I've always said Buttler is a sh*t wicket keeper and not a test player.
Soooo close!!!!!Richie's favourite score
Foakesy/Stokesy/WoakesyCan someone pls remind me why Foakes isn’t the wicket keeper?
At least. Personally I’d go further and ban for life any pro who cheats and undermines the integrity of the game. Although I doubt many would take a line as hard as the one I do.Should have been a 5 year ban.
If their bowlers swing it more than our bowlers it will be extremely suspicious. At least. Personally I’d go further and ban for life any pro who cheats and undermines the integrity of the game. Although I doubt many would take a line as hard as the one I do.

I thought we got it tactically spot on initially, tight bowling slow the scoring, nick a wicket and then utilise the conditions under the lights.
However, when the lights started to take effect we seemed to change tactic and went for a spell of short pitched bowling. Surely that was the time to continue probing on or around off stump trying to get them to nick off.
I gave up by the last hour.
...........Sam Allardyce...............I have zero faith in Silverwood and his acolytes tbh. Comparing his situation with football, can you imagine someone with hardly any international experience as a player and only one year's experience as a manager/coach of a prem team being made England football manger?

I agree regarding Silverwood but we did have two bowlers with 1000 test wickets between them on the pitch they should have been saying how we should be bowling.
The one area where I was a bit confused is that Root bowling in the final session. The bowlers were picked explicitly for the day/ night conditions so why was Root bowling?
I think it was to get through the 80 overs quicker & get more overs with the new ball later on.The one area where I was a bit confused is that Root bowling in the final session. The bowlers were picked explicitly for the day/ night conditions so why was Root bowling?

Stick with it because they go to Jamaica in a minute then Mexico. And now we're treated to one-sided Aussie commentary. Will they rotate to commentators from other countries or do I turn off now?!
Replacing Whoopsie.Foakesy/Stokesy/Woakesy
This has to happen at least once in my life.

You planning a looooooooong lie in then??!!Hopefully wake up to 8 (eight) BBC wicket notifications tomorrow morning and their two new bowlers are rubbish.
Agreed. Maybe he regrets that decision now but was probably hoping the seamers would be better placed to take wickets with a slightly newer ball earlier and then bowl his overs once it has really died?So why did Root not bowl 10-11 overs before the tea break, get through the overs then and maximise the more favourable conditions under the lights with the seamers.

I think the initial tactics have been OK but Australia have had some luck and we have dropped a few catches at important times....Buttler the perfect example today. If those chances were taken then we may be talking differently about the tactics. As it is some of it does raise an eyebrowPossibly. Just feels that we are muddled in our thinking, from selection to tactics.

Never seen a drop from a keeper like that. It was actually in his gloves!Awkward isn't it, I'd put Buttler in every England team that takes the field but that drop was sh*t.
I would like to have heard from a former keeper as to what happened. Technique at fault, or the gloves themselves. Could he not feel the ball properly?Never seen a drop from a keeper like that. It was actually in his gloves!
The good news is that it now replaces the Neal Maupay miss at Cardiff as the biggest sporting balls up ever.Never seen a drop from a keeper like that. It was actually in his gloves!
The drop was top draw....its the "catch" that was sh*t.Awkward isn't it, I'd put Buttler in every England team that takes the field but that drop was sh*t.
I would pick him in every white ball side.Awkward isn't it, I'd put Buttler in every England team that takes the field but that drop was sh*t.
More a lapse of concentration in my opinion. The gloves seem to work fine for 125 others that passed the edge previously.I would like to have heard from a former keeper as to what happened. Technique at fault, or the gloves themselves. Could he not feel the ball properly?
Well I think the first bit will definitely happen now - hopefully part 2 doesn'tI'll call it now, they'll score 450+ and we will be 30-3 by close of play tomorrow.
Jimmy gets Smith for 93.
Another cheat bites the dust.
Would have preferred to have got them for 0 personally.something satisfying that both Warner and Smith got out in the 90s.
@glennj219 can you help?I would like to have heard from a former keeper as to what happened. Technique at fault, or the gloves themselves. Could he not feel the ball properly?
Matt Prior said in the studio to Sir Alastair Cook that he had just been saying “Don’t get lazy” to Buttler as he could see his concentration levels were dropping - he could tell by watching his footwork apparently.I would like to have heard from a former keeper as to what happened. Technique at fault, or the gloves themselves. Could he not feel the ball properly?
Although I doubt many would take a line as hard as the one I do.
You just knew the 'tail' would get runs against us. Draw at best for us here.
