Seems as if we tracked his progress at Oxford after he left Charlton and liked what we saw. Strange that Charlton let him go. He would have been an asset to them

Strange one on first look. His career has seemed on a lower league trajectory until now. Seems we have seen something in him that others haven't or haven't seen so strongly

Are we right to think that he’ll be in the squad for tomorrow? Club showing pictures of him training this morning

Oxford site says both ex players are going to watch them play at Blackpool , which sounds strange

PJ watched Leeds at the Gooners, Maupay was at GP last week.

Maybe paperwork wasn't lodged before deadline time

I believe Charlton did offer him a contract and for whatever reason Fosu refused it and signed for Oxford.

Just had a note from a family Charlton fan who says they have a sell on with Oxford fo Fosu-Henry, not say how much though

Doesn't really matter it's Oxford's money, not ours.

We buy players not so much on what they have done in the past, but their potential for the future. We obviously see areas that we can develop that will make him a better player, that's what we do and have proved to be very successful at it.

Sounds a someone who we have acquired to offer a game-changing alternative from the bench

my mate is a Reading season ticket holder .He said Stam didnt rate him and got rid .On his day he can tear defences a new arsehole ( my mate, not Fosu ) .Inconsistent though I guess ,I doubt if he'll feature for a while in our first team squad

I think inconsistency is a trait of most wingers. We've seen Canos, Jota, Flo Jo and dare I say it Benrahma all go missing at times.

If Stam didn’t rate him he’s probably a worldbeater...

That what I said to him and with a low release clause there won’t be much cash going Charltons way
Really, I thought he was out of contract at Charlton? Might be wrong.

EDIT: I was wrong, he went for a fee.

Why would your mate feature in our first team squad? Is he any good?

He was out of contract. As he was at the time under the age of 24 I assume that Charlton were entitled to compensation. If that assumption is correct then I speculate that it may have been taken in the form of a sell on?

George Elek saying on the NotTheTop20 podcast that he was puzzled about Brentford buying Fosu as he think he has peaked and wouldn't get in the Bees side. Elek is a big fan of Baptiste, though.

Maybe a relatively low cost risk and the DoFs identified that we need cover in the wide areas as well as someone who can add energy, directness and something different from the bench (As Sergi would if fit)

Early cover for one or two leaving in the summer? Maybe he’s just Baptiste’s minder/bestie?

For the money we paid I don't see Fosu as a risk. He s project and could well prove to be a bargain signing. If not I a sure we can find a ready buyer in a year or so.

Look at it this way, we've bought a player for less than some player's loan fees, and probably on lower wages than such a player as well. He has a decent record and at the very least can perform Sergi's role for the rest of the season and run at players in the last twenty minutes and provide back up. And unlike a loan player if he doesn't do the business we can sell him and get some money back. Who knows maybe he'll become a star playing in our system?

This feels like a ridiculous thing to say given he only had a few seconds and touched the ball once but I just felt there was something about him that suggested he could be a real asset for the rest of the season.

I guess I just liked the positions he took up straight away and he looked confident.

Obviously has jumped ahead of Valencia...

I agree. It is a ridiculous thing to say based on a few minutes cameo.
