Like me, you lot didn’t get Wood for long.

Not his fault, your big fast bowler shouldn’t be under this much pressure with the bat.

An utter disgrace.
They should all hang their heads in shame and offer to quit - they cant be deemed professional sportsmen after this

2 Days and 1 Hour plus - this is grim.
With talk that the next test may stay in Melbourne too due to COVID restrictions - Boland may end up with 20 wickets in the series.

Wow an absolute mess. The dressing room will be in bits. God knows where we go from here for the two remaining games.

Cummins aside who is top class, their support bowlers getting all the wickets are decent, but nothing special. Says a lot about our fragile technique and mentality as a batting side.

Roots a bang average captain at best, but you have to feel sorry for him as a batsman in this series.

On the bright side a much earlier night than expected…🥺

To lose by an innings in less than 2 days and not even a full session on day 3 is humiliating.

Silverwood should resign today.

Might as well let the Barmy Army have a go in the next test match. At least give the travelling fans something 😂

What excuses are they going to come up with to explain this one away.

Apparently extras are our third highest run scorer this year.

54 ducks in this calendar year tells the story. Hope Root doesn’t blame the bowlers again.

I think we have many more things to be furious about after that sh1te.
Batting line up has been crap for a good few years now so I wasn't expecting a lot even if I didn't think we would be THAT bad. Looking on the bright side you can't sugar coat how poor they have all been so if the ECB care about test cricket then changes must be made......whatever they are

Well that interview with Root, from Gilchrist was a load of crap.
Not asking any meaningful questions.

I suspect even Adam Gilchrist felt sorry for England with some very soft questions just now in his interview with Root.

The ECB doesnt care about test cricket, they only care about getting the kiddiwinks to whatever new abomination of the game they come up with and taking their parents money.
You think our test team is bad now, wait for another 10 years, when our crappy pub cricket competitions come to fruition - batting for 27 overs will be seen as an achievement

Sadly thats exactly where I see it going too. Unless they make drastic changes now.

The big issue I have with the very short format cricket is those who attend don't actually give a f*** about the cricket, its barely watched, generally just an excuse for a piss up. Actually most entertainment in this country is generally an excuse for a piss up.

They want as many kids as possible there for the parents money, thats why they have sh*t concerts in the break - they might as well have Mr Tumble as the kids would prefer that.
Allstars cricket is a waste of time, coaches babysit on saturday mornings instead of doing meaningful coaching with older players and once finished the kids dont continue year after year.

There is just this general theme that youngsters don't have the attention span to enjoy anything that is time consuming or maybe a little bit challenging. My opinion is that is a self fulfilling prophecy. Everything gets dumbed down. When they become young adults, they seem to adapt to challenging situations so why do we think they can't handle that as youngsters.

Its also that decent coaches at club level are forced to coach this crappy "swing at every ball" rubbish - coaches are being dumbed down too, which is VERY bad for the future - we train to be the best we can be, then end up just being glorified babysitters

I did some coaching about 3 years ago.

Only one kid out of 10 (aged about 13) knew who Jos Buttler was. Yet they play cricket every sunday and games in the week.

Its merely to give the parents time to do something else. They just aren't interested.

Pat Cummins being very diplomatic, and resisting the temptation to say we've been crap.

For balance to my comments though, a major sport where matches aimed at preparing for the highest level are watched by 100 old blokes who bring along their own sandwiches is not sustainable.

Also there is no real pressure, no tribal support and smallish personal contracts.
Throw them into test matches with partisan crowds after a season or two milking the polite county scene doesn’t prepare them, especially when their contracts are decided mainly on the short game anyway with becoming a 20/20 name that will travel the main goal.
