…and before all the know nothing about football lot on here go on with their usual bedwetting insults and we aren’t going down because we are Brentford and somehow entitled to stay up cos we got 23 points etc etc etc….let’s just remember we were 6th at Xmas and dropped straight into relegation in 93….we are now in a relegation battle and anyone who thinks we ain’t needs to give their head a wobble….we are right in it 🧐

we have 3 players starting for me who just aren’t good enough at this level….canos roeslev and Jensen…..and forss too…..we need better if we are to stay up….I hope TF is looking at some fresh faces to bring in as we need more quality👍

gonna be an exciting last few months 😳😬

Calm down Voice, we are still +2 points above where we need to be at an absolute minimum. Probably +6.

Relax.

I would add Baptiste to your trio.
Too easily pushed off the ball and ineffective far too often.
Canos can't go past anyone and if he doesn't want the ball he just get shot of it.
9 times out of 10 it ends up at the feet of the opposition.

As I've posted before, I remember you and others saying there was no way we would go down a few years ago when we were on an awful run under Smith and one could not see where the next win was coming from. We them won a few games and stayed up
comfortably.

At what point should we be worried this season?

Someone said in a thread recently that we have to play all the teams below us before the end of the season and that will decide things. Four wins probably sufficient but recent form gives serious cause for concern. I really worry that two of the current bottom four start to improve and we are dragged into a relegation spot. Time to start grinding it out and keeping it tight. We are conceding goals for fun at the moment and unless that gets sorted we are going down.

I'm pretty sure I saw the thread starter drinking from a can of beer through a straw today which should invalidate his opinions immediately :fishing:
Must be new Brentford 😉

Chill.

Before todays game i told my friend it was a flip of a coin who would win. We lost but that idea easily held true. We will get another few wins, we will get another few losses.

Josh DaSilva and David Raya will be huge for us. All good and hopefully another Dane to join (if he hasn't noticed our recent losses 🤦‍♂️). It's up to us to get a few more wins, but we are trying...

.....I reckon 9 points at home....and 3 away.....might be enough.... wouldn't want any fewer than that going into last game of season....I haven't been arrested at a football match for many many years.

Someone’s had a few by the looks of it !

Where was this thread at the start of the season ?

We are where we are, what given right do we have not to be in a relegation fight, in our first season in the best division in the world ?

Now is the time to be honest before it's too late, your post might not be popular but I'd agree we're in serious trouble as things stand. We have the time to react though and I think we'll realise how difficult getting promoted again would become.
They’re not popular with the usual suspects on here who either hardly ever go or know nothing about football anyway 👍 sleepwalking into relegation position unless things change….4 games and 4 defeats in a week and a half….hmmmm🤔

To be fair to @Voice from the Braemar - in previous seasons he has started these threads too early for me - but today the timing feels fair. I am now resigned to a relegation dog fight. We have enough spirit to stay up but it is going to be ugly. I love every player that pulls on the shirt, none of them are slackers, but only half of our team would make it into other mid-table PL sides.

I agree we are in trouble and things need to change for the better and quickly. I don't agree about your players though. Roeslev has played excellently in several games, most notably against Villa, Sergi has immense skill and when playing in his right position is one player who can go past defenders and can score goals. Jensen does have his off games but has been much improved of late and I think is a good player. No need to single out players in my view, the team as a whole have been short on quality since game eight, not helped by injuries it is true.

With our budget it's probably right we'd be in a fight to survive but the start made us more confident. The reality is different now with more and more coaches working us out and whilst it isn't a criticism there are players in the squad who wouldn't get into another PL squad. However whilst we have to wake up and be honest I still think we'll do enough things right to survive, we don't panic as a club but the stats/analysis must show we're in big trouble at the minute.

Superb reply 👏👏👏👏

BUT Which 4 games we winning ? You must guarantee this too as I will be watching closely 🙄
Good question.

After extensive research I can reveal we will beat Palace, Newcastle and Burnley at home.

Watford away.

Staying up on Goal Difference thanks to a Jensen penalty in the last 5 mins of the last game, a game we lose 4-1.

I'm please to see the arrival of this thread.

It normally results in a positive turnaround in form, which is clearly what we need at the moment. (y)
Me too. I tried to get him to do it sooner. He's not wrong either. Some of the teams below are scrapping for their lives and starting to win. They also have games in hand. Points in the bag are better, obviously, but nonetheless... And apart from 1st half on Wednesday we have been playing like a non-league side.

I'm a positive bloke, so I think we'll do it... but it won't just happen. We've got to make it happen. Play proactively like on Wednesday and we stand a chance. Ivan coming into form will help, too. JDS might help, but not yet. And that's clutching at straws a bit. Similarly, would be clutching at straws to think new signings will slot in seamlessly mid-season.

Aside from any of the above, the one big piece of the jigsaw - the one massive catalyst - needed to turn a season around, has historically proved to be Voice starting his relegation thread. Some sides get new manager bounce. We have the Voice effect. Well done that man.

It’s not rubbish, we are getting dragged in to one. We can’t buy a win at the moment. It doesn’t matter how we play.
But my point is, in response to you saying about those who feel we have a given right to be in the Prem, at the same time we don’t have a given right not to be in a relegation fight here.

This season was always going to be hard. I still think we will be alright but as we know, or possibly seeing, that can change quickly

Still too early for going down thoughts......what else apart from a relegation battle was expected for this season, really ?

Exactly this. Roerslev struggled today but has shown enough in this run in the team that he will be a decent PL right back.
Sergi run himself into the ground in the Wing-back positions & shown he is a valuable squad player at this level. His strength lies as an attacker as he showed up top against Leeds. His detractors are probably the same people telling he wasn't good enough at Championship level last season when he came back from his ACL.
Jensen is marmite but his all round game against Man Ure & today before the head clash proved to me he has something to contribute at this level.
You could probably make a case for quite a few players who have been inconsistent this season as "not being good enough" for the PL but the truth is most have shown they are in fits & starts - like the team in general. This season is a massive learning curve for most.

Feeling a bit down after our recent defeats and the way we’ve been playing. But trying to look at the situation objectively - the teams that are worse than us, the cyclical nature of wins and defeats of teams in our position, and the difference next week could make (CE coming in 🤞and possibly others) I’m still hopeful and reasonably confident that we’ll be ok. Bookies seem to think so too - still 9/1 relegation odds with eg Paddy Power.

Based on the bottom 4

Unlike prior seasons 35 Could be enough to stay up

So thats 3 home wins
And 3 other draws home and away

Sorted....

Of course we're in a relegation fight, but as things stand we're in a great position to win that fight. Betting markets have us just over 10% probability to go down which feels about right. But let's face it, we'd have all taken that at the start of the season.

Clearly we need to start playing a bit better than we have been (Man U 1st half, apart) but I think we're on a dip at the moment and results and performances will pick up again. We should also have JDS, Raya and maybe even that Danish fella for a big chunk of those remaining 15 matches. Reasons to be positive!

Are you saying that TF has no say or idea of who we might bring in ???? no say at all ? Ever ?? 👀
Of course he gives an opinion on who he'd like - as do all the coaches, he chairman and even Bob the Kitman probably. Same all of us reading the GPG. But neither TF or any of us actually decide who to sign.
