So champions league qualification will definitely have to wait until next year, that’s a shame.
Europa League, or the one Leicester are in, would be interesting with possible trips to Tel Aviv or obscure Baltic regions. Could be Connah's Quay Nomads even.

For me, I don't really see the attraction of the Europa league in modern football. It certainly doesn't have the attraction or aura of the old Uefa Cup. Mind you, that's more to do with the CL now.

I guess for those that follow the team everywhere, it allows them to visit grounds of well established European clubs and say they've seen the Bees in Europe.

The reality is, unless you've got a decent sized quality squad, it just seems to get in the way of the domestic programme. Yes, West Ham and Leicester have progressed well, but their PL form has suffered as a result.

All about opinions mate but mine is very different to yours.

Watching the Bees compete in a European competition would be amazing on so many levels and be something to savour and enjoy.

That is crazy.

Everton would need 11 points in there last 8 games, averaging 1.4 points per game… they currently average 0.9 and play at Anfield next.

AND

Burnley would need 14 points from there last 7 games, averaging 2 points per game… only Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea have managed that this season!

or

Watford would need to win all 6 of their remaining games.
And Burnley have to play Watford, no doubt others still have to play teams with fewer points than us too. It’s between Burnley & Everton imho for final spot, with Leeds only that could get dragged in. Games we have left Spurs Man Utd Southampton Everton & Leeds will see us with minimum 5/6 points anyway.

The bottom 3 will come from the current bottom 4. Everyone else can relax.

It’s closing right up down there now. Expecting Everton to drop into the relegation zone today. Leeds are very much in Burnley’s sights now with the next 3 games in mind

Yes please
They ain't up yet, but fair play to them, they've done better than everyone imagined including myself.
We're still not going down on 40pts. 👍

😂😂. Didn't say we were. Still think / hope Leeds lose their next two games. We will really be in a position to send them down then!

I'd prefer it if we didn't send them down, Brentfords only just built a nice new stadium and the surrounding area could do without a makeover already, like they did in Bournemouth back in the nineties.
😂 They'll be pissing in the fountain outside sainsburys and all sorts of inbred behaviour. 🤼‍♂️

If we do some of the local residents may well have something legitimate to moan about.

If Leeds lose to the Arse and the Chelse they would need a mad goal swing to catch us in their last two games - presuming we lose every game. Everton have some easier fixtures for all their crapness and could hobble over the line. I will never truly relax until there are three clubs who cannot finish above us, remember all those on here who wrote off Burnley?

I did think Burnley were probably gone but while they were struggling they were still picking up draws and not conceding a lot. They’ve found an extra 10% rather than turned their ship around completely and fair play to them

What happens around us is what's important now. Aiming for the highest possible finish and hopefully if we beat Manure a top 10 place.

Southampton also below us and we play them next week, then they have Liverpool and Leicester.

Good pound Gumboselfish.
I was thinking/hoping things had changed but obviously not on the evidence of yesterday’s game and the torrent of stuff lobbed at Grealish etc
I don’t particularly like the bloke either but there’re boundaries.
The FA should stamp down hard?

I'm shocked that some people still think we could go down, we're not going down, please relax.

I don't think we are going down. However, there were those who were saying we were definitely staying up in March and people posting anything to challenge this were rubbished. Blind optimism has never been a feature of my time following this club.

The D&G brigade have been vanquished for 2 seasons in a row....
How about the Mildly Concerned Brigade? This secret freemasonry of supporters has been the voice of sensibility this season.
How I wish I had had the same optimism as the current Rose Tinted Glasses Possee in 1966, 1973, 1993 etc.

The official name is the Irrational Concerned Brigade I understand. Voice of Sensibility? Nah? It would be like a similar set of Manchester supporter sh*tting themselves about relegation after 3 games.

There are various factions. The ICB, of which you speak, are a bunch of revisionist splitters. My own group, the Brown Trouser Collective, base our policies on the latter half of the 92/93 season and hold a silent vigil on the anniversary of the defeat at Ashton Gate.

Anyone read the Athletic piece on Norwich, just on how they just utterly missed the mark again.

The Brentford relevant sections were that they tried to bring Kristoffer Ayer to Norwich but weren't willing to go over the £10m mark. And how they inquired about Eriksen, but his wage demands and the fact that he wanted to move to London ended that idea quickly. Otherwise it was a case of a lack of identity and having to replace players even after the season had started.

I saw you lot at the Forum back in '91. Think you were supporting Lickspittle and the Handpumps.

The best bit of the Ajer story for them was that apparently they thought there was no need to go over £10m because they could get him for nothing with a pre-contract agreement in January. Yeah, they’d have been really appealing to move to then. What it really means is their DoF thought the players he actually spent money on last summer were better.

Sounds a like a bit of a nuanced point of view, for online debate in 2022.
Everything is brilliant, or terrible, and always will be.

A single point dropped by Burnley, or a single point gained by us, and they cannot catch us.

If Leeds lose tomorrow (away at Arsenal) then they are in the same boat.

As soon as this happens we become officially mathematically safe.
