Not a bad shout that. Canos has played at wing back, albeit on the right, but can play on the left. Would rather Ghoddos as striker as he’s looked reasonably sharp in and around the box.

I hear what you say about Ghoddos m8 i just think Pressley is a strong lad. I've liked the look of his few cameos and Ghoddos would get out fought imho.

Fosu Mbuemo Canos

TF talks about getting some points on the board tomorrow and going from there. This seems the most obvious team in terms of getting our best and most experienced (fit) players on the pitch

I don’t think Pressley is anywhere near ready to lead the line in a Championship game. He can be as strong as a heavyweight boxer but he simply doesn’t read the game well enough yet.

If we start all the regular names they will likely be burnt out for the Stoke game which looks the tougher of the 2 games.
Tomorrow I'd give Pressley a go and why not see what Bidstrup can do. He's highly rated I thought?

No, put the strongest we can out or we go into stoke with 4 straight defeats. Haven’t we learned anything from last Saturday.

As many points as you can as early as you can, beat the sh*t ones first please.

Well, when you lose three on the bounce and have some new injury concerns, you need to find a new winning formula.

We are all hoping Toney and Norgaard will be involved. Safe to say Henry won’t be. Below is my best go based on the assumption none of them will start:

Raya
Dalsgaard Pinnock Janelt
Fosu Jensen Dasilva Mbeumo
Ghoddos Canos
Forss

Back 3/5 designed to be flexible enough to turn into a 4 if either wingback is caught up the pitch.

You’d maybe have Reid instead of Pinnock.

We will probably stick with a four at the back, obviously this is just a bit of harmless fun.
I don’t think that Raya would s
Don't know why we think that, judging from on here no one has any idea what lineup we are going to have.
We’ve got all the players, just not necessarily in the right order, as Eric Morecombe would say!

Yup,

I would probably go mads middle and Ethan left but other than that it’s about right.

All this talk of Pressley and Stevens, puts me in mind of Billy the Fish's Fulchester United, when Mick Hucknell, Shakin' Stevens and a pair of conjoined twins turned out for them alongside a 64 year old blind man who scored 13 second half goals with the aid of a mechanical ball.

Glad you brought a bit of realism to this thread Mazz.

Yup,

Presumably those thinking Ethan should play LB see him adopting a mainly defensive approach ie not hairing down the line like Rico does. Be interesting to see how that would work given we have relied on the latter approach so much. One of the reasons I favour 3-5-2.

Whoever plays on the left, whether it be MBS or Pinnock, the overlapping will now come from Dalsgaard or Roerslev on the right with the LB tucking in to form a three at the back when covering.

My technical knowledge of football tactics was largely formed by reading "Legge's Eleven" in the "Valiant" every week. Surprised we haven't tried the five-man pyramid yet.

OK, so this involves a quite radical change in our approach. I have seen it suggested that we should not change formation because of the change it would involve, but at least with 3-5-2 we would still be attacking down both flanks, not limiting ourselves to one.

Hope we don't start playing people out of position - doesn't work for us. Give the second/third choices their chance at the start, not as a last resort for ten minutes.

Correct. We have two roles that must be filled by players out of position: Left Back and Central Attack. Given that, it seems a bit of a risk to play anyone else out of position and certainly to jiggle around with formations so that even more players are being asked to play unfamiliar roles.

I'd include left back and striker in that as long as they are in the first team squad. If you don't they shouldn't be in the squad.

For some players (Norgaard and Marcondes) TF specificies they won't be in the squad, with regards to JDS and Toney he says they won't start, you reckon that means they'll be on the subs bench?

TF prefers 3 up top, according to his interviews. 3 4 3 maybe, probably 4 3 3. 3 5 2 unlikely. But at the moment, who knows!

Interesting tweet from Bryan "moving forward" . Maybe this indicates his new position tonight in cryptic way?

I'm hoping mate, hoping.

Raya
HD, WR, MBS, EP
Jenson, Janelt, Ghoddos
Fosu, BM, Canos

This team is not as bad as some think, BM pace could cause some real issues if we can get the ball behind the back 2. Could be a real turning point for him.

JDS and Toney to come on with 20 left.

I would be amazed at a change of formation, we have players who can play in 433 so why would we mess about.

I'd have preferred it to have been in different circumstances but I'm looking forward to seeing how BM does if he starts as our 9 today.

As others have said, we've can put out a very decent team even with all the injuries.

They can fit in that formation, sure, but whether they can actually play it the way we generally do is very doubtful indeed! To give another illustration in addition to the Ethan one above - when will Mbuemo ever have played with his back to goal, holding the ball up in the way Ivan does and Ollie did before him? Very probably never.

For these reasons, if we do play a 433 formation, I sure do hope we have worked out a different way of playing it!
