Can't see Norgaard starting yet. If he does it'll be more than likely to give Janelt a rest. Josh clearly needs a break so would bring in Jensen and Canos for him and Fosu

Raya, Dalsgaard, Reid, Pinnock, Sorenson, Janelt o, Jensen, Ghoddos, Mbeumo, Toney, Canos

Subs: Daniels, Roerslev, Norgaard, Bidstrup, Marcondes, Fosu, JDS, Forss, Zamburek.

Wouldn’t start Norgaard. He’s been out for too long and I don’t think Thomas would start him either. Think Rotherham is most likely

Tough call to make.

Raya (on a final warning I’d imagine)

Dalsgaard
Reid
Pinnock
Mads

Janelt
Jensen
Ghoddos

Bryan
Toney
Canos

Hard to call between Fosu/Bryan.

Ghoddos/Marcondes in for Dasilva if he is still unable to play to close to 100%.

wouldn’t risk JDS for this one. We need players at 100% sharpness and he’s nowhere near that at the mo. Is Norgaard? Also not at all convinced moving janelt to left back is a good plan..back four has looked solid last couple of games, no reason to shake that up for the sake of it with little training

I can’t see Janelt and Norgaard starting together .....yet and Janelt has been superb so I wouldn’t rest him until we’ve seen more of Christian.

Against the more physical sides that we seem to struggle against like Preston, Huddersfield, Cardiff and Blackburn I might be tempted to play them alongside each other

Janelt was apparently recruited as a No. 8 and has proven to be a very good replacement 6 for CN whilst he was injured. We won't know how good an 8 Janelt is until he plays there but I'd much rather see him retained in midfield than moved to a position that Sorensen, so far, has covered quite well. The team has adjusted to Rico's absence by pushing HD in to a more advanced position on the right, leaving Sorensen to focus on his main attribute, i.e. defending

I think Thomas referred to playing one or the other in his post match interview , not together

This but with Ghoddos instead of Dasilva who is clearly not fit

Didn't JDS play himself into the game yesterday? I would want to protect Norgaard though. Too many choices for me, all of a sudden.

I understand the need to rest/rotate players but don't think you can afford not to start your best players when they are as good as Janelt. Unless, he gets a knock I would try very hard to start him in all games between now and the end of the season. He seems a VERY fit lad and I don't think it would be a problem.

I don't really like the idea of him starting left back, unless there is a particular reason for this game. I also can't really see any reason not to start Christian - if he is ready to come back he might as well start again Norwich as against anyone else.

So, it is Wanderer Paul's selection for me

Why not keep it simple and start the same 11 that finished the game so strongly? This would give much needed rest and if needed we can bring them on at half time, fresher and hungry.

I see where you're going but for me Janelt as a no.8 is a bit of a 'bull in a china shop' option, he's all action get the foot in, smack the ball in from miles out etc etc. (that prob sounds a bit harsh but it's not meant like that!) Just feel that for Norwich we maybe need a bit more subtlety in that role? Both Jensen and Ghoddos are v comfortable on either foot, capable of making space for themselves and playing quick one twos. Janelt may well be able to do that too, but we've not really seen it from him so far and I'd suggest both Jensen and Ghoddos are probably better in that department. I think there are definitely games where Janelt in there would be a good option but not sure it's this one?

Yep, you could be right, but I definitely don't think it should always be either/or with Christian and Vitaly.

I expect the midfield three to be Jensen, Nails and Ghoddos (as they played in second half). I would also start Bryan after yesterday's display and give Fosu the shirt over Canos. Sergi won't like it but the concern is he would be too pumped and allow Norwich to break our momentum with cheap free kicks. I would offer him the chance to run at a tiring defence and show what he can do.

I think I agree. It’s so nice to have options again

Having only played a quarter of an hour or so I'm pretty sure Norgaard won't be match fit to start. Lots of options now in midfield. I'd go Janelt, Jensen, Da Silva and probably play Ghoddos as one of front three instead of Fosu. I'd expect to see Norgaard after an hour whether it's going well for us or not. For following game I'd like to see Janelt, Norgaard and Da Silva together.

I don’t think Ghoddos will play as one of front three against Norwich - but be part of midfield three with Jensen and Janelt - but with Marcondes and Norgaard back it does provide Thomas with option of playing Ghoddos wide left. Downside at present is with Rico out not sure Ghoddos right player to look to protect Mads on the left.

