Torn between wanting the first team to get more minutes to gel and getting the fringe players more game time.. Think a couple of the international starters need to sit this one out though.

Daniels, Dalsgaard, Goode, Pinnock, Henry, Baptiste, Marcondes, DaSilva, Dervisoglu, Toney, Mbuemo.

Subs: Balcombe, Sorenson, Thompson, Zamburek, Canos, Forss, Fosu

Is Baptiste fit? If he isn't we could go with Zamburek instead.

Will be interesting to see how we handle this, with the London Senior Cup Final being played the day before......
Presumably we'll need to play more "first teamers" than we would normally expect??

Think Dalsgaard needs “protecting” for the long term season so we play AN Other at RB and Thompson at LB, Would be inclined to try not to make Henry the RB if at all possible.

Give Zamburek the CN role with Baptiste and Marcondes.

Fosu Forss and Dervisoglu as front three.

I agree with most but I would start with Zamburek in place of Baptiste and Fosu in place of Mbeumo

We should play first teamers to get experience playing together against a decent side as it looks like players are on slightly different wavelengths. We won't, well play the second string and get knocked out. So predictable in this and the FA Cup and the hope will not appear this season

I am sure we will put out a second string team, basically everyone who did not start yesterday. Think Balcombe might get a run out as well. Soton will do the same.

So, looking at quite a few B teamers playing 2 games in 3 days??

Personally I don't think that we will pick a team with any thoughts of progressing in the competition. Sadly we are just not interested in cup football these days.

Think Zam needs to play this one. Could be an important player later in the season.

Given the performance on Sat I really think we should play a mostly first choice side. We clearly need the match practice. If we somehow get through then rest players in the next round. We need to get the team firing asap...

I would prefer the team that left the pitch smarting from being bullied out of the points on Saturday be left to take out their vengeance in the league. Let the peripheral players and B teamers have a go.

Definitely need to protect some of our first team players. Norgaard and Dalsgaard, Jansson, Henry, Dasilva all get rested for me.

Balcombe
RB? Could we throw Stevens in?
Good Pinnock and Thompson?
Baptise Marcondes Zamby
Fosu Forss Hali

Squad is desperate for some squad depth though.

I suspect Dalsgaard will play, Stevens on bench. Is Baptiste fit enough? Maybe Maghouma will be on bench

So true, if Toney could get a goal that would be perfect.

Come on we have more depth now than ever. That's virtually a completely different team from Saturday and still looks decent. How many players are going to want to join to only get onto the bench for a league cup game and not a hope for a league game. We have to be realistic!

I’m normally quite unfussed about the Cup competitions and don’t mind them being used to blood fringe players or give minutes to those returning from injury.

But, even though the fixture list is congested, I think we should see the Carabao as an opportunity to get our first choice team clicking. If it takes 5-7 games for everyone to be on the same wavelength I’d much rather that 2-4 of those games were in the Cup than in the league where below par performances will give us our customary hill to climb.

Raya
Dalsgaard Pinnock Jansson Thompson
Jensen Norgaard Da Silva
Mbeumo Toney Canos

Subs: Balcombe, Henry, Marcondes, Baptiste, Fosu, Forss, Goode

Raya needs a start to get match fit for Saturday but maybe it is too early. I know TF won’t pick Henrik and Pontus but I don’t see value in tiring Rico playing out of position. I’d rather give Rico a rest and give Thompson the experience of playing alongside the first choice defence. If we’re comfortable Rico could come on for Henrik. If we’re chasing we could bring Goode on for one of Henrik or Pontus in our move to 3CBs and to push Rico on for Thompson

We weren't bullied, we just didn't play at all well. We didn't have the tempo and players looked like strangers at times. Only way to fix that is playing games and a cup game is a bonus, gives us a chance to get some more fitness in and work on team play and the problems we had on Sat. Otherwise that's one extra game we're working on it in the league..

Balcombe, Maghoma, Stevens all played 120 minutes tonight so I wouldn’t expect any of them to start.

I say we were bullied, you say we weren't. I say leave the guys that played Saturday out if he cup game, you disagree. That's ok. You're allowed your opinion, so am I. Let's leave it there then, shall we?

Balcombe playing in the LSC Final probably counts him out.

Will be interesting to see how we handle the keeper situation, with Balcombe having played 120 mins last night and TF stating on Saturday that Raya 'should' be available for Hudders game (no mention of Saints....). Could be we go with Daniels starting and no GK on bench, like Wycombe did in first game.....Or still have Balcombe on the bench, assuming/hoping he won't be needed.....

Spot on. Some seem to think the additions need to replace players.

Neither are most clubs which is why I won't be wasting a tenner on it. I miss the excitement of what cup football used to mean. :(

I think we need to stay in this cup to give players a bit of exposure. Said could do with playing for this very reason.

Don’t want to Cup tie him , could affect transfer possibilities
I can't think of a Premiership club that would even consider putting a player like that on the bench for a League Cup game. Can't see why being cup tied would make any difference?

Simon Andersson is the one remaining fit/available keeper on our books, but expect to see Balcombe on the bench. I expect much the same squad as Wycombe, with the three B teamers and Valencia being replaced by Dervis, Sorensen and a couple of regular league starters. Someone'll need to come in for Jensen as well.

I "liked" this by accident. I can accept your arguments, but I hope you're wrong on both counts.

After last seasons sloecstart which probably cost us promotion... I would play the first team so they can get up to speed quicker.

Cant see the point of resting players in the first week of the season.

Ifvwe win on Wednesday and Saturday by all means put a weeker team out in round three

Me too but I think the same every year. We don't take this competition seriously and I understand the reasons why.

I think the team will be:
Daniels; Rico (if we are playing second string I would like to Stevens but I assume he played for B Team last night), Goode, Sorenson, Thompson; Baptiste, Zamburek, Maghoma; Fosu, Forss, Dervisoglu.

Be interested to see how we get on.

P.S I think you can unlike a post after liking ;)

Personally hope that Dervisoglu (especially), Baptiste and Thompson all start; Dervisoglu looks, at least to my eye, to have a real lot to offer; his cameos have earned him a start I reckon.

Definitely want to see Zamburek have a game, certainly can’t do any worse than Jensen and Marcondes
Amazing. Only a few weeks ago both were members of a team ripping teams apart. This really is gobsmackingly stupid

... and of course he has the advantage of having not played when we have lost recently.

I don't think Goode can play RB. Other than that I would go with this. Still very strong and gives certain players much needed minutes.
