....................Fernandez...............................

Roerslev...Goode...Sorensen....Thompson

......Ghoddos....Baptiste....Bidstrup..........

........Forss......Dervisoglu.....Wissa............
I would go with this also. Maybe Zamburek gets in ahead of Baptiste if he is not ready tto start game, I get the argument about play 3 5 2 but this formation gives us a chance to play Wissa and Dervisoglu alongside Forss.

I'm unclear what the attitude of the top brass is when it comes to the cups.

1. As a fan, you'd think MB would like to win one

2. Seem to remember reading somewhere, poss on here, that he gave the managers the go-ahead to go for cups as long as it didn't affect promotion

Now that we're PL, does "affect relegation" equate to affect promotion?

3. My interpretation of the next stage of the Masterplan is to become a sustainable PL side, challenging for Europe, that people want to watch. This may or may not include a couple of relegations.

It "only" takes 6 games to win a Cup, which is, after all, a gateway to Europe, so shouldn't we go for it as part of this plan?

However, I expect Thomas to put out a team that he will say he thinks are good enough to win the tie. Which I hope will be a mixture of yesterday's first team and subs bench rather than the Kloppish version of putting out the B team.

We won’t be ‘putting out the B team’
Our first team squad is full of excellent players and some haven’t played yet
I’m looking forward to seeing how these players do 🐝🐝🐝

As I mentioned previously it would make sense to give the 9 subs from Saturday a start, a couple of starters on the bench with the rest made up of other 1st team squad members. I’m sure they’ll be some B team players involved but we’d be foolish to underestimate FGR who will be high on confidence and have nothing to lose. Would be very interesting to see how our B team squad would fare in League 2?

We won’t underestimate Forest Green. But we might put out a team we know will get a good game off them.

I am fine with this, a cup run is bottom of the list of priorities this season.

Remember when we underestimated Cambridge 2 years ago?
Personally I care little either way, however, if our Bench for last Saturday plus a couple of others cannot give a good account of themselves then we are in big trouble as most will get Premier League game time over the season . Many will get a sizeable number of games when injuries kick in, whatever all need competitive game time. The win is important only so much that it will give that team an opportunity of another game. If Peart-Harris, Zamburek, Adams, Haygarth, and Gilbert are the others so much the better.

Had this game been a few seasons back at GP I would have had no interest in attending. But with the new stadium, the opportunity to sample the hospitality and posh seats and hopefully see a decent competitive game really appeals. Certainly not expecting an easy game or win but I would hope the players we put out will be good enough to get a win. This will then give these players about opportunity to play and impress.

I fear this might come a bit early for Jensen and Baptiste but hope they're at least on the bench. Would imagine Bidstrup will start along with Ghoddos. Peart-Harris looked v good for the B team on Friday so wouldn't be averse to him getting some time. Clearly Wissa and Dervisoglu need to get some time as well as Forss which would indicate a 4-3-3 is best all round.

Agree. I think it will be something similar to this

Fernandez
Roerslev Sorenson Pinnock Stevens
Peart-Harris Bidstrup Ghoddos
Wissa Forss Dervigslu

I'd like to see Haygarth get some match time too, and it wouldn't be surprise me if Adams (who is playing well for B team and scoring goals), Young-Coombes and Hockunhull are on the bench

Baptiste and Fosu come in for Bidstrup and Halil/Forss if fit. Stevens and a few other B teamers off the bench.

Is it going to be broadcasted?
as @Leonardo said, unfortunately it looks unlikely - a bit ridiculous in this day and age, and a real pity cos I'm really looking forward to seeing how some fringe players get on. i've been trying to research it, looking at some of the most incomprehensible webpages the EFL is capable of (which is saying a lot). basically just looks like one game on Tuesday will be shown live, and the rest can't be because..................... unclear.

for the team, i wouldn't bother anyone who i expect to start on Saturday. as discussed, i'd probably prefer 3-5-2 but the personnel around probably lends itself better to the classic 4-3-3, which is hardly sacrilege... so...

Alvaro
Roerslev - Goode - MBS - Dom Thom or Stevens
Bidstrup - Ghoddos - Haygarth / MPH (assuming too early for Zamburek / Jensen / Baptiste, who could all be on the bench)
Dervisoglu - Forss - Wissa

that is a tasty team that should demolish those lower-league minnows...

Yea it's a real bummer that it isn't being shown. Mostly its very interesting to see the lower league teams play against the ones above them. It always makes for exciting matches because they want to prove they are good enough.

Would be good to see Pinnock start given his connection with FGR….. at least from the FGR perspective.

Forgot about this. What with us being a big club and all that. But it's not tonight is it? GPG says 3 hours 40 mins to kick off, but it's tomorrow isn't it?

We have a pretty big squad of players we want and need to challenge for first team starts and to be capable of being brought on as tactical rather than mere injury subs in PL games. Last season's Carabao run to the SF gave a lot of minutes to such players and helped us a lot to have the team that took us up. Whatever the actual line up I think our previous approach of taking the cups as a free hit to give run outs to the B Team is a thing of the past. TF very much used it as a set of important and competitive games even in a highly congested season. I'm sure he'll do the same again against FGR and be very disappointed with anything short of a win.

Given the break after next Saturday, I wonder if TH may be tempted to start with one or 2 “first 11” such as Norgaard and Mbeumo to try and ensure we get to the next round.

In the league. 5 in all competitions. Do not underestimate...they are on a mission after failing (narrowly) in the play offs last season.
Won’t they also have to manage their players. Especially if as you say they are on a mission for promotion. They will have a heavier schedule than we do. 🤔

Given the amount of running those two did on Saturday and have tired they both look I think it’s unlikely it would be them.

I wonder if FGR will put out a near first team as we would be a big scalp to have, surprised we are risking Pinnock although
I can see why, I hope EP doesn't get injured.

This is the line up we had v Wycombe if you want an idea of how seriously we took things in our best league season in 74 years.

I'd be very happy with this. I'd like to see Stevens I'm there so maybe if MPH not quite match fit in for him and see MPH second half. But overall happy with that. Strong side.

That was the week before the league season started, so it was essentially the final pre-season friendly and our selection was somewhat restricted by international call-ups.

Would of liked to see Jude Russell involved in this one or Nico Jones, with Pinnock being confirmed as captain, looks like it will be Mads and Goode with him at the back
