I don’t think anyone’s ‘undermining’ him? Most agree he’s a decent squad player but we’ve stepped up a level this year. Would you start him on Saturday against liverpool?
Let’s put it this way I wouldn’t have any problems if he did start against Liverpool

You tell me who would you drop fgrom the starting XI against Wolves for him? I cannot see who in his positions he would replace. Thomas has inferred there is only going to be 1 change and really thats likely Onyeka or Jensen for Baptiste

Maghoma on the bench over him pretty much confirms he won’t play for us again apart from maybe in the Carabao Cup.

Maybe Fosu isn’t fit, he wasn’t on the bench for Ghana’s 2 games v Zimbabwe

Didn't make the final cut.

It’s a shame how things are going to end for him at Brentford, he has done better than I think many expected. I personally like him as a player and think he could do a job coming off the bench but I also trust that the club have their reasons for their decision not involve Tariq. I suspect it goes deeper than just being football related..

With injuries and suspensions likelihood is he will be needed, at least off bench, before January transfer window arrives and Josh da Silva fit to return

It won’t happen, he would have been on the bench yesterday if that was the case

Feel I want to hold out hope for Fosu - displayed great spirit last year and IMO is a better player than many think. Thinking about the line up against Stoke - imagine he'll play - skin a few championship players...lay on a few balls for Forss to stick away - maybe we'll welcome him back...

I think he needs “snookers” to play in the PL now- injury to Sergi and/or Henry plus to the alternative who’d play in the different formation we’d go to in that event. He’s clearly not seen as a sub for either of them or for Wissa or ahead of Ghoddos/Jensen. A good cup appearance keeps hope and the chance of a good Championship loan in January but I think he’s not rated as being part of a PL future.

The run of games we have in December, twice a week for 4 weeks, will stretch our squad - with or without injuries. Reckon Tariqe will see game time in December, even if it’s only off the bench.

Maghoma’s a holding midfielder, Stevens a RB/defensive midfielder and Roerslev a RB/RWB.

Stevens joins Maghoma ahead of Fosu in the pecking order. Utterly baffling especially when we already have Roerslev on the bench, and Fosu did a great job at LWB in the cup.
Hallo, the #FreeFosu boys are back in town … how long before Thomas Frank will be described as “stubborn” for not selecting Fosu?

I can’t believe we’re trusting the judgment of TF and the coaching team over the experts on the GPG. Shocking.

All I’m saying is that bench attacking wise is extremely weak. Maghoma and Stevens will never be trusted to come on in a Premier League game, we might as well have 7 subs instead of 9. I just don’t see why we wouldn’t have Fosu there, at least until Janelt and Wissa are back.

From the outside it looks strange but clearly he is not seen as a central to our plans going forward.
.............if he doesn't play at Stoke and isn't injured then something is amiss................

I didn’t think Bidstrup would be trusted to come on in the premier league either. Until he did.

I can guarantee you TF would have no qualms bringing Stevens on in the PL if he had to. Would be surprised if he brought on Maghoma though. Trouble with Fosu is where would you play him? Unless we go 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 then there's not really a slot for him. Surprised he's not on the bench though at the moment, or Valencia. Don't see the point in giving them first team squad numbers if we're never going to use them. You have to imagine that they've done (or not done) something that's upset the management, or they're just not showing it in training at the moment..

He played LWB in the cup for us, and has played right back many times before. Stevens replaced Thompson on the bench despite never starting a league game. There’s clearly something going on.

And I think he and Valencia only have squad numbers because they and the club couldn’t secure and agree loan moves for them. IIRC Tariqe was half way down the M4 to Swansea (which would have been a good move for him) before that got pulled and Valencia decided against Crewe (reasonably). Given those two potential destinations it is fairly clear playing for us in the PL is a rather remote possibility for either barring dire emergency when we have B team players we’d be looking to develop to that level this season and beyond.

January would be the last time we could sell Thompson (even for nowt but with a decent sell-on) so perhaps they think having Stevens on the bench is both good experience for Finn and also good risk management if we're going to look to move Dom in January.

I think he’s done well in every game I’ve seen him play. For that reason, I’m surprised he’s not featured recently. That’s just my opinion. However, I value TF’s experience and opinion on football matters more than my own and so if Tarique doesn’t currently measure up in TF’s eyes, that’s fine with me.

Surely the fact that we were willing to let him go on deadline day tells us that he’s not part of the plans. I don’t see why a couple of injuries to players who play in different positions to TF will change that.

But he played for the first 70 minutes v Oldham, coming off when we lead 6-0 and that was only 3 weeks after deadline day

And let’s be honest he fell behind Marcondes in the pecking order for the crunch games at the back end of last season. We let Marcondes go and we’ll let Fosu go. He made up the numbers in pre season but that’s about it barring another 4-5 injuries.

Hopefully we will see a reminder tomorrow of what a number of us feel Tariqe contributes. Assertive on the ball, better at shielding the ball (than some), and highly intelligent crossing of the ball (that Ivan at one point was hugely benefitting from). Also showed he could fulfill a defensive role when required by TF.

I’d love for him to have a performance that demanded consideration in the PL line up to take the spot Wissa would otherwise have and give him real competition to win back.

I think we’d all like a performance and a win. Not sure it will be enough to change minds that matter though.

Agree with all this. I think back to Preston away last season where Fosu played in an attacking midfield role. I know we are playing better quality teams now but without JDS and Baptiste we seem to be lacking a midfielder who’s strength is running with the ball.

Though it didn’t work so well against either Cardiff or Millwall.

Last season, Tariqe was in the matchday squad for every single game. Can't believe Thomas suddenly doesn't rate him. Something must have happened behind the scenes.

I doubt it's that "Thomas doesn't rate him. Something must have happened behind the scenes." but that he's slipped down the rankings for a matchday squad. This season, we've added Onyeka, Wissa, Ajer and Zanka, plus some younger players have moved up the list. When a few regular members are rested, like for a cup game, then he'll move back up.

Not really. Marcondes was too and was key to getting us over the line. There was no falling out with him, just the club sticking to its position that he wasn’t going to be a regular part of the future.

Tariqe has a huge opportunity now and I don’t think the club would exclude him if he was thought able to do a job unless he’s indicated he’s unwilling to do the job needed.

In a weird way, I kind of hope something has happened behind the scenes.

Otherwise, it makes me feel a bit sad that someone who seemed to be so important last year has now been totally frozen out - even if that makes sense from a cold footballing perspective.
