Went looking through their results since January in the hope of finding some crumbs of comfort away from home. Not many, but they did manage 0-0 draws away to Notts F and Swansea. I remember they also beat Leeds at home earlier in the season at home & kept a clean sheet. I cannot see 0-0 in this game in a million years! The odds are not in our favour, but I disagree the pressure's on them. However, pressure may be on if it gets to the hour mark and they haven't scored. QPR's best chance is for WBA to go a bit gung ho and leave themselves open - QPR are good at scoring in open games. Sadly, they are more than likely to let some in!

The point he is making is that points per game averages to determine season outcomes at the three quarter stage do not account for the fact that the pressure ramps up in the last few matches...and as we have seen (and will hopefully see again tomorrow with QPR) produces unlikely outcomes. The guy is a bit of an enigma to me. Back when he wrote for The Times I used to enjoy his reporting and missed it when he moved elsewhere. But then, as one who gives the Mail a wide berth, I only read about his Brentford/Moneyball comments after hearing about it from the GPG and I was disappointed that he should say what he did about us. I suppose that is the pressure you have as a writer of opinion pieces, to say things that will stir up debate.

That annoyed me but I have to admit that when he appears on Sunday Supplement I still usually find him entertaining and tend to agree with most of the things he has to say.

If West Brom choke again tomorrow or we go up in the play-offs it would be nice to think he'll give us due credit at some point. Certainly the journalists on last Sunday's edition of SS all spoke well of us and seemed keen that we go up along with Leeds and WBA.

What respected journalist would leave The Times for The Daily Mail? And again, what respected SPORTS journalist would take the same path? It's also noteworthy that The Athletic didn't come calling either....

We have had pressure from game 1 of the restart. Some of those 8 games that we won could have easily ended up as a draw or a defeat. The margins are small, but it could be argued in some of those games we got the rub of the green. Against Stoke it could be argued we did not get the rub of the green. If the Pinnock incident had ended up with a penalty given, that was converted, the game could have been so different, but football is like that. We were not top of our game, but I also think we were a little unlucky, fine margins. However, one game does not make us a bad team overnight. We can still achieve the goal, with a little bit of luck.

Two of the 4 teams in the play off spots at restart didn’t last the distance. We were level with one and only 4 points above the other and had taken 0 points from 9 against them. Finishing where we did and not only securing a play off spot but being within a game of automatic promotion and within a game of play off promotion is pretty impressive, even if 4 of the last 5 games disappointed.
