Whatever the side, i think it will be quite depressing seeing the same XI and formation tomorrow night. It is clearly not working.

'If' we stop the mistakes etc etc. There is zero confidence in this side that we can play football on the deck and build our way into games. It's not the defeats, it's the manner of them.

That is honestly what i'd do - Fernandez, Pinnock, Toney and Baptsite all not doing enough for me to warrant selection. Nobody is too big, these players need competition and pressure for their place.

I agree on Pinnock, but I think it's mental fatigue more than anything else. So give him a rest now MBS is fit. I would be very tempted by Jensen in this game: United will try to press, but they're not very good at it yet, so there will be gaps at the back, especially if the slow Maguire plays. So I'd probably look for something like:

Fernandez
Ajer, Pontus, MBS
Roerslev, Norgaard, Henry
Jensen, Janelt
Bryan, Toney

I would be equally happy swapping Jensen for Bidstrup for different reasons. I think the latter is a really promising little dynamo and want to see him get more gametime. But I think Jensen's passing from deep will be useful.

I wouldn't sit deep, but I wouldn't push up all the way, either. We should be looking to win the ball back in midfield and then quickly get it through the defense. Having the option to switch to 3 up top late on is going to be important if we can cut out the silly mistakes (looking at you, Pontus!). Ronaldo isn't fit, is he? That's a bonus.

True but at least with the ball pushing to a 3-4-3 would give us a greater attacking output in theory.
I don't think we've got strong enough midfielders to go with 2 in the middle. Showed v Liverpool and also Southampton.

it won’t happen, but I’d love to see a bit more skill and finesse in midfield for this one, especially as they are weak at the back!

Pinnock has got to start for me. Frank has said how important our set pieces are and he’s the only defender who really offers the threat. Is he really mentally or physically fatigued? Or did he just have a poor game by his standards?

I like Roserlev, but without the flair in midfield the wing backs need to create more and Canos can take a man on, although I’d like to see him do this more often, seems to be better at it when he on the left.
We really miss JDS or that creative midfielder who drives forward. Jensen on his day can create, I think his day will be tomorrow.

I'd like to see a variation of 4-5-1, but we probably don't have the training/system in place to suddenly switch mid season.

With Henry and canos rested, to avoid another forced sub.

With Ghoddos, Canos, Baptiste, Wissa the impact subs.

I feel the midfield needs to be beefed up a bit to make sure we can actually bring the ball forward together, rather than resorting to lumping it up.
