I don't think there's been any previous known situations where Covid has been transmitted between opposing players during a match? Given games are played outdoors, with generally only fleeting close contact, we should hopefully be ok on that score. The bigger risk is likely to be whether Toney infected anyone else before he moved into isolation. If so, we may not find out until 7pm on Friday evening!

Judging by the personnel played this week in the BCD and B team games it looks like many are ok, albeit not 1st team starters. Fingers crossed.

I dono about you guys but i'm tired of this 3-5-2 ugly defensive football! and sad thing is that its not working! 20 goals in our last 10 games! Shocking! I know we had couple of injuries but surely thats not the main cause! Teams attack and defend well with 4-3-3 ! I'm sure we can do it too.

We should move back to 3-4-3 or 4-3-3!

What are you thoughts!

Could be. But as Frank says, we need to be braver.. VJ's not been at his best recently and the Norgaard/Janelt combo isn't great, particularly offensively. Need to be able play quicker on the ball at home I feel and more of our passing game particularly with Toney out. Need to keep the ball better too..

Does Vitaly need to be a few yards further forward, and make more of those chances with runs into the box. I hope Shandon is fit enough to start again, if he isnt MJ to pick out passes for Yoane & Bryan. We can’t let the distance between the 2 midfielders ahead of CN and the front 2 become too big.
Watford have only played with 1 up front in the last 7 games, Josh King. But Dennis has been a threat on their right so he will keep Rico busy

With the Barnet BCD on Monday, lots have had minutes, so we do have options if we need to tweak things in the more forward roles. If Rico can’t get forward much could Dominic Thompson have a chance to play on the left with Wissa if Bryan comes off later on. DT scored a volley and sent in a cross for Wissa (v Barnet) so him not needing to be thinking about defending he might be a surprise. NYC, replaced Wissa so that doesn’t suggest they will be on the pitch together tomorrow.

Absolute safety is the priority of course, I’m not disputing that. But is there a concrete rule on how many players need to contract it. I see where you're coming from, the football is quite boring at times. I would prefer 4 3 3 but I think the defensive problems are mainly down to injuries. We were a real force to be reckoned with when we had Raya Ajer and Zanka available. But at the moment I think 4 3 3 is the way to go

Quite a regular scenario at Brentford over the last few years is everyone sh*tting the bed over a peculiar team selection only to find it works quite well on the pitch.
Injury, COVID, Suspension, etc. can happen to any player(s) at any time. It's all out of our control.

But we have what, 50+ pro players on our books across the first and B team? We should have the depth to compete in games (esp. against the bottom half) regardless. And so far that has proved the case. Only 45 minutes (at Burnley) all season where that hasn't held true. Let's just have faith in whatever team is put out tonight.

I'd use a few more full stops and use exclamation marks a little more sparingly.

I'd be surprised if we lined up with 4 at the back - reading the brilliant interview with Thomas Frank (on a website not a million miles away from this page) he suggests the team have practised 5-3-2 and 3-4-3, but not 4 at the back. So would be very surprised if we line up 4-3-3.

Yup. Seemed to make the wrong decisions at the crucial moment and easily tackled. He's turned into a bit of a nearly man in terms of what he's trying to do actually coming off.

I still think he's great but just think his standard has slipped in recent weeks so maybe could do with a rest, but obviously we can't with Toney and Dan is out.

Hopefully he'll prove me wrong against Watford.

He also had to adapt his game against Leeds and it must be diffcult when you lose your strike partner like we did with toney.

Also the Leeds game was high press game and very diffcult when in your face like Leeds play.

Canos and Brian was a weird combination but it worked at Times. He needs to feed of anouther player and play close to the offside line as possible. He's pace is key for us this season

He has to play for me and I've been impressed with him in this league but as always he will be inconsistent but he is one of those players you can't drop on that basis because he can just as quick have a great game and come alive.

I'm not disagreeing with all you say and your reasons but with no toney its not the right time for me.

Apparently not - there's an item.on BBC Sport on this very question. I reckon teams should probably have to live with 3 or 4 squad members out, otherwise there's a risk of significant disruption to the whole season. Hopefully it won't come to that, for us at least.
