I don't think Goode can play RB. Other than that I would go with this. Still very strong and gives certain players much needed minutes.
I believe he played RB for Scunthorpe a few times but could be wrong. Shame about Roeserlev’s injury, be nice to be able to rest both Henry & Dalsgaard

The young kid looks very good but we have an immediate problem with Roerslev crocked and obviously out for a while and Dalsgaard needing to be handled carefully and his minutes monitored as he was last season.

Really not sure how we will cope at right back over the next couple of months. Goode is an option but I would prefer to see him learn how we expect our central defenders to play. Swopping Rico is a duff idea.

Sergi has played right back. He was excellent in the first half at Swansea in the FAC a couple of seasons ago.

I can't think of a Premiership club that would even consider putting a player like that on the bench for a League Cup game. Can't see why being cup tied would make any difference?
Though Villa are starting Ollie tonight.

They must be looking to play him in the ressies for a season or two then I guess? 🤔
Grealish also starts. Anyone got the feeling getting to the Final in addition to scraping staying up was what saved Smith’s job?

Just asked my Scunny supporting brother-in-law if CG could fill in at RB. His response:

‘Graham Alexander has some very odd defensive strategies. He liked 3 centre backs so they continually interchanged, Goode had a long spell at full back. Heaven help you if these are Championship starts you are talking about, his strength is heading ability, anything approximating to coordinating the lower half of his body and he’s stuffed. Fortunately with no fans he’s unlikely to kill anybody in the crowd because about 1 clearance in 10 will stay on the pitch. £1.3 million well spent.(!!).And if you paid any more than half a million for Toney you’ve been robbed’

I’m sure he’s joking really.

Neither are most clubs which is why I won't be wasting a tenner on it. I miss the excitement of what cup football used to mean. :(
I know exactly what you mean. I miss the excitement of being knocked out early doors by Guildford, Yeovil (when they were a good non-league team as opposed to a sh*t non-league team masquerading as a league team) and f***ING Kingstonian.

Ah yes. But then there were games away at Liverpool and Manchester United in the 70s, when we actually played Liverpool and Manchester United. Not three first teamers that had been naughty that week, four reserves, three from the youth team and the tea lady in goal. ;)

Let’s get those to be twice a season fixtures rather than the chance to gawp as we put up a plucky fight before returning to action away at Spotland.

I'd go

Daniels
Goode Pontus Pinnock Thompson
Emiliano Baptiste Zamburek
Fosu Forss Dervisoglu

Bench: Balcombe, Mads Bech, Rico, DaSilva, Nørgaard, Canos, Toney

if you're going to play all three of our primary centre backs, i'd like em to go three at the back and try out a plan B personally - in a competitive game that doesn't really matter...

I wouldn't want to see Goode anywhere near fullback personally.

Showing my ignorance of technology but having purchased this this game, is on my PC the only way I can watch it? Is there some way to get it on TV via the many apps there seem to be now

Like me you may have to purchase a HMDI cable to connect both , other have suggested this , found 5 m cable not expensive £6:90 including del. waiting for my cable to see if it works. Won’t know until Saturday if cables come in time

Will be a second string 11, plus I suspect, Toney who needs game time, plus Pinnock and maybe Henry for cover at RB. I don't want to see a firist Xl, there's more than enough league football in the coming weeks and months in a shorter season when prep and recovery for the big games will be vital.

Ralph Hasenhuttl was disappointed with their performance vs Palace on Saturday and plans to put out a strong team he says
Of course a “strong” team in managers speak is only 2-3 first team players but “they are all professionals and international” blah blah blah

Starting with Ings and Adams. I think he meant it.

Indeed. If Southampton can be bothered, this could be a bit embarrassing.
They’ve made only one change from their PL game. If they can’t stroll to victory against our line up they’ve got a long hard relegation battle ahead.

A game we really don’t need with us having a seriously weakened squad.
Will we out in a performance or will it be another Derby?

The decent opposition has persuaded me to watch it on Carabao.

Saints are changing their youth set up to be Saints B, Solent radio tells me

With the players out there they’d have to play completely out of their skins against a full first team PL line up to get anything.

Seriously hope that none of Toney, Canos or Jansson were in contact with the B Team on Monday night! If so, Saturday could be difficult let alone tonight’s game!
