Who the fk else is going to take training today and manage the team on saturday? Hand it to the youth manager again? That worked last year didn't it?

Guess he had to go

Well I guess he had to go because he had clearly lost the confidence of the board, the players and importantly us.

I hope the board learns the lesson from this as we are first becoming a club that only has a manager for a few months. I don't want to sound negative but it is really up to the Chair to show leadership now and sort this all out.

If you're all going to Wrexham.....

Sorry it went wrong, we were desperate and so was he and it could have been an inspired move but...

WTF has Andy Scott done to deserve being elevated to Caretaker Manager? When Butcher was looking for advice on lower leagues from his assistant, look what we ended up with. Crazy, crazy decision - how he has survived is beyond me although I guess nothing should suprise me anymore when it comes to the Brentford boardroom.

Isn't this just the norm when the Boss is sacked, the assistant takes TEMP charge?

Dont get me wrong, I think BOTH should have gone, but I dont see anything wrong with him being put in TEMP charge if he is kept on

Only a clear-out (yes, again, sadly) will do.

A real shame for TB that it's ended like this. He remains an England hero but clearly wasn't up to the job. Glad to see the board taking action though.

Paul Mortimier and Alan Reeves never took over when their bosses were sacked.

Its a no brainer, he had to go!.
As other posters have mentioned, Butcher will always be an England hero and like many on here I was pleased with his appointment as manager, but looking back at his track record I guess we shouldnt off let him any where near our club...hind sight hey! Great thing.
Now, please dont let GD pick the next manager, for the love of god!

i do not see the alternative. Who e;se will do it, dickins or dyke.

When we appoint a new one he may well find himself on the way.

If that dickins starts another long winded interview process I will go to GP and throw rotten fruit at him.

Like the FA selecting a new manager, if they need to speak to platini, beckenbaur and fkin pele to find out who the best candidates then they should not be involved in the decision making!

Likewise if dyke and dickins do not know 3-4 likely candidates that do not need interviewing then they should not be running a football club!

At the risk of this all being debated on a later thread.....This is a worrying decision.

Paying off TB, and leaving AS in charge.
AS, the man who recommened Mackie and Thorpe.....two players who didnt play on Saturday (one of our best performances)

I'll give AS a chance, to see what he can do differently to Butcher..but seeing his choices in players, I am worried, that things will now get worse rather than better.

Two games maximum while we arrange a new boss in my opinion. Even if we win both it shouldn't be Scott.

Cheerio

It's a shame that we have to keep sacking managers, but it was never going to work. I just hope we can get someone in who can sort it out.

Look what happened then?

If this was a mutual decision as they report then they did not have time to look elsewhere. Also if we believe what D&D have been saying then they though TB was the right mann therefore by default they still back Andy Scott. I don't friggin know!, but I am sure there a few short term alternatives!

I feel a bit sorry for him.
Scotty was the one he brought in to bring in the players with his "KNOWLEDGE" of the lower leagues.

At last some action, but I am more than a tad worried by AS taking charge, as he was the one making the recommendations.

Someone has to take temporary charge, we have a game to prepare for and training to undertake. We could have put Marshall in charge or Quin, but who else.
S****horpe put their Physio in charge and look what happened to them.

Great news, although about 4 weeks too late!!!

The only downside is Scott being in charge for Saturday, but at least the inept Butcher has left!!

Finally he is OUT!!

I love the essential narkiness of the Bees fans - makes me very proud. A black lining on every silver cloud.

[Daish / Allen / Whoever] OUT !

Process of elimination perhaps, who else is there? Someone has to run the team. Hopefully no one within Brentford football club believes he can be anything more than a temporary caretaker.

Whether a new manager will keep him on is another matter, personally I don't know how good a coach he is, or if there will be funds for a new man to bring in his own people.

Anyway it is a relief Butcher is gone. Personally I will see what unfolds before criticising the board (again), or praising them.

Last chance saloon

I am sorry it hasn't worked out for Butcher. :( I am relieved that he is no longer our manager. Let's hope for all of our sakes that the board's next appointment is a good one otherwise out of league football and existence we will go.

Why would he accept the temporary position if he didn't believe he was a candidate for the permanent position? :fishing:

not to be mercenary, but what does mutual consent mean in terms of contracts and compensation?
