomorrow. How many times do people need to be told... give up on him, he's a fake!!

We won't pay close to a million for a guy like that with a year left on his contract unless a whole lot of add-ons are activated.

Can't help feel that Blackpool's new owners are looking at our spend in this window and putting a prohibitively high valuation on Bola, given he was released by AFC last summer and signed by them on a 1yr deal with the 1yr extension only activated in late May. £1m seems the totality of any deal (tops), not a starting point with add-ons thrown in.

Let's wait and see how this one plays out, not sure we can dismiss completely.

Happy to pay a decent fee for Bola. He’s young, will improve and he’s one for the future.

A friend of mine (Liverpool fan) sent this to me.

Apparently a Liverpool fan believes LFC youngster Curtis Jones should come to the Bees on loan.

Strange you mention Canos. He's at Brentford which is where I think Jones should go on loan. I've tried to suggest it to them as my mate is on the board. He's a really clever player with that rare ability to create space.

Not true, need better LB back up than Tom Field.
Banana is a better LB back up than Tom Field

Don't bother getting annoyed, I just happen to think he's dreadful. Just my own opinion.

He already has Malaga locked up in his attic, flattery won’t get you trussed up by him any quicker.

You would think that we'd like to get any incomings wrapped up by the end of this week with the season starting very soon. Looks like we're likely to up our offer for Bola, the question then is, who will we bring in up front and will we bring in another winger? I think we're well covered in midfield now (unless someone goes) especially with the likes of Oksanen and Zamburek looking good in pre-season so far. Could be an interesting week ahead....

I like Zamburek, he looks intelligent and creative on the ball. I'm glad we seem to have opted out of blocking his path with another overhyped English dribbly winger. Ideally I still think we need another right back and a striker, possibly two if Maupay goes. If we are going for it this year then maybe a loan or two of the right quality might not be such a bad idea.

Not much value in a loan. If he's any good with us as with Canos it'll whack up his transfer fee. If he's not, we've wasted money which could have gone on a couple of B team players or even a bargain first teamer. It is 2 1/2 years since we loaned in any first team players. Since then only players from FCM and Charlie Oliver (who?) from Man City, all for the B team.

Regardless of who comes in, we definitely need to shed a few bodies as well. I just totted up how many professionals we've got... incredibly, I make it 51.

Really ? Would have guessed maybe high 30’s with all B team squad. I’m sure DOF’s know what they’re doing but sounds excessive.

There are 24 first team including arguably 4 who aren't really in contention, 3 keepers and one long term injury. It actually looks light (although we will add B teamers I'm sure).

If you consider that our B team is across 3 age groups where a lot of clubs have a squad for each, this isn't actually so many either

Yes, but for the majority of clubs, their numbers include trainees.

So how many of these have we bought in the last 5 years?

Yes, we don't have scholars now so anyone we sign now will be a professional. We seem to be a little heavy on B Team players but they won't be on big wages, I suspect Pontus earns more than them combined.

I would expect a few to be going out on loan soon too.

Regardless of what it is called, the B's are still a development squad. I sort-of guess that, unlike the 23-24 players that form the base of a first team squad, B Team recruitment is also about opportunity – that is the opportunity to sign a player that we believe has real potential regardless of the number of players already in that role. Young players quite often have not settled to a future senior position and they'll be much easier to keep happy with our regime for them. Similarly, if we see gaps in the squad, we can loan someone from FCM.

I don't see much benefit to loaning a B Team player out, they won't get the coaching we want to allow transition to the first team. There'll always be specific cases who might benefit but I think mostly going out on loan is the first step to going out altogether.

Yes, same with the First Team squad. Vast majority have been just to get them away from the BFC training ground.

Tend to agree in most cases, especially now as we have a really good and varied games programme with the B team.

But never worth ruling out, especially with Goalkeepers who come under a very different type of pressure at senior level.

So I imagine we’re looking at a few moving on be it permanently or loans

Balcombe looks to be in no mans land at the mo, neither in B or 1st team. loan

Daniels: gunnarsson appears to be ahead of him in pecking order now. Transfer (this might affect balcombe’s position)

Field. Hasn’t impressed pre-season, Bola coming in? Loan/transfer

Cole : on trial with cheltenham. Loan/transfer

Archibald: disappeared. Someone on twitter said he was on trial at Stevenage though? Transfer.

Clarke; is ok but pre-season has highlighted he still hasn’t addressed his decision making etc. Loan/transfer

Shaibu. Appeared to have been given a chance pre-season but hasn’t impressed. Transfer

I'd add Ogbene to that list.

Also, I wonder what's happened to the B team left back signed back in May... Tsaroulla?

Oh yes, he’s been linked with a loan to Rotherham I think?

I think Tsaroulla is one of what appears to be quite a few injured B teamers!

Noble rumsay, Zambian striker on trial with us at the moment according to this

Never heard of him? Any ideas? Would appear to be first team rather than B..
He seems to be with Tipton Town and has had a trial at Wolves. I'm not sure we should be thinking he's a Maupay replacement.
