It is too low  Can this be remedied?

I remember way back during the Miss GPG 2004 contest this bugged me. 7 years i've lived with this pain  Please increase the number of smileys allowed to frolic in a single message.

Thanks in advance for your prompt response.

I think there maybe some room for some flexibility in the future - for example, I can see that the GPG membership may wish to use more smileys as we raise a cheer for our dear prince and his lovely bride in April. Perhaps we can add it to to the list of treats that we're planning on the GPG on the special day. I'll put it to Slatts - I think it was he who is going to be managing that side of things.

I think we'll need more whenever Andy Murray plays in a grand slam and hopefully after the JPT final :bound:  :bound:  :bound:

I agree with cbu. It reminds me of players getting booked for celebrating a goal; killjoy busybodies flexing their muscles.

Also, it means i cannot quote a post that has already used up the maximum number of smillies.

Many thanks

Good point Wisbee. Les did hand over managing the smileys to Slatts and he has banned them.

I guess the job should fall to me since I hand raised most of them from pups.

Oh Yeller

:)

Turn 'round now boy

There's a good boy

Cheers Slatts, I might just finish this later when my hand stops shaking. This one had pups of it's own, i'll let it curl round them for one more night if you don't mind.

is there an actual reason for the limit? such as, the server would go crrrrrrazy if we had unbridled smiley joy?!

Don't know - possibly something to do with limiting the size of posts (because of the impact on the size of the database). I can't really think clearly at the moment - still too traumatised about wee yeller. When I went to bed he was fine but now, gone ........

I hold Slatts responsible I'm afraid - I'll no longer be able to raise a contented smile to his cheery posts from now on.

Is there actually a reason to have more than 10 smilies in a post?

I've seen other forums and it's nein danke from me.

yeah, he's shown a slightly dark and bitter side to his character there  maybe not the lovable old cuddly uncle that we previously believed :(

certainly a fair point. possibly similarly, at work we have a 32,000 character limit on our emails - it just seems so arbitrary, but then the counter-argument is "when would you ever need more than 32,000 characters"

but what if you do need them?! :D

i would have unlimited smileys, and send a polite "can you not fill every post with smileys please?" for the very very rare times when someone irritates. but i'm fully aware that my opinion counts for very little