I imagine it to be:

Raya
Dalsgaard - Reid - Pinnock - Sørensen
Jensen - Janelt - Ghoddos
Mbeumo - Toney - Fosu

The alternative being Canós for Fosu... but I think we'll need Fosu's tracking back to counter Norwich's right side attack. There's a dependency on match fitness assessment for Nørgaard, to rotate with Janelt, and Marcondes, to rotate with Ghoddos. Looking at Norwich's recent formation and positions, it seems their weakness is behind the full backs (with their left back Sørensen!) as they like to bomb forward. Our side attackers have got to pin them back and be able to get in behind when the opportunity arises. I can see Jensen playing a key role and cross-field flyers from our Sørensen and Reid.

For some reason i worry about Ghoddos against what will be a very mobile Norwich midfield. He has brilliant moments but goes very quiet in games.

Would it be a benefit to get Marcondes in there who has in the past done a very good job of tracking and pressing opposition players.

Like several others I think our team will be:

Raya
Dalsgaard - Reid - Pinnock - MBS
Jensen - Janelt - Ghoddos
Mbeumo - Toney - Canos

The Mbeumo/Canos/Fosu debate is the tough one to call. Bryan did really well against Sheff W and had a good second half against Stoke and I think the numbers reflect he offers the most of the three. Canos is better starting and can be a liability once he gets tired or we are holding on. Also he tends to try too hard if brought on as a sub!! I imagine Fosu will replace him after 60-65 mins. Hard on him as he's done nothing wrong but on their day Bryan & Sergi are more talented, if less consistent.

Subs
Daniels, Roerslev, Norgaard, JDS, Forss, Fosu. Emiliano, Zamburek

But isn't great that we now have choices across the whole field (except at LB :()

I assume we are all of the belief , if we lose tonight, leaving us 10 points behind with 13 to play , its highly likely it is us Swansea and Watford fighting for second? Especially as Norwich's next SEVEN games are all against teams in the bottom half.

You’d have to feel a Norwich win would give them one of the top 2 spots coming May. If the team in 2nd can’t stop them, then what hope for the rest.

But see us winning the game 2-1. We’ll make sure it’s a nervy last 10mins which will seem like an hour watching on the tv.

Canos and Jensen will start. They were rested on Saturday for a reason. Don’t believe that CN will start, but he’ll come on to help us see the game out.

I think the answer is they'll both have a role to play - and Ghoddos likely to be the starter given Marcondes time out.

Would prefer the Swansea (a) 3 in midfield given the level of opposition, failing that the 3 who started in the p/o semi 2nd leg with VJ for CN.

(I haven't mentioned them by name for obvious reasons).

Ummm, so are our next seven games!

If we lose then, yes, its unlikely we will end up ahead of Norwich. But even if we do it's not all doom and gloom - we could win the other 12 matches and get 36 points.

Also playing against teams in the bottom half means very little, especially this season. Some teams consider it a free hit when playing against one of the top teams and with the pressure off play their best game of the season - Coventry being a recent and painful example! Even Wycombe gave us a scary 45 minutes and beat then Reading!

And lastly Norwich's last 5 games are anything but easy, even with 3 of them at home. All 5 teams (yes, even the RaRas) could be fighting for promotion so anything could happen.

First of all - who are we playing tonight?
Second - FFS, one game at a time. Let's just concentrate on Norwich on Wednesday evening and then about OUR remaining matches.

For me it's all about shutting down the service from Buendia, he is what makes Norwich tick, provides lots of crosses for Pukey to get onto.

If Rico was playing I wouldnt be so concerned, but MBS may need extra help. So in an ideal world I would play Janelt left mid to rattle into him with Norgs and Jensen alongside.

If CN isnt yet up to that, then Ghoddos is good at ratting, so him, Janelt and Jensen in mf.

Back 4 as is, Canos, Toney and Mbeumo up top.
And Raya in goal, obviously ....

If Nogaard is fit and there is opportunity to play Janelt at left back this is the game IMHO. Max Aarons their right wing back is very fast and composed on the ball. He may be a tad too fast for Mads.

Our left-side attacker has to do a lot of work to stop Aarons supporting Buendia, that's not Sergi's forté.

I would replace MBS with Fosu just for this game.
I feel teams are staring to target MBS at left back as its so predictable that he will get a pass and then turn back inside to pass back to Raya. Its an accident waiting to happen in my view.
