I suspect Harry won't be fit enough after coming off limping on Sat. Will UR stick with 4-4-1-1 (or whatever) or will he give Saido a game alongside CD and bring on Morrison after 60 minutes?

Won't be as easy playing on the counter attack at home so presuming all are fit I'd change to 4-4-2 and bring in Saido at the expense of either Logan or Thompson. Both have been exceptional of late but Oldham will be boring, defensive cloggers and do we need two right backs in the team at home? I'd say no, we need goals in the team.

I'd go:

Lee

Logan Osborne Dean Bidwell

Saunders Dave Douglas Forrester

Donaldson Saido

Subs - Moore, Bean, Legge, Morrison, McGinn (simply cos we don't have any other offensive players)

Depends which side turns up. They've gone a bit crap of late so you might well be right. It's irritating because they've got ability throughout the side and should be capable of scoring goals for fun. But they can't at the moment and I don't really know why not.

More positively Furman's back from injury and will hopefully make the midfield more competitive and Robbie Simpson's fit again and will probably add a little bit of creativity in behind Kuqi.

The number 19, Kieran Lee, is a full back worth keeping an eye on. Best footballer in the side.

How many are you expecting to bring down, tough one for a Tuesday, obviously?

I'd guess 200. But many of those will be exiles. Might be a bit less as there's a bit of a frustration at the way the season's panned out. Lost 4 winnable games in a row by the odd goal when better results would have made it in to 6th place. Chucked away the JPT too.

By the way, despite the "cloggers" comment above, Oldham have committed fewer fouls than any other side in the division. Bit soft really.

I don't think we'll keep the same side, Uwe said he'll play differently at home and I agree. Plus we can't be too predictable now can we ;)

Starting XI:
--------------Lee----------------
Logan-Osborne-Dean-Bidwell.
----------Diagouraga-----------
----Bean------------Douglas---
-----------Saunders------------
---Berahino-----Donaldson----

Subs: Moore, Legge, Forrester, McGinn, Morrison.

The diamond works great when we're confident and the players move the ball around 1-touch. I expect us to start tomorrow very much on the front foot.

I hope Simpson starts for them as well, I always liked him when he was here.

No Thompson? That's a bit tough on a lad who's been doing well? May depend on the height of the Oldham left mid?

I think Taylor's 6 foot when he stays on his feet.

In that case my exclusion of Thompson is under the assumption Taylor doesn't stay on his feet ;)

Fair enough though, I just reverted back to a formation and team used in more recent home games, given it's a bit more attacking rather than counter-attacking.

I'd go with exactly that :sorted:

I think the same 11 deserve another game, though that formation may be less effective if Oldham set out to defend. Moore ahead of McGinn on the bench for me, as I think omitting the reserve keeper is a risk that's not worth taking

play 2 upfront, Berahino or Morrison to partner Clayton....either Forrester or Logan to miss out...have a sub keeper on the bench

Same side (assuming all are fit) with Myles replacing Saido on the bench. If he cant make it then German.

Can we play 4411 on our narrow, tight pitch? We looked a different side on the bigger pitches of Preston and MK. Douglas had room to pick a pass, Logan and Forrester had time and space to do what they respectively do best. Saunders also benefitted from the room in front of there defences and behind their midfields. GP is narrow and tight and if Oldham play a 451 ( or something similar) and pack the midfield we may not be able to "play" and dare i say it even get overrun.

I think it is really tough one for Uwe and i couldnt blame him if he kept it the same (for obvious reasons) or if he changed it to suit a different environment in a different game.

Good point, well made mate. A diamond at home might be a better option.

Im not even sure the diamond is best. Ok our players were lacking in confidence against Rochdale and alot has changed since then but we struggled, with our diamond, to pass our way through their 5 in the middle. I really think it is a hard one for Uwe. Does he goes flat 442, 442 diamond, 4411, 451? Gonna be interesting to see what he decides on.

Well Berahino leaving put a spanner in the works, I feel we should play with 2 up front though but am not sure if Morrison is fit enough yet.

If he's fit start with him and Clay up front, if he's not quite there yet have Donaldson and Forrester can work as our second striker. Thompson can be added to the bench in either scenereo.

Agreed, it isnt an obvious one. Personally, I dont want to see Saunders back out on the wing which is why I'd favour a diamond over the other options but the last thing we want is to get involved with a congested midfield against Oldham's 4-4-1-1 (presumably).

Nothing wrong with Clinton providing the muscle and Clayton providing the movement.

I would only want to see Saunders on the wing if Forrester is inujured and McGinn is the only other option.

Reckon it'll be some variation on 4-4-2, with Morrison coming in for one of Forrester, Logan or Thompson

I'd go for the same starting line-up as Saturday but change the bench with Berahino replaced by Moore, and Weston (if not fit then Reeves) replacing McGinn.

I think Dickov will go:

Bouzani
Lee
Brown (if loan extended) or Tarkowski
M'Voto
Diallo

Taylor
Furman (c)
Adeyemi
Morais

Simpson

Kuqi

We'll pass it around nicely and never look like scoring and you'll win.

Unless Kuqi does this again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXCW_S7a8NM

Or Simpson does this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQbp3PsFWjU
Crikey, I got it 100% right! (no.20 Oldham sub is M'Changama, not Scappuzzi).
