Past his best? He is 28 just won the golden boot in the premier league and also had the most assists all whilst playing for Tottenham! If i where pep I know who I would sign
I think Kane is at his best, he's about to cross over to the decline side of the graph in the next season or 2. How quick he slides will be down to how bad his ankles are (IMHO).

100m for a couple of seasons plus HUGE wages seems a little short sighted to me. They'd be better off buying Ollie for the same money and less wages, he could do some serious damage in a Citeh team.

It's all a bit Galacticos.

It’s all about opinions, but at 28 moving to city where he wouldn’t have to play every minute of every game he could be a world class striker for another 3-4 years. In that time if city dominate the premier and mange to win a champions league Kane with he’s goals could take city to a whole new level. As for Watkins good player but not particularly clinical in front of goal apart from both being strikers I wouldn’t compare him to Harry Kane.

I think people get a little bit rose tinted when they compare Ollie to Harry Kane. Kane is probably only second to Lewandowski as a proper number 9 in the world IMO.

Jack Grealish for £100m is just mad. He isn’t worth anywhere near that. He’s a decent player - but no where near as good as Bernardo Silva IMO id even say Foden may be better than him. He’s a flat track bully. Doesn’t really turn up against the big teams. But should do alright when starting games at home to us and Norwich

See for me Kane is past his best already. Why city didn't go in for Watkins and Pep work with him to get his full potential is beyond me. If they pay 100+ plus got Kane Spurs have done well.

Greasy record but just like Rooney with age is dropping deeper and deeper and losing pace and movement. He is slowly becoming a false 9.

Golden Boot 5 of last 6 seasons,

Don’t judge him on the euro’s when Gareth’s tactics can make any forward look like a donkey.

Yep - agree with that - Ollie & Kane are totally different types of forward.

Also agree with your comments about Grealish, but I suppose that's the market value if Man C are prepared to pay it. Got annoyed with the BBC TV news 'reporter' last night, swept away with the usual sensationalism & hype. Talked about Grealish being one of England's 'stand out' players of the Euros (he wasn't, he barely started any games, was subbed as a sub in another and set up one goal iirc) and how he'd been Villa's 'go to' player for the last couple of years (nearer 4 at least - they did well to hold on to him in the Championship). But then again, we all know football only exists in the PL!

I feel like JG is very much an "on it" player - when he is, he's a world beater, when he isn't, well he isn't.

In all but last season he often carried Villa. He’s admitted it often wasn’t enough against the top teams. Being at a top team he will have 10 top players around him and opponents won’t just be able to target taking him out. I suspect he will now be far from the most fouled player in the PL as he was at Villa. So he has the opportunity to carry on being a flat track bully at a much higher level where most games will be on a flat track.

Literally no point banging on about whether he was worth it or not.
Villa had a 100m release clause that they hoped wouldn't be met.

Or they rather cleverly thought it would and this would give them the chance to spend big to build a team that wasn’t reliant on a single player.

Last time Grealish played for Villa against us he neither scored nor assisted. And that was at home against a Bees line up starring in defensive midfield the power duo of McLeod and McEachran. Or did I mean powderpuff duo?

Any Brentford fan out there who is deluded or moaning for us to sign X why and Z only have to compare our transfer buisness to Watford and Norwich. Light years ahead, not just them but many others in the PL.

Not saying many on here are but I hate seeing comments like "why haven't we signed a right back yet"

Watford agree. Think Nowrich have recruited smartly though and within their means like us so credit to them.

Lost one of there best players and quite possibly lose Cantwell... If we lost MB and Ivan I think we would all say it wasn't a good window. I fully agree though it's good to see a club operate in its model. And I fully respect Norwich for that, stabilised club after some mismanagement.

I'd be delighted if we get relegated this season ( not really but you know what I mean), keep the best of the squad then lose them after they help us win promotion again. Norwich have done brilliantly there.

Even better to neither get relegated nor lose your best players! Would you rather be Norwich who kept Buendia just long enough to get back up or Villa who kept Grealish long enough to establish in the PL, improve the next season and then sell to improve the team overall and be looking at the top end rather than another relegation battle? We’re a smaller club than Norwich but I suspect we’re thinking more like Villa here. And I think we’d have the confidence in the overall squad and strategy to take the big money for Toney if we went down. Our next Championship striker would then stay with us as we went back up rather than us starting another PL campaign with a weaker squad than took us up.

Typical Newcastle signing... probably completely out performed his usual self with 8 goals in 8 games last season and signed on a mega deal on the back of it...will resort to type next season!

I saw it was £20m plus add ons. The sell on from Armstrong pretty much makes the net spend on buying Willock the £10m total summer budget they were talking about when being outbid by us for Ajer.

Whether £15m or £20m, considering the number of goals he got in a bang average team, that is quite a low price, when you consider I doubt we'd have taken less than £30m for IT, had we not gone up. Far worse players have gone for much more money - good deal for Soton.

... and in any case, providing FFP allows them to spend it, money is no object to City in their pursuit of all four major trophies every season.

One other point which seems to be overlooked: Pep doesn't just buy success, he also improves players eg Sterling or Mahrez. If Grealish was able to get away with coasting, even show-boating, in certain Villa games, he'll need to shape up for every minute of every game he plays in a City shirt - or he'll be shipped out again, pronto.

Amusingly Newcastle seem to be miles out on personal terms for Willock.

This seems crazy, like, he'll never be Drogba. The £70m disparity between what they sold him for and what they've bought him back for alone is insane!

Crackers.
Would you buy a house you sold a few years ago for 4 x the price?
Not many would.
Forget the money, it's the principle and whole idea of it.

Ps is Lukaku world class? Not imho.
They'll sell Abraham for £30m odd I'm sure. Don't especially rate him either but Lukaku is not three times the player (and he's older)

Lukaku, by all accounts, has significantly improved from the player he was a few years ago. Good signing in my book. Will be top scorer in the PL.

Lukaku is what Chelsea were missing in the last couple of seasons. He’s playing exceptionally well now and will make them real contenders.

Tbf I think Ronaldo will be earning something stupid like £500k per week.
